45 AkkCznlc 13 recovered!
The young tracker coughed roughly a few more times before it stopped. He sat for a moment gasping for air in an attempt not to pass out. Once the fit had subsided Jorkahn shrugged. He had the leaves and the water she asked for but he was rather certain he wouldn't be able to find anything else she needed. His stomach was rumbling, something he hadn't noticed again until now due to what had been going on. He still had that rabbit, but Allyria would need something as well. It was time to redeem himself.
The Champion of Jewels placed the bottle of water by the campfire and left the leaves in a bag next to it in case the Countess returned before him. The hunt could take him far away from camp.
Normal? (0)+ K (45)+ Hunting II (10)=55 Fail Success! Rabbit.
Another rabbit, not too far from where they were set up. He had done a fair amount of exploring around Korasus and their campsite the past two days at this point, it didn't seem like the area couldn't support the larger game. Maybe they had all been scared off by now?
Success! Caught the rabbit!
Just as he caught the tracks a rabbit burst out from the underbrush. Almost as if by instinct the hunter's hands moved and an arrow loosed from the bow. It struck true and the rabbit went down, dead before it hit the ground. He didn't use the bow very often, but it seemed his reaction speed from years of combat training and hunting were useful, still.·····

Allyria was now about thirty meters from the camp. She could see it if she looked up, but she was still looking for those particular flowers. It was getting quite annoying. Success was had wen she passed by a very small example of the flower Gladeria. She almost jubilantly squealed as she picked it and held it up to the sun. That was one flower down, she needed more. There was still the matter of the Helixan. She needed both to make the potion. At least two of each. One for herself and one for Jorkahn. Jorkahn first though, he could actually die. Allyria wasn't sure if she could.

One more time, if he found something it would act as a buffer in case they were caught outside longer than they expected or in case they burned the meat while cooking. Jorkahn traveled a bit further away from camp keeping an eye out for signs of game.
Fail Pass Rabbit
Another set of tracks that led him nowhere. A few more moments to find fresher ones. He was soon to add another rabbit to the pile, perhaps. "More rabbits?" Apparently they were all over the place in this area. Not that he was complaining, but he would like to hunt larger game for a change of pace.
Success!
This kill was a bit more flawless than the last. The hunter skinned the rabbit and prepared it quickly before storing his bounty properly. "Alright, back to camp!" And so he went. He would likely arrive shortly after Allyria did.····

Now that she had Gladeria she needed a bundle of Helixan to help prove the theory that the book had. Once she had concoted the first potion, she would be able to leave Jorkahn alone for longer. But first, she needed to call out and make sure he was ok.
"Jorkahn! If you can hear me let me know!"
If she received a response, she'd continue on searching for the flowers she needed. Pulling them up in bunches as she went and tucking them under her arm. Her sweat soaked arm. She forgot for a time that it was indeed the dry season. This was horrible. Why the hell was she not inside in cover of shade and daelar? She considered going daelar outside for now but she still had the Hacklung and it would be worst to spit blood all over herself and not just her clothes. She considered herself for a moment and came to discover that she was already quite filthy.
"Fuck it... I'm going to need a bath anyway."
She tore the light clothes that she had been wearing before off herself and bundled them under her arm as well.
That was if Jorkahn responded. If he didn't she'd forgo searching for additional plants and go looking for him.

Jorkahn was close enough to the camp to hear the Countess call for him. He would come into view of her shortly after she called out. He raised his hands to cup around his mouth and respond.

"Over here!" The man would wave as he jogged over to the camp. He almost didn't notice that Allyria had taken off the rest of her clothes. He was starting to become used to the Drokagr's apparent repulsion of clothing. "Did you find what you needed? I left what I could find by the fire." If Allyria were to look there were eight units of Reeds, two units of straw, and eight units of leaves by the fire. He moved them out of the way so they wouldn't catch alight by a stray ember. "I brought back some meat! I'll cook it now unless you need my help with something."
The Champion lit the fire if it wasn't already and began to cook. Unless, of course, Allyria stopped him for some reason. The warrior would attempt to cook all three pieces of meat evenly.

The Gourmand that he was, Jorkahn ended up cooking the first two pieces of rabbit rather well. Over-confident with his previous triumph, the Ritgr tried to cook the last piece of meat faster by placing it closer to the flames. Unfortunately, his arrogance cost them a good meal, but at least they had enough for the day.···

Allyria had a sour look on her face as she approached the camp, looking on the ground. She was unhappy with her yields. Only half the formula. But she had to eat, and she was just dying in this heat. Water would be good, but she had acquired some dragonfruit. She looked what Jorkahn had acquired over for a moment before answering him. His most impressive feat was the rabbit that he caught. The other materials, the leaves and the straw were mediums for the potions. Stabilizers. Nothing that she hadn't acquired herself. But she supposed she couldn't expect him to know what Gladeria or Helixan looked like.
"Thank you for cooking. That one looks a bit charred? Ah well, here's some dragonfruit to go with it. I got one flower that I needed, but for us both to be cured I need three more. Two of those three need to be an entirely different type of flower too."
She dumped her dragonfruit bag out. Three of the fruits bounced on the ground near the fire. She thought she had acquired more.
"Let's eat and rest. I'll go looking for the rest of the flowers later."
The sorceress put her yields in the pile where Jorkahn had his and sat down on the ground near the fire. Then she picked up one of the fruits and bit into it, gathering the seeds in one cheek, and chewing the flesh on the other. It was juicy.

