Kell finally managed to bring himself out of the tower, readied in his armour with longsword and bow strapped onto his body at various points, his warhammer however was in his hands and ready. He'd never fought men personally, he'd seen his own men fight others and had ordered them over it but he never himself had swung at and killed someone. Animals were a different matter, but these were actual men like him or any other. Granted they were SKC, but not every man arrayed here would be here of his own will after the forced conscription acts that had recently come in.
"Come on then, if you're stuck on this idiocy let's get it started." Kevin shouted from a floor higher up the tower as he defended the stairs with weapon in hand. Unfortunately the smith was also unarmoured and as such Kell had no intention of actualyl letting him anywhere near the fighting. "Kevin, you have no armour, take this bow and some arrows and help defend the tower, they're likely to need a hand and i'd prefer you somewhere where you're not so likely to get smacked by a stray sword. Stay here. If they break through to the tower you'll be the last line of defence."
It had taken him some time to come to terms with the fact that whether or not they were here by choice they were still going to do as they were told and destroy the city of Morith. The Morith militia wouldn't be able to hold out indefinitely, if he could help even a small bit then maybe they'd be able to hold out longer, or possibly even win this. They were outnumbered but not so badly that if they played this well they coudln't drive off the invaders, and he had hopes that he wasn't the only one here helping to turn the tide. If Morith fell then the SKC would be far to close to his own territories, and they'd have a more central location from which to launch their own raids on the south.
Kell took a moment to survey things to the south, it seemed that the Duke was laying waste on his dire wolf, he stood out amongst the regular footsoldiers atop the beast, and they seemed to have the few battalions well contained. What did strike him was a mass of SKC soldiers that had gathered to the south west that seemed to be looking inwards on themselves and fighting in towards the middle. If there was a lone defender in the middle of that then he couldn't leave them, if they'd lasted this long they likely could continue longer, but Kell helping out probably wouldn't make things worse. Kell took three waterskins from the pile and started on his way.
It didn't take him long to jog over till he was just within range of the mass of men, a simple bolt of energy here wouldn't do quite so much damage so Kell decided to take it up a notch. Kell created first one bolt, then another, then three more in quick succession, holding each in the air in front of him before releasing them at the five men nearest to him. A quick shrug of power coated him in arcane energies that would hopefully help to dissipate any blows that did hit him, here at least he didn't have to worry about being noticed for his power due to the armour he was wearing basically covering him entirely. Once he'd fired off his opening salvo Kell stood with hammer in hand to wait for the soldiers reaction.

