One day, Kable's Trade Caravan was stopped in Corday, near the Corday Manse. "You know," said old Jean, looking out the window and sipping some Vindiconte Tea. "The mine collapsed the other day."
"Isn't that our main source of income?" said Henri, incredulously. "I mean... really?"
"And all our farms, well, you see, the locusts--"
"You can't be serious."
"Son, we're in a bit of a... we have a problem, you see, because... well, there were a really strangely unconnected series of events in the past week, and as a result, all the infrastructure, it just suddenly--" he snapped his fingers.
"Oh, wow. Are the peasants revolting?"
"Yes, but I don't think their smell has nothing to do with any of this. Aren't you paying attention?"
"Dad, I mean revolting as in--"
"I know, I know, it's a joke. I'm not an idiot. Now shut up, listen--the peasants haven't heard about it yet. We have to make sure that continues. We need to get the infrastructure back up and running, and we need to do it quick. I've got a lot of stress right now, and so I need you to just not ask more questions. I have a task for you."
Henri sat back in his chair. "Okay, fine. What shall I do, father?"
"There's a trade caravan out by the gate. Go buy ten iron ingots from them, and keep them in the basement until we find a skilled craftsman."
"Skilled Craftsman?"
"Well, I guess they could be a novice craftswoman. They just need to be able to do something so basic as not messing up a simple pickaxe, ten times in a row. Anyway, just--can't you listen? Go! Before they leave or something."
Wearing a distinguished-looking burgundy vest, Henri strolled over to the caravan. Once inside the circle, he found himself in the middle of a crowd, shouting curses and obscenities at each other. "Excuse me, sir," he said to a large Skaldi, chained by the ankle to a stand, "To whom should I speak about purchasing some iron?" He smiled.
The Skaldi grunted, and pointed towards a stall near the edge, which bore a sign painted with the word SUPPLIES. The stall was a fairly plain-looking setup, in which was seated a bored-looking young woman. That's my target demographic, thought Henri. He came up to her stall, smiling, just as another customer left. "Hi," he said, "I was looking for some iron ingots, but if you wouldn't mind--I'm incredibly curious--What's life like on the roads? Have any tales of adventure? Could I have a discount for buying in bulk?"
Yeah, that should work.

Cera sat up and spat.
"What's yer offerin? Better be worth it ta me to not give Kable his share."
The woman spat again and looked the youth up and down. He didn't look like he had any money on him. But he looked like he came from money. A good deal could secure a customer for life. Kable would be happy about that. There were quite a few people visiting the caravan here. Well that was good. People needed supplies in this country. It was just too bad that there wasn't much variety.
Test required to convince Cera to sell in bulk at a discount.

Ventus was being punished. At least, that’s what it felt like. Sure, he might have deserved the chores that were now thrown upon him, but it didn’t mean he had to accept.
Ok, maybe he shouldn’t have such a bad attitude about it. After all, it had been his fault that he and Élise got in another fight. Ever since Élise had informed him that she was to be knighted into Julgrava’s Sovereign military, Ventus has been arguing with her almost constantly. He thought she understood how awful life was under Julgrava’s rule – if he even actually existed!? What if he wasn’t even real and they were all just being fooled by the elves - the same purebloods that caused them hell since they were born. What was her business joining their cause?
Ventus shoved his hands into his trouser pockets as he grumbled over these questions. He had been ordered – ORDERED – by Élise to pick up some items outside of Fordeth at Kable’s caravan.
So, he did as he was told – with much added grumbling – and purchased two short swords, four daggers, and two hard leather armors. He wasn't here to haggle. He'd pay the full price and be on his way.

Oh, yes--he'd cast the line and got a bite. His father had taught him well how to bargain, both what to promise and to whom. It was only a matter of reeling now.
"Ten ingots for Forty Ritz, and the Corday Duchy will throw a magnificent feast for your entire caravan whenever you pass through our lands."
Since the master of the house preferred to eat alone, he would't even notice. They had plenty of food, and unless they were under siege--or didn't get the mine rebuilt by the end of the month--it wouldn't even make a dent in their stock. But the food was good, and the cooks were good. The caravan would have one of the best meals of their lives, that night, if they took the deal.
"If Mr. Kable were to accept, he would find a valuable trade partner, and you might find a nicer place to spend the night." With a mischievous flash in his eyes, he pulled forty Ritz from his pocket. "My word is good as my gold."

"Not on yer life mate. Full price or no deal. Not worth getting Kable in a tizzy for your slaggin' hide. Way I see it. You need this iron to get your shit together here. You'll owe us that feast if you don't fuck it up and starve to death first." -- Cera.

