Soon they were going to run out of warehouse space, they only had the three and Kell wouldn't know where to even begin if he was going to attempt to get more built. He doubted Kevin would know either, a warehouse was a quite large structure and required far more planning and knowledge of the workings of buildings than the two of them had combined really, so for now they would just have to make do with what storage they had within their lands. If worst came to it they could always buy a warehouse within one of the nearby cities to store their goods in, but then that begged the problem of travel, in order to use anything that was in that warehouse Kell would first have to make the trip to that city in order to get the resources.
There was one way that they could solve that though, by selling off their resources they'd gain some coin, that and they'd free up valuable storage space. For now they needed all of the material that they could get, but once the warehouses were full they could sell of the less needed resources and keep what they'd need, that would probably serve them much better than buying multiple warehouses just to store more resources than they'd likely ever need. There was only so much iron you could use up after all, and if by some chance they actually did run out of iron or wood or some other necessary resource they could very quickly gather more up anyway, with the rate the mines and mills produced they'd only have to go without for a couple of days.
Selling off excess resources sounded like a plan, it'd help to solve their monetary issues also, something that was stopping Kell from expanding also, as in order to get resources that they couldn't harvest within his lands he needed money. Once he had money he could expand his ventures further and hopefully that'd make him far more money, but he needed to get that start up first, and although he'd heard that loans could be purchased the idea seemed far more risky and costly than he was happy with.

So he'd get quite a tidy amount if he sold off his yields it seemed, only just under 1000 Ritz. While that in itself wasn't a huge amount to someone who had only just a quarter of that to their name currently 1000 seemed like a princely sum. It wouldn't cover even the beginnings of his newer enterprises currently but it would mean he had some coin to his name at least, he could afford to splash out a little if he could get some more money in his pockets, get some resources that he didn't currently have access to and maybe even a mount for himself.
He'd heard that Kel'Alee had some spectacular things for sale, if the tales were to be believed then you could find rideable wolves and even dragons. Of course he took these stories with a pinch of salt, but he was still interested, getting a decent horse would cut his travel time greatly, and although he wasn't travelling as much now he was still doing a fair bit of walking around his lands, and he planned to make a trip to new Skaldira sooner or later. Getting himself a horse would help, plus if he had a horse he could then get a cart built so that he could transport more with him. Sure he had his pocket, and it was useful, but a good horse and cart would up his carrying capacity even more, he could even make a business of it if he was so inclined, which of course he was.
Another method of transport he'd been thinking of was again his magic. If he could open a rip into another plane who was to say he coudn't open one to a different place on this plane. Were it possible he would then have the ability to instantly travel to any place that he liked, he could go from here to Korasus in moments then were he so inclined, he could go to any city that he liked without having to take more than a step and it'd cut out the need for a mount entirely. Unfortunately it seemed like far to much danger at this point, he was messing with forces that he didn't have a complete understanding of, and if he did something even slightly wrong he could end up on another plane entirely, something that he didn't find particularly appealing. It was an avenue that he'd approach when he was stronger and more sure of his power and it's limits, for now it was far to dangerous.

Planar magic was tempting though, sometimes he did wish to travel to another plane and see what was there, he'd only been on this one and there could be a near limitless amount of them to explore. Who knew what kind of creatures he'd encounter, what kind of materials he'd find, the things he could potentially learn. For all he knew on another of those planes lay the key to defeating Julgrava, some powerful magic unknown to all here, a weapon forged on another world or even simply if he could find someone strong enough and convince them to come and do the job for him. Not that he intended to fight and kill the Sorceror-King himself, he knew that most likely if he was looked at directly he'd die some sort of grisly death.
Unfortunately once again he was pretty badly equipped to do such a thing, he had no way of knowing what was in these different planes, for all he knew every single one could be immediately hostile to him and kill him on sight, he wasn't anywhere near prepared enough for such an expedition yet. He'd need far better arms and armour than that which he currently possessed, he'd also need to increase his knowledge of magic and basic survival techniques, there was no knowing what might help him in untraveled lands.
Kell shook his head, it was all well and good planning future journeys and preperations for them but for now focussing on the present was probably a much better idea. He needed to finish up getting all of the accounts in order for his lands so that he had a clear idea of their production capacities and what would need to be improved and how much he'd need in order to make these improvements. He'd calculated the yields and the monetary gains but he hadn't calculated his yields from the land itself, passive yields from taxes and such.

