-Permanent Thread -NPCs are subject to Permanent Death
A hole opens up under one's own feet while traveling through the graveyard in Sorath city. A few moments of darkness sliding down a shaft leaves you (and your companions if you had any) in a square room, too dark to see anything in. The shaft that had led you here was too steep to climb back up, the only path left is forward. Dungeon Information:The Dungeon is Dark and Full of Monsters.--All monsters have an automatic fear rating of II (Fearsome) in addition to whatever fear rating they had before, provided the monster remains unseen but the player is aware that there is a monster in the room with them. --The Dungeons monsters are scaled to the average level among all players active in the dungeon. --The Dungeon is too dark for the eyes to adjust. There is a complete lack of light. As such, only lanterns, magic, Ultravision, and Dark Vision will be able to allow a character to navigate the dungeon. Players without one of these sources of light/vision suffer extreme penalties to vision detection rolls ( Must Roll < 10), Chance to hit (-25), Can not Dodge or block, and have a 50% chance to run into the Dangers in the Dark. The Dangers in the DarkThe character, without a source of light/vision, may run into any number of these dangers. -Pitfalls (Character takes falling damage from falling into an area that is on a lower level than their own). -Monsters (Character literally bumps into a monster. A strength test determines if the character is knocked to the ground by the own momentum, and if they knock the monster over as well). -Walls (The character can bump into a wall, taking strength damage.) -There are no traps. Character Removal-Death (Your Player Character is removed from the dungeon if no resurrection options are available. For NPC's, this is permanent destruction. You have been warned.) -Finding the Exit. (Your character(s) have found the exit! They may proceed to leave the area now!) -Once you have left via this method you may only return to the exit chamber or go deeper if that option is available. Dungeon Cleared- Allyria Allenmorde (She may return, but will receive reduced rewards. Difficulty will no longer be fixed to her level.)

The First Room.
After sliding down a hundred yards of the shaft, darkness envelopes you. Without a source of light or vision nothing is seen. The floor feels like stone, and the air is stale but a decent temperature. There is no smell other than that of the chilly dark. --Dark Vision:--Ultravision:-- Allyria Allenmorde-- Fyrra Na'Limndra--Lantern/Magic:-- Thrawn Demer (No Lantern yet) Light Level: Total Darkness Room Contents: 2 Unlit Braziers (80% fuel remaining) -24x24 Meters.

Darkness enveloped Thrawn in an instant. He went from walking to falling to on the floor before his mind could understand what was going on. The Darthaki had only wanted to examine the area and find a starting place for his trip down the catacombs not literally fall right into them.
However there was nothing he could do about it after he hit the cold stone floor of the catacombs. Thrawn collected himself and stood up, cursing his fate for not having a light source with him. Instinctively Thrawn drew his sword and shield and moved around in a circle, trying to identify any danger nearby.
It was far too dark for the Barbarian to see anything but he tried his best to remain calm. He remained on guard a few paces form where he had landed and hope that his sight will adjust to the darkness.

Moments later, Fyrra and Merrake came down the shaft into the catacombs. This was entirely by accident, they were talking about the nature of graveyards and how it was strange that the cruinthians buried their dead. The debate was intense as to what the very purpose was of such a practice. It baffled them both when they heard about the graveyard. In Korasus there was no such thing as a graveyard. The dead were taken care of in a different way. So they wound up walking straight into the hole that Thrawn had also fell through. When they arrived, they noticed him immediately. Merrake was armed and armored from their recent visit to the Sorath Ring Market. Fyrra was also armored, and slightly armed. She did not enjoy being in such a state, but a graveyard was a strange thing and it could be dangerous.
"Thrawn? What are you doing down here in the dark? How did you get here?"
"He can't see us, Kalimbra. He's a human. There's a brazier over there, light it will you?"
"Oh, yes."
Fyrra proceeded to the brazier, and attempted to light it with some basic fire magic, so the human could see as well. The fire sputtered and did nothing at all. She tried again, this time concentrating harder. That did the trick, as the brazier was now lit.
"There, much better."
Fyrra uses Thaumaturgy I, Fire I to light one of the braziers. Fire I, Thaumaturgy I, Knowledge, Simple (13+5+5+30 = 53)

The First Room, Lit Description
There was a larger than expected room around them. It was about twenty four meters by the same, entirely made of stone. The door was in between the braziers, one of which was now lit, providing enough light to the room for most things to be seen in it. The door was made from wood and appeared to be falling apart. The hinges were rusted, and the wood was rotten. A strong blow would make it crumble.