Well, he thought, someone has a bit of an attitude.
He kind of liked it. Another ten Ritz hit the counter. "Alright, there's full price." It was what he'd have to pay, in the end; there was no use arguing that anymore. He shrugged himself back into a smile, and straightened his vest. "We've been hit by some recent misfortune. But because of this iron, we'll have plenty more to offer, next time you come around. I'll remember your good business sense." Well, he certainly turned that around. There was little he could do that might completely screw it up.
By nature, he was a gambler. It was worth a try. "The offer of a warm bed still stands. Just because we couldn't cut a deal business-wise doesn't mean we can't get along personally."

Getting out and about from town was occasionally wonderful. Having to go see Kable's troupe for supplies was...well it was always interesting seeing the trader again. He was straightforward, honest in his own way, and damned if he didn't have what you needed when you wanted it. Luckily Tyr wasn't in need of a loan today, he had more than enough of his own money this time.
Strolling into the somewhat familiar camp the Duke wasted some time wandering among stalls window shopping. Finding out what opportunistic trade caravans were selling was a good way to gauge what the country needed and where, even if he wasn't yet in a position to do much. Baila's stall was the first that caught his eye for anything though. He hadn't noticed anyone selling weapons or armor the last time he came through, and it was good to see someone else's crafts. He lightly poked about one set of hard leather armor, looking for various differences in creation.
He picked up the piece and held it in front of himself, looking it up and down. "Good stitching, did you do that yourself?" He still had issues with the finer points of using a needle, years of practice hammering metal had left him strong but not overly dexterous. "Leather's a bit soft in the shoulders, might want to tell your tanner they're leaving it in too long." It wouldn't cause an issue for the most part, too hard might restrict movement and it would still stop some weapons, but it would eventually wear out from the easier motion.
"I'll take it. Also this." Tyr picked up a sash to go with it, draped the two over his shoulder, and started counting out money.

Fabre had wandered into the caravan just as she left Fordeth, the only place where she would run into people before her journey south. She had watched a few people buying items - some tried to haggle - some came and went without conversation. The stall that she needed a weapon from was run by a man, so Fabre thought she might give a shot at this "bargaining" business.
Fabre strolled up, hips swinging as she rocked her bod - because why not take advantage of the "assets" one was born with. She smiled charmingly at the fellow, batting eyelashes and whatever else was expected of an attractive woman in the new Sovereign society. "Hey there," Fabre spoke with her most fragile voice, "I was wondering if we could make a trade," Fabre ran her finger along one of the daggers sitting amongst Doran's selection, "I'll show you something nice in return for one of these." She tapped the dagger while tugging on the hem of her top suggestively.

"Huh?" Fabre was impressed, but unfortunately she didn't think a measly dagger was worth her serves. She slid two ritz over very slowly with a reluctant scowl on her face, still wondering how her tricks hadn't prevailed.
However, she wasn't going to leave with a bad attitude. She might need to use this guy in the future. So, she leaned in real close and tapped the curve his chin with her thumb, "Maybe next time." Fabre winked, took what she came for, and left.
Still working on that Relationship I knowledge (and still in the worst way...)

"You do indeed my friend. I'll have to come back again and see what else you happen to find." With a smile and a wave Tyr set out from the armor shop and started fitting on both the armor and sash to get used to them. He'd never really needed to wear armor before, but with his new status and the roads being as bad as they always were it never really hurt to have it. Maybe he'd look for a weapon here later as well.
Wandering through the caravan more the Duke spotted someone selling iron. Useful thing to have, and he was fresh out. Kind of hard to run a crafting shop without anything to craft. Rooting around he only noticed leather and iron for sale, although there was a cache of dragonfruit as well. Delicious little things, always a treat. He picked up two and walked over to the shopkeeper with a smile.
"My good lady, would you care to have one while we talk some business?" There were two ritz neatly pressed against the fruit he offered, making it clear he wasn't trying to give her her own wares. Well he was, but he was buying it first. It's the principle of the thing damnit!
After the brief trade he'd take a small bite, savor the juice goodness, and then wave at the stock. "Would you happen to have a sack I could carry some of this with? I'm looking to buy 40 ingots of iron and 10 pieces of leather." Getting that back in a sack would be of so much fun, but carrying heavy things was something he excelled at. Still... "Or a delivery service of some kind? I'd be very interested in getting things delivered straight to my workshop, and you sell for a fair price. Having a stable flow of goods is generally good for both parties involved."
Relationship I for friendship! Also fruit as an offering. Relationships I / Alliance I / Industry I (possibly) for talking about getting supplies delivered regularly.
"I'm sure we can arrange something, sir. You're welcome here anytime." -- Cera