King Redgar Karligar-Encountered enemies: 76th Battalion-5 Infantry Redgar would find again that he had been surrounded by more enemy infantry. Those three men that he had taken down with the help of his trusty dire wolf were no match for him. It began to become clear to the 76th's troops that they would need to bring out heavier troops to finish off this upstart. Perhaps the rebellion would crumble into servitude when he fell? They fought for him after all. Jorkahn Wealddir-Encountered Enemies: 87th Battalion-Battalion Commander Adrian Kaln Jorkahn had managed to cleave through five more enemy infantry like it was nothing. Now, none moved out from their respective circle to engage him directly. They did not wish to be next. He scared them enough with his prowess. No man wanted to be next. However, it happened that Jorkahn was near the center of the battalion. "Stand aside maggots. This one is mine."Adrian Kaln had stepped up to fight Jorkahn in single combat. He was tall, armored and appeared very capable. The troops parted for their battalion commander, a Ritgr of the Crown, to pass through. He drew his sword and pointed it at Jorkahn. "You may have the first swing, lad." Allyria Allenmorde-Encountered Enemies: None. From the top of the tower Allyria had gained a complete view of the battlefield. She could see the rampaging enemy units pouring into the city over Morith's crumbling walls like an army of ants crossing rough terrain. She could see the defenders trying to contain the tide and fight back as best they could. But they fell whenever they gained the bravery to fight, and in droves. Hundreds of souls each passing minute. At this rate, the battle would be over in a matter of a few short hours. The SKC appeared to outnumber the defenders severely. Fyrra Na'Limndra -Encountered Enemies: None.Fyrra and Merrake had managed to escape the barrage of attacks from their previous foes, finding solace in a neighborhood yet to be consumed by chaos. The streets were more or less empty, as the majority of the able bodied citizens had been called up to fight. Tyr (45 Kills) -Encountered Enemies: 72nd BattalionKilinger would stick a man through the heart like it was nothing, and the infantryman would crumple like a sack of potatoes. Similarly, the man's company folded almost as soon as he died, but there was no correlation. The Duke Mardok had not only managed to kill forty four infantry by churning up the earth like it was some kind of cake batter, but his roar had managed to scare off an additional force of men. Forces were beginning to move to reinforce the rapidly disintegrating company. It seemed this unit had a leader moving them.
@namaphry (2 Kills) -Encountered Enemies: 70th Battalion-3 Infantry If she was seeking to garner the attention of elements of the 70th Battalion, she was successful. The company closest to the center tower of Morith, that had been rampaging through the city unchecked had lost two men to her strafing fire. Those infantry had dropped rather quickly, and pursuit was garnered immediately. A three man team would follow after her, while the others continued on their pillaging path without being halted. Kell Lo'Tharan (4 Kills) Encountered Enemies: 87th Battalion-5 Infantry. Four of Kell's bolts hit enemy infantry, and he garnered their attention immediately. Their battalion had more than surrounded Jorkahn. There was an air about them that he was doomed, despite how well he dispatched their comrades in arms. This company that Kell encountered was entirely fresh, and more than a block away from where Jorkahn was fighting. These troops charged him as soon as they noticed that four of their men had been dropped by sorcery. Soon he would find himself surrounded by men wielding spears looking to impale him and leave him by the roadside as a trophy.

Though she wasn't very familiar with mounted archery, Rithaleya knew enough about skirmish tactics to leave the three soldiers who were after her with the illusion they could simply run and catch up, while staying ready to fall back at a moment's notice. It was a good thing that the SKC soldiers were on foot; her riding skills made it necessary to stop to aim, anyway.
There was always the possibility her horse might not respond as attended, or that her arrows would miss, or that her enemies could improvise an attack that could catch her at range, but there were always risks in war... and staying both mounted and at a distance as more caution than almost anyone else in the city was showing, so she still felt ahead of the curve. As long as she didn't ride into a dead-end, maybe she'd could keep feeling that way.

The Budding Necromancer and her bodyguard continued to head in a southwardly direction, trying to keep the tower of Morith in their field of vision as they proceeded down the grid-like streets. Fyrra wanted to approach from the east. It would be easier with the sun at their backs. They be able to move about without interference from enemies that had gotten loose in the city. They didn't know how many battalions were attacking, they didn't know if they were walking right into a trap as they proceeded. The cobblestones here, even four blocks away, ran red with blood. The gutters that lead to the waterworks below the city were also slaked with the same crimson. Every moment that passed even more men and women died.
Fyrra and Merrake kept their wits about them as they proceeded through the city. They checked around every corner, looked down the streets before turning down them to make sure they weren't going to collide with an enemy patrol. They were surprised to see that most of the streets were empty.