The seconds seemed to stretch for Thrawn as he tried to no avail to see in the darkness. He was about to venture forward when the two ladies dropped down seemingly out of nowhere. When the brazier was lit, Thrawn squinted from the sudden light and looked around, glad to see that there were any visible dangers in the room.
"I don't think I've ever been happier to see you both," which is saying something considering he had seen them both naked. "I was looking for an entrance to the catacombs and I guess I found it."
"Doesn't look like there's another way out, so our best bet it to keep moving forward," Thrawn gestured towards the door. "Merrake you should take point, I can bring up the rear until we find another light source," Thrawn would pause in case there were any objections, "Fyrra, in case we run into anything in the dark light up a fireball so I can move up and assist Merrake."
Unless there were any objections Thrawn would turn to the door and try to break it down with a kick. It hardly budged the first time, but Thrawn reentered himself and tried again.
The second kick broke the door open and Thrawn would step aside and take his position in the formation.

Thrawn kicked down the rotting door after his second attempt. At first Fyrra was surprised by the noise, but then she was surprised by his strength. Though he was comparably massive, it didn't quite click in her head until this moment how strong he was. The door didn't seem to have much of a chance. Fyrra nodded to herself while thinking that she couldn't have found a better person to help them through this labyrinth.
"We were just taking a look at the graveyard. It's a strange practice, burying your dead that is. Then we sort of walked into the hole that led us here. How strange."
"I'll take the front. Kalimbra, be in the middle."
"That is fine with me. This place is plenty scary. I'd rather be between the two of you."
Merrake peeked around the corner of the door, looking to see what was on the other side of the wreckage that Thrawn had wrought. At the same time, she drew her weapons. Fyrra plucked her own dagger from its sheath, holding it tightly.
"Do you see anything?"
The Kalimbra, asked, waiting for a report.

1st Hallway
To Merrake's right the hallway ended after several meters in an abrupt stop. To her left it seemed to take a forty five degree turn to the right, while simultaneously sloping downwards. Between her and the turn there was a two meter wide, one meter deep pit that would have to be traversed. Obviously it was designed to maim or kill an intruder as the brazier that would normally cast light on it was at the very end of the hall by the turn. The pit was too far from the door for the light from the room they were in to show it. In total darkness it would catch someone by surprise, they would walk right into it and suffer terrible injuries.
Other than those things, the hallway appeared unoccupied.

Merrake looked down the hall, then relayed what she saw to Fyrra as she saw it. She made mention of the pit trap in the floor, and of the brazier on the other side of it, as well as the turn that was ahead. They spoke in Drokagr mainly because Merrake didn't know what the word for pit trap was in Cruic and it would sound wrong to her ears to sprinkle a Drokagr word into an otherwise Cruic sentence. Fyrra looked down the hall then to make sure that she understood what Merrake was relaying to her. Then she started towards the pit, reached a run speed, and attempt to jump across the two meters.

She stuck the landing perfectly. Turning around to show off at the perturbed Merrake, who was angry at her for doing such a thing in the first place. Especially after the incident in the baths where she had slipped and hurt herself.
"Be more careful please. There is a pit trap there, friend Demer. She just leaped, leapt? across it, and is now going to attempt to light the brazier."
Fyrra did as Merrake was describing. She reached the brazier easily now, with no trap in the way, and strode right up to it. She put her palm out facing it and willed fire to come from herself and set the fuel in the brazier alight. That way the Darthaki man could see, and have a better chance at navigating the pit trap unscathed. She shuddered to think what would become of him if he failed.
Sprained ankles are the worst.
She lit the brazier with ease and started clapping, ever so pleased with herself.
"See, Merrake? I can take care of myself."

On some level, whether they like it to admit it or not, people -at least those who do not have ultravision- are afraid of the dark. Thrawn was no exception. Had the women had not dropped in on him he might have walked blindly into that pit, he did not want to think about what would have happened if he did.
"Alright, I'm going to jump and take point in case anything comes at us from the darkness," Thrawn said to Merrake, he tried not to let his voice betray how tense how was feeling.
Taking a running start Thrawn got as close as he dared to the edge of the pit before launching himself into the air in order to clear the trap.