Only 50 Ritz a month? That was appalling. It would be 100 Ritz, which was little better, but the various upkeeps took half of that off straight away leaving him with 50 Ritz of passive income from the land. The only way he could make that more would be to up the taxes, but there was no way he would do such a thing to the people who lived on his lands. Money might be a concern for him and gaining it something that he was looking into, but there was no way that he was going to take more money off of his own people just to increase his own coffers, it sounded like something Julgrava would do and so in his mind the option was taken straight off of the table.
The money from selling yields would have to suffice then until he could get his other businesses off of the ground, he was hoping that some of them would bring in more money but again they were all as likely to lose him money as they were to gain him it. Risks had to be taken though, and none of them were risks that would get him in trouble, well, no more trouble than he could already potentially be in if he was found to be operating inside the borders of Cruinthe without having turned himself over to the crown.
Only several ways showed themselves that he could get money, and all of them required time. He could afford the time for now, well he'd have to really, but he wished there was an easier way. Offering his services was one way he could think of going about it, but what services did he actually have and who could he offer them to? Magic he'd like to keep a secret, although he was sure that several parties would be interested in having the services of a mage, even if only to enchant things for them and make their lives easier. If he were to play it right he could probably sell enchanted items, falsify having a mage on the payroll who would carry out enchantments for people or make them scrolls.
Then it came to him, scrolls. Pulling the scroll from his own sash Kell wondered how it hadn't come to him, if he could sell scrolls he'd be rich. To a non-mage a scroll was a ridiculously powerful thing, it allowed them to mimic a mages ability and use the spell written upon it, even if it was only once. The downside was that if he sold scrolls to the wrong people then he could be in for some trouble, if he gave the wrong people the power to use even a limited amount of magic then things could get very bad very quickly.

It was an idea, but the thought of giving people he didn't know all that well the ability to teleport to wherever they pleased didn't appeal to him. Or even giving someone he didn't know the ability to fire off mana shots or shield themselves from damage, both could be used to deadly effect should the person have that intent. The pocket was something he'd keep to himself completely, he doubted you could do such a thing with a scroll but even if you could it was something that he'd keep as his own little thing, the pocket was the first major magic that he'd worked and was a source of pride for him, even if it didn't hold quite as much as he needed it to.
Kell piled up the papers that he'd created, the failures going in a separate pile that he'd most likely get Kevin to pulp down and make new paper from, there was no point in wasting paper just because he'd screwed up. There was no more paperwork for him to do and that suited him just fine, it was neither his forte nor something that he found particularly interesting, reading was much preferred to writing yet somewhat stupidly they'd banned books within Cruinthe. Once again a ban that wasn't in place this far in the lesser controlled south, how the Hanneth had lived without books for so long he wasn't sure, for him they were a source for both knowledge and entertainment, although the two weren't mutually exclusive.
Just as he'd finished readying himself to leave he realised the last, he would need to invest in more military sooner or later. He couldn't be the sole defence of his lands, he was no use if a hundred mercenaries came streaming into his county at this moment. Soldiers were necessary, he needed people to patrol the borders and sort neighbourly disputes, hopefully they wouldn't see much more action than that but he'd rather have an army and not need to use it than suddenly find himself needing one with only his fifty footmen to his name.
Armies didn't come cheap either, there was their upkeep to think about, food, barracks, equipment, it was going to cost him far more than he currently had but he might as well sort out how much exactly while the idea was fresh in his head. He'd start with the cost of hiring them then go onto equipping them then providing them with food and board and upkeep. It was going to be expensive.

Kell stretched as he raised himself from the desk, he'd been there far longer than he'd hoped to have been and hadn't realised just how much time had passed. It was unfortunate that he'd spent so much time in there but it was a necessary evil, the evil being the amount of paperwork that he'd had to do. But at least now it was all done, meaning that he wouldn't have to do it later, or at least not until once again he gained more land or until the improvements he was planning had been made, at that point he'd have to calculate the new yields once again. A job he definitely wasn't looking forward to.
When he looked out of the window however he found that it had begun to rain, maybe it was just pathetic fallacy due to his down mood at having to do so much paperwork, wow wasn't that convenient. A problem that the rain did bring however was the stack of papers in Kell's hands, they needed to be brought to Kevin's shack as officially Kevin was the man in charge and such should have the papers detailing the incomes of the land, should anyone come snooping it should at least look as if he was the man in charge here. If he were to go through the rain all the papers would be wet and therefore useless, and even if he put them inside his top it was unlikely they'd escape all of the rain, there was no way in any hell he was writing these out again just because of rain.
A solution came to him though, another unconventional usage of the magic that he had. Who would have thought that someone would use their power just to protect documents from rain, Kell would, because writing those out had taken him quite a while and was not something he'd enjoyed. Therefore he was happy to use his magic to ensure he wouldn't have to do so again.