From atop the tower Allyria took stock of the situation. Directly to her north in Northern Canton and through the North gate the SKC had breached the city. The breach spread all the way over to the Westbrook neighborhood. Militia were holding that line together. It was where the main enemy offensive was. Between the tower and Westbrook were some roving companies. To the west there was a battalion that had breached through the west gate, but they seemed to be retreating in some manner from what she could tell. Perhaps there was help sandwiching them from the other side, or perhaps it was some kind of elaborate ruse. Between Red Oaks and Southern Canton seemed to be some fighting. There was a whole battalion of SKC milling around there sort of circling one area. It was strange, but she noticed that there weren't any militia currently containing it. Towards the southern gate her gaze turned and fell upon a large and deep breach into the city behind held, barely, by militia. A man riding a giant wolf was spied amongst those fighters. Perhaps it was Duke Karligar. Knowing that breach had leadership reeling against it was relieving. Even if the rumors said the Duke was a madman. There was a small breach over the wall in the southeast, by the Eastpoint neighborhood. To the east by the east gate was another large breach like the one in Southern Canton. She wasn't sure where to fire off a volley.
For a moment she pondered the situation. They were well surrounded. Only a foolwould fail to close the noose in this situation.
She had to prevent that from happening. The best chance of rallying the militia laid in the hands of the Duke that led them. She would have to even the scales near him. She rolled up her sleeves revealing her tattoos on her left arm and stood on the crenelations of the tower. The wind whipped her scarlet and tattered at the edges cloak around. She breathed heavily and closed her eyes, concentrating on the magic she was about to preform. In the palms of her hands she formed four crimson stars. Then with four motions, thrusting them forward, she shot them at the line of companies that were ahead of Redgar.
The red stars streaked across the sky, over the buildings and plummetted as quickly as they flew. Soon they bored into the midst of four separate companies behind the enemy lines in the center. As each start struck something hard they exploded into a wirlwind of arcane flame and force. The ground shattered underneath them, armor would melt or crack, and flesh would vaporize in the raw waves of power.
The exertion left Scarlet feeling drained. The Lampe flashed, as she had tapped what energy it was storing for the cost of one of the stars. She had used her substantial pool of wellspring energy as fuel for the other three. Standing on the crown of the tower breathing heavily, she surveyed the damage she had wrought.

The quake churned the ground and felled his enemies like a scythe through so much wheat. It was awesome to watch, equal parts amazing and terrifying. To cause such destruction without the use of magic was almost unheard of, to be the cause of it was both humbling and encouraging. Maybe he truly could help turn this part of the battle on his own. As the reinforcing enemy company approached Tyr remained mostly still, letting himself recover from the excessive use of strength. He would guard his eyes if any arrows came down on him, otherwise ignoring attacks for the moment. The armor he bore would deflect everything else. When the kingdom troops finally closed in Tyr would pull free his mace and shield, then hammer one against the other in the same challenge his troops used. The resounding clang would wash over the gathered masses and echo off the city walls. After a few hits he stood ready to fight and yelled out his own actual challenge, this one in Cruic for the benefit of understanding. "I challenge your commander! Let him come forth and face me with honor!"
Kilinger walked up to his lord's bow, slung it across his back, and simply watched. There was zero chance of him being able to draw the thing so his assistance was limited to moral support and defending Mina like he had been instructed to do. Plus everyone who might have come after him seemed to have been killed by the quake or routed by the Sissak roar. Still, he kept ready to raise his shield and try to block any arrows that may come his way.

Jorkahn grinned as more heads began to roll. The bodies that were left behind hit the cobble with a sickening thud. The Ritgr was very nearly lost to the bloodlust when his opponents suddenly backed away and a voice broke through the rabble. Adrian Kaln pushed his way past his subordinates and pointed his sword at the warrior, offering him the first move.
Though the half-breed had been very talkative just a moment ago he said nothing this time around. The commander looked like a different cut than the rest of the fodder surrounding him. The Champion pulled out a water skin and took a few gulps before bowing towards the commander in a show of respect. As the lad rose he called forth the energy within to hasten his strike and his steps, bringing his axe to bear upon his enemy. Jorkahn intended to end this makeshift duel in the first strike. If he missed, or his opponent did not go down, the warrior would take a defensive stance in anticipation of the commander's next move.