"Well then I'll be sure to stop on by sometime." Packing up his newly acquired goods, Tyr moved on to his next stop. His armor fit, he had supplies to start his trade back up, now he just needed to be able to defend himself in the mean time. Heading over to the weapons shop the Duke took a gander around at the selection of blades. Not surprisingly it was very small. Same as the armor shop had been really, no one made anything better so there was nothing better to buy. At least not unless you were very well connected.
Picking through some knives, the man came across a pair of daggers that seemed to call out to him. Rust free, nicely sharpened, they held the marks of being properly treated. Not just thrown in a crate and idly handled. "You have some good blades here. Nicely cared for, untouched by the weather. I like people that care for the crafts. " He pulled out the four ritz for the daggers and handed it over, musing over their weight and how they could be altered.
"I have an agreement with the caravan to have some iron delivered to my forge every month. If you'd be open to it, I could send them back with a small sample of my work. A gift to someone who would care for it. Should you like what you see we could always work out some orders to send back every month, for a fair price.." Having someone sending him orders would keep the work flowing. Easy orders would give apprentices practice, harder ones would earn the shop coin. And all the while the caravan would be getting new weapons for customers.
Relationships I to make a friend! Relationships I/Alliance I/Industry I (+ maybe smithing in some way because he looks like a craftsman?) to plant the idea of the caravan ordering weapons from the Duchy.
Also buying two daggers.

"Good to know, thank you. Here, enjoy." Taking one of his newly purchased daggers, Tyr cut the back half of his dragonfruit off and handed it to the weapon merchant. Even if he couldn't make headway on that plan there was no reason not to be friendly. Plus who wouldn't want some free dragonfruit? Seeking out Kable right now though wouldn't be very useful. Not having any product would make it difficult for things to get moving, and it would likely end up wasting both of the men's time. He'd just approached Doran with it because he already happened to be there.
Loading up his newly purchased supplies the Duke headed back towards his lands. He had some iron that needed shaping.
Relationships I to make friends with Doran with their last interaction, half a dragonfruit offered just because.

Jorkahn came out from the woods surrounding the roads instead from the road itself. He had heard the sounds of people and beasts of burden from quite a ways away and had decided to explore said sounds. He stood there, just barely in sight, within the edge of the brush unmoving for a time. The boy simply watched and listened, occasionally tugging on the hood of his travelling cloak that hid his eyes and most of his face. His platinum blonde hair peeked out from the opening at his neck on his shoulders. Mustering up the courage to go within the crowd Jorkahn finally took the first step forward and slowly began walking through the shops and stalls in the caravan.
After exploring for a while he made his way over to the shops that were selling arms and armor. Jorkahn stood in front of each stall, fidgeting with the edge his cloak every few moments. He couldn't bring himself to speak to those running the shops and he wouldn't dare touch their wears before they were paid for. After a moment of agonizing silence he pointed at the Leather armor and sash, the short sword, and two of the daggers. He plopped down enough ritz for each and waited for the shopkeepers to take the payment before wordlessly taking his wears in his arms. Without a moment to spare the shortly boy hurried his way back into the woods from whence he came.

Arthurius rocked up to the trade cacaravan any by rocked up he actually trudged along, annoyed once again at having to go through such a basic job that he would never have had to worry about before, but funding was now an issue, one that he was not going to get around very easily unless he could find a way to get money coming in, but first off he would have to get something to start him off. And here was the only place he'd heard of where someone like him could get a loan.
heading over to a stall that seemingly held crafting supplies, noting the Dragonfruit and contemplating purchasing one or a few, he saw the woman who seemed to be running this stall, she would be his best chance at getting to the owner of this caravan who was supposedly the one capable of giving him money.
"Excuse me, you wouldn't happen to know where I could get a loan from, I heard that someone around here could help me out with this a bit." H said it courteously but with his eyes still picking over the wares, he himself was not particularly interested in talking to the woman as she was just a means to getting to the one he sought.

The guards pointed the young man Arthurius in Kable's direction. He was sitting under a large canvas tent on a chair at a long oak table. The merchant leader brought out a piece of paper, and a standard blank loan contract, ink, and an inkwell.
"Ok young man. I'll just need some information from you. Your name, province or town of origin, your occupation, a brief description of what you'll be using the money for, and how much you'll be needing." -- Kable