It was not the best landing but Thrawn made it across, he even threw in a roll and propped himself up on one knee with his shield raised. After a brief scan of the surroundings, Thrawn got up and moved towards Fyrra and with his shield still raised took the pole position.
"Thanks for the light," he said, his relief clear in his voice as he waited for Merrake to cross or something to come at them.

1st Hallway
With the light now available, only part of the angled hallway that attached to the straight one they occupied was visible. This next part of the hallway seemed to be sloped as well, and would lead them deeper into the catacombs. The light would stop being of any help just before the open threshold to another room.

Nothing came out of the darkness nor stirred within it, at least nothing that Thrawn could see. He moved as close to the darkness as he would dare, leaving enough room so that he could react if something did come out of there all of the sudden. The longer he was down there the more tense he got.
Thrawn liked examining things, assessing situations before reacting, he did not like having nothing to rely on except for what his companions told him, and furthermore he did not like feeling of being both useless and helpless in the dark.
He shifted his gaze to the Kalimbra near him and looked back towards Merrake as he waited for her to join them, he hoped that she would make the jump as well, he could not have asked for better company, if they had not literally dropped in on him he would have most likely fallen into that pit into what was most likely a grim end for him, lost in the darkness of the catacombs.
"For what it's worth, I'm glad that you two are here," he said his tone somber as he continued to hold his shield up towards the darkness. "I'd rather have the two of on my side than any Darthaki raiding party."
The small talk was more for himself than anything else, talking about home helped calm his mind.
"Sure they're great at killing and fighting, but I wouldn't trust them to read a map let alone guide me through this mess."

It was now Merrake's turn to cross the gap. She came to a run and attempt to leap across the short pit in a single bound, aiming to land with both feet on the other side in a graceful fashion. She was not some kind of rolling adventurer like Thrawn was. Though his example did look like he was ready for action. Fyrra was more the person she tried to model herself after, making such a thing look simple.
"Hup!"
Running and Leaping (both unlearned), Agility (15), Simple : 45 TFXTe8Ko
She succeeded of course, and joined the others. Fyrra and Merrake came up behind Thrawn as he was talking about the Darthaki raiding party and being glad they were with him. Fyrra was touched, it wasn't every day that someone expressed their appreciation for the company of others.
"Why thank you, Thrawn. I'm glad you're here too. It isn't so bad down here. Almost like home in a way. The ceiling is just much closer than the streets of Korasus."
"I wouldn't compare this to Korasus' streets."
"Mmm, I agree. Korasus is much cleaner than this underground... warren. Why don't you have a look ahead Merrake? Our friend can't see in the dark."
"Yes ma'am."
"So what are the Darthaki like? You're my only exemplar, and you mentioned raiding parties. What are those?"
Merrake moved ahead to scout out the dark area, proceeding into the inky blackness without a problem. She could see perfectly fine in the dark.

The next room was at the end of the hall, where Merrake had gone. It was a large room, especially compared to what occupied it. To her immediate left would be another brazier with fuel in it. On her right along the wall that ran with the wall of the hall was a door. This door was also half eaten away by rot and time. In the center of the room was a skeleton, standing there, looking stupid. It held a rusty crooked blade in its left hand. It swayed back and forth slowly. It had yet to notice Merrake.

Thrawn took a few steps after Merrake but did not follow her completely into the dark.
"There are four tribes in the valleys of Darthak, while each pride themselves on their unique rituals and traditions, they all love drinking and fighting, especially fighting each other. Despite my ancestor's attempts in uniting the tribes, they continue to fight each other over ancient feuds. It's not uncommon for a group of warriors trying to prove their worth to attack another tribe. That's when the raiding parties come in."
Although he was not concisely doing so, Thrawn was referring to the Darthaki as 'them' not 'we' or 'us'. He dested the senseless violence that had engulfed his people, he only took up arms against another Darthaki if they were attacking his tribe and stayed clear from raiding parties that attacked other tribes.
"Every now and then parties also hunt down monsters who pose a threat to the tribe like a wandering Caraska, or Harpy, it's a militia of sorts."