So his initial barrage seemed to have done it's job, it had costed his energy reserves dearly but had taken down four soldiers. Four soldiers really wasn't a particularly impressive amount considering the sheer amount of them that were about but it was a start, and with his current capabilities it did seem like his only real option was to keep chipping away at them bit by bit in this fashion. It seemed almost unreal the fact that the shots had just hit them and they'd fallen, from the distance they seemed like dolls falling to his attack. The soldiers however did not seem to like this idea as instead of just letting him sit back and fire away at them they instead decided to turn and try to bring the fight to him. Now if it had just been a squadron maybe he'd be ok but this was an entire battalion turning now and surrounding him, spears pointed inwards and aimed at his flesh.
Kell nearly froze for a moment, he'd have to trust in his armour and in his shields and hope they'd turn the enemies weaponry, if they wouldn't then he was done for here with the sheer amount of men that were surrounding him now. All he could do in this state was continue to try and whittle them away as they sought to put an end to him, it was likely futile due to their sheer numbers but now that he was surrounded it was about the most that he could do. Now that he was up close and personal there was no way either to avoid seeing the damage he would inflict upon them, hopefully his nerve would hold.
Kell adjusted both hands on his hammer as the footmen surrounded him, four seem to have sprung to the front and it was at those he aimed as he extended his arms and swung out the hammer in a wide arc aiming to strike as many as possible in a single swing. With the pure weight of the hammer and force of his swing it shouldn't be impossible for it to pass through more than once surely. That was the theory at least, he just wanted these men away from him before they could test if his armour would hold up.

From over his shoulder came several streaking red stars. He paused for a moment to watch their trajectory. He traced it back to the tower in the center of the city. Some sorcerer had taken the top of the tower and was raining death down upon him... or rather, when he turned his head, he found that death was being rained upon his enemies. He didn't know he had a sorcerer on his side. How lucky! He thought he was all by his lonesome out here. As the stars collided with enemy forces and the ground it seemed like the whole block shook. The explosions sent men and stone flying through the air, ripping apart the streets ahead of him and his militia. Redgar saw the opportunity in front of him and attempted to seize it.
"Flank them, FLANK THEM!"
Members of the militia heard his orders and began to move in a fashion to flank their enemies, filling in the gaps and surrounding them where possible. They were outnumbered, but that could quickly change with proper maneuvering. With fire superiority Redgar knew he could gain the upper hand in this battle. Some god had blessed him, and he was thankful.

Mina had no need to move from atop her mount. She had set the beast of a man that had attacked her aflame, leaving nothing behind but a pile of molten armor. That was enough it seems to deter her enemies from attacking her. She witnessed Tyr call out the enemy commander from his position ahead of them. She stayed where she was, intending to go nowhere unless absolutely necessary.
Likewise Katrina had intended to go nowhere, the tower was secure, why would she bother? Redgar was busy fighting and now some mage was throwing death at her enemies.