Jorkahn smiled and then nodded at Allyria's thanks, laughing at his own failure. "My knowledge of cooking is basic at best, unfortunately. I hope you like rabbit! The novice chef set aside the charred rabbit to be disposed of later before taking a large bite out of one of the pieces of meat he was holding. It wasn't seasoned, but it was surprisingly juicy. Jorkahn hadn't realized how hungry he was until just after he started cooking.
"I wish I could help you find the flowers, but I have no idea what I am looking for. It would be a shame to come this far and... Hmm." The Champion of Jewels trailed off and became lost in thought. "Could your flute take us to Mardok? My Lord may be a smith, but he is quite a resourceful leader. I'm willing to bet he may have some of the herbs you are looking for. Unless you believe it would be faster to simply look for them here?" He wasn't entirely certain how any of this worked. He only hoped his suggestion was of use to her.

Allyria took a deep breath to start talking but she started coughing instead. She covered her mouth with her cloak and nearly choked before she got it under control again. Once she had her wits about her again she nodded and took a moment to breath before continuing to speak, grabbing a rabbit haunch for herself in the process.
"Ha... Well the flute will be the only way we can get to Mardok quickly. He may have the materials but I want to prove the theory here, while we are close enough to Korasus. Just in case I have to look for a different cure."
That was all she could muster before getting a bite into the rabbit. She gestured that he did well and kept on eating. She'd get up and start looking for the flowers again soon.

Jorkahn frowned as Allyria began coughing. Fortunately, she swiftly recovered. "You're right. For some reason, I didn't think of that." He shrugged and smiled at her softly. The young man stretched out his back and then his arms. "Now I wonder what I can do in the meantime." He mumbled, almost to himself. "I think I will go hunting one more time. In case we are out longer than we planned." The hunter quickly devoured his rabbit and dragon fruit. Wiping his mouth Jorkahn stood up and unslung his bow from his shoulder.
"I won't go too far, call out if you need me." With a nod the young warrior headed out of camp towards the trees.

'Have I scared away all the game?' It took Jorkahn a long time to find any tracks. However, the tracks he did find were indecipherable. He couldn't tell if they were made by a rabbit or a dragon. Then again, he would probably know if it was a dragon.····

"That's perfect, Jorkahn. I'll find that flower."
Allyria finished her rabbit haunch and stood up, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. She looked around the camp at first. This was in case she had missed it when they had set up their equipment and camp in the first place. She had realized that they had been camped there for a day or so and it was possible, though unlikely that they might have placed something on top of the very flower they needed. That wasn't the case, as Allyria did not find the Helixan she was looking for in the immediate vicinity of the camp, nor under any of their pitched or placed equipment. This was getting to be a long and annoying day. Her luck was akin to Jorkahn's in this manner. She knew what she was looking for but she couldn't find it. Perhaps there weren't even any in this whole blasted plain.

Jorkahn took a deep breath, feeling the frustration beginning to wash over him again. He cursed his other half sometimes, but perhaps the Elkagr blood affected his emotions less than he thought? This wasn't the time or the place to think about that, however. The young hunter leaned in close to the ground yet again and searched.
Failed Success Rabbit Failed Failed
The first set of tracks led nowhere at first glance. They disappeared into some sort of burrow, but the burrow looked uninhabited from the surface. There was no fur or droppings to be seen. A few steps to the right, however, led him to some fresh tracks. He heard the rabbit before he saw it, bounding through the underbrush. The half-breed knocked an arrow and slowly approached. Unfortunately, he wasn't being observant enough of his surroundings and stepped on a twig. The snap sent the rabbit off in the other direction. Jorkahn loosed two arrows, widely missing it both times. He cursed under his breath. Perhaps he still needed practice? ·····

These two half-elves-of-varied-colors-heritages-and-genetics were luckless in someways, and lucky in others. First off, lucky. Neither of them had been in a bad way from the Hacklung for a bit. That was a good thing. Luckless in that their intended goals had not been met despite how easy it supposedly was to find a damned flower or hunt down some small game.
Instead of continuing to search for the time being, she considered her situation on the plain. She stood up and got a note of her bearings, making sure no parties had come upon them at all. She could see the city, as they were only camped a mile or so from it. The city was looming over the eastern horizon. To the north was a great forest that as far as she knew nearly stretched halfway across the country. To the south was a volcano that appeared to be dormant for the time being. Finally, the west appeared to be nothing but plains such as these.
That was about when she had her coughing fit and crumpled onto her knees for a moment. She regained herself and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

Today was simply a bad day for both of them. They were being extremely unlucky and, in the spirit of things, the nasty disease they suffered through together came to rear its ugly head in greeting. Just as Jorkahn felt the peak of frustration from his constant blunders and poor hunting, he felt the familiar rush of blood catch in his throat and propel outwards from the force of his coughs.
The half-breed dropped both bow and arrow to the floor and doubled over waiting for the coughs and the pain to subside. He had little hope, as this particular bought felt particularly bad. Oh well, at least he could excuse no game being around from his disease rather than his incompetence. ·