King Redgar Karligar-Encountered enemies: 76th Battalion-No enemies Before Redgar's very eyes the streets ahead of him split open from the crimson stars crashing into them. Bodies flew all directions, a swath of destruction cut through the companies that were positioned in that space. All that had been caught in the blasts were killed. A building crumbled into a pile of rubble as the smoke started to clear, its weight suddenly too much to be supported by a single standing wall. Once the dust settled it was clear that there were only three infantry in front him still. The others had been slain by the blastwave or flying weapons. Baalrung and Redgar himself made short work of those men. The militia directly around Redgar had heard his orders and rallied immediately. Now that they had some direction they started carving apart the SKC infantry on an almost one to one basis. They still took losses, but the impact wasn't as heavy or demoralizing as it had been before. Jorkahn Wealddir-Encountered Enemies: 87th Battalion-Battalion Commander Adrian Kaln Next Post Allyria Allenmorde-Encountered Enemies: None.Allyria's stars fell with ease, ripping apart the targeted sections of the city with ease. The explosions tore apart entire companies, and knocked down a few buildings. The shockwave was felt in the adjacent areas and streets. Throughout the entire city the explosions were heard, and many stopped and paused to see what had happened. Fighting everywhere nearly ceased for a second, unless there was a direct threat that needed to be dealt with. Fyrra Na'Limndra -Encountered Enemies: None. The Kalimbra encountered no enemies. Tyr (0) -Encountered Enemies: 72nd Battalion-Battalion Commander Shapeshifter Troops peeled away at Duke Mardok's challenge for the battalion commander. They peeled away from a woman that was leaning on a gnarled walking stick. Her skin was dark and her eyes were piercing. Rage filled her. And soon Tyr would find himself facing an incredibly large eagle. Its wingspan was somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty meters. It's beak was cruel and hooked, and it had the same rage filled eyes. It screeched at him, and took off, raking the ground with its gigantic black talons. Illusion: 1D100 => 34 Success Tyr's Resist: 1D100 => 85 Failure -Illusion hard locked. Illusion: 1D100 => 7 Success Mina's Resist: 1D100 => 74 Failure -Illusion hard locked. Illusion: 1D100 => 5 Success Kilinger's Resist: 1D100 => 84 Failure -Illusion hard locked. To break a hard lock, you must roll better than the mage, but spend an action to do so.
@namaphry -Encountered Enemies: 70th Battalion-3 Infantry Rithaleya's mounted escape allowed her to get some space between her and her pursuers. Enough that she'd be able to shoot at them with impunity, but they would have a hard time catching up to her under fire. Perhaps ten to fifteen meters at the most in distance, more than what they could cover in a moment, but inside of two, those infantry would be upon her. Kell Lo'Tharan (4 Kills) Encountered Enemies: 87th Battalion-5 Infantry. Kell would find that his hammer swings easily shattered the bones of his foes. He killed four more infantry, and suffered a hit on his left calf from a wayward spear in the process. The second spear to make it inside his guard scored his shoulder. Kell takes: 44 Dmg (Shoulder, Lower Leg, if you have armor there deduct accordingly)

Battle DataInitiativeJorkahn (Allowed) Adrian Kaln Jorkahn-Drink -Attack: 1D100 => 28 HIT!! 1D15 => 3 (NECK, Instant Decapitation) -Dodge/Block Battle Results-Adrian Kaln, KIA
Adrian made a glaring mistake in challenging Jorkahn Wealddir. The youth might have been inexperienced and he might not have been a commander, but his aim with his axe was deadly. He took the opportunity Adrian gave him out of overconfidence, and took his head in the same stroke. The man's head flew off his body like a hawk fleeing its roost. Blood sprayed into the air, and the surrounding battalion broke, hard. The various companies started to scatter in all directions away from this battle.

After a careful look behind her revealed no obvious threats, Rithaleya turned her horse to the side and appeared to lay careful aim at the first of her oncoming foes. It was a bit of a deception, which was revealed when, after preparing to fire her first arrow for almost eight seconds, she launched two more in less than four, at the other soldiers. If she didn't make any miscalculations, she'd have plenty of time to deal with those who survived that brief barrage... or to flee, if that happened to be all of them.
(Three attack actions, using Bows and Marksmanship II.)

The Champion went wide eyed as he felt his weapon connect and Adrian's head go flying. His blood sprayed everywhere covering the warrior's body and weapon. Jorkahn looked between his weapon and the commander's decapitated head to his body and back for a moment. He hadn't expected it to be this easy. The commander had been so confident, it seemed his ego was the death of him. A wicked grin appeared upon the half-breed's face and he began to laugh. Well, less of a laugh and more of a cackle. Men fled from his sight, nearly tripping over themselves and their comrades' bodies. At this moment the sight delighted the Ritgr. The rush from his victory and the fear his enemies showed felt amazing.
Jorkahn took a quick look around and noticed a few elements of the 87th ignoring him, seemingly focused on someone else. The young man picked up Adrian's head by his hair and began to walk with purpose towards the rest of the 87th to the northeast. His intentions were sickeningly clear in his eyes and upon his face.
Actions: Walk towards the 87th surrounding Kell, Adrian's head in tow.
