What more could be said? He continued to cough, he continued to die. Gasping through breaths, blue in the face, the lad managed some words. "Thank... You..." He attempted to regain his composure once again.

The disease really did mean to kill him. Allyria's healing spells made the pain bearable if only for a moment. Jorkahn fell over onto his side and curled up into a ball. He pulled his arms around his chest as his body heaved with every cough. "I'm.... So.... Sorry..."

"I guess any lesson regarding why we need to take care of this plague is not lost on you. Well... I'll just keep healing you. This is good practice anyway."
Allyria was entirely serious regarding the practice. She was getting better at mending the wounds the disease inflicted upon him. Already she felt like she had a better understanding of the healing process and how to magically induce it upon the needy. This was no minor thing, it would allow her to save someone who needed it in the moment the reaper came for them. Perhaps soon she would be well versed enough to raise the dead the proper way. By stuffing their ghost back in their bodies and healing the damage that was missing. At least, that was the idea anyway. Some research was probably necessary first.

That was about when a gallon, or what seemed to be a river of blood, just came flowing out from under her face mask all down her front after a single cough. Now he was covered in blood, and she was covered in her own blood as well. She was sure she wasn't going to die from this.
The embarrassment though... that would certainly kill her.

The poor lad nodded wholeheartedly between coughs. If anything this particular bout cemented his determination to cure the disease. He had been doing so well for so long, but once it hit the hacklung had crippled him, it seemed. Once again Allyria's comment would have made him laugh had he not been in such excruciating pain. He was happy that he was helping at least in some way.
The Champion attempted to stand up and regain his composure yet again, attempting to stifle the disease wracking his body.

After a few moments, the young warrior was able to fight down the hacking and eventually returned to a relatively normal state. He stopped to catch his breath until Allyria succumbed to the disease. He moved weakly over to her. "Just a couple of friends slowly dying together." He laughed meekly. "I can also offer healing, if you need it. Thank you, by the way."

"I'm...*Slrrrprrppp, WHEEZE*..I'm Good. Let's keep goin- *HACK, CHOKE* going."
Allyria put the flute up to her mouth and waited for Jorkahn to get in position before playing one somber note. She didn't have the heart to play anything cheerful. Not that she'd know how to carry a tune or a melody at all. She wasn't versed in the flute, it was a tool for her. The somber note didn't work the first time, and so she would try it again. Not wishing to malinger here in this dark forest any longer than necessary. With the second attempt being a success, and them finding themselves passing through the portal again, Allyria would laugh.
"Finally! We're moving again!"
She wasn't sure if anyone could hear anyone else when they're being thrust between worlds at such a pace, and then back out.

Another fifty or so miles closer to their destination. This would bring them to the Navarre region, by the ruins of the wall in the Morith province.

Jorkahn would have frowned had Allyria given him enough time to. She expelled the blood, mucus, and lining of her lungs, choked for a bit and swiftly recovered. The Champion placed a hand weakly on Allyria's shoulder and nodded. He watched as she played a single note, paused for a moment, then played another. The next thing he knew their scenery had changed yet again. He blinked a few times, squeezing his companion's shoulder tighter in order to keep his balance. He wondered if he would feel dizzy every time they did this.

The pain from his lungs had subsided at this point, barely a dull twinge from the agony before. The young man looked around to get better bearings of his surroundings. He absentmindedly kept his hand on the Countess's shoulder. "This way of travel is fascinating! I didn't think it possible." A bit of a pained look appeared on the warrior's face as he tried to shake off the dizzy. "A little uncomfortable, though. Not sure if I could ever get fully used to it."
As Allyria mentioned the temple, he thought back to the horrors they both witnessed there. What a strange, terrible place. To keep his mind off it the lad quickly came up with a new topic. "I realize this question comes out of the blue, and feel free not to answer, but do you have any family in Korasus?" A strange time to make small talk, or the perfect time? He wasn't really sure.

Allyria chuckled. She wasn't too comfortable with the mode of transportation herself. It reminded her too much of moving into the spectral realm. The warmth of his hand on her shoulder was nice though. It had been a while since she had seen her family. Vekkia, and the kids. Her thoughts turned to them for a moment, then Jorkahn asked if she had any family in Korasus. She thought about her mother, and her sisters. They were good people.
"Yes, I do. My mother and siblings live there. It's nice there. My younger sister is studying to be a Kalimbra. She's a nice girl. She deserves everything that goes with it."

"Let's keep moving."
Allyria tried to play another note, to keep them moving along. It was a sour note, they went nowhere. She played another. It carried them another fifty miles, landing them on a mountaintop in the Kushfire mountain range. The ashy and shale rock underneath them shifted as they landed on it. From there they could see the lay of the country all around them. The rivers cutting through the land, the forests, and the mountains.
"I've never been up here! You can see everything. Look, you can kind of make out Telle'Korasus from here. The tip of Ne'Augin Kalis, the golden spire, to the left of Balgrath mountain and that volcano. Uhm... Varglath rock. Our next stop appears to be Corday Duchy. Henri is a nice man, but I think he's settled into Korasus. I sort of left him there, so I'm not sure what's happened to his Duchy. At this rate, only a few more jumps and we'll be in Korasus. This is faster than anything anyone has seen. Lucky if a horse can get you a hundred miles a day. We just traveled almost twice that in a few short minutes."

He listened as the Shadeslayer spoke eventually becoming lost in thought of his own family. He had asked the question almost absentmindedly, but now there was a slight twinge of regret. Not because he was learning of her family, but because he reminded himself of his own. She stated that the pair should keep moving which pulled the half-breed out of his thoughts and caused him to nod. They slipped through space again after a brief moment and appeared atop a mountain.

When they landed Jorkahn nearly lost his balance and released his grip on Allyria's shoulder to cover his mouth as he went into a coughing fit. It didn't last very long but it was still painful, at least there wasn't any blood this time. It took a few seconds for him to recover and when he did he finally noticed how breath-taking the view was. It left him speechless for a moment. The Champion passively listened to what his companion was saying and looked in the directions she pointed. He took a few minutes to bask in the sights and to take a lay of the land before walking back over to the Countess and placing his other hand on her shoulder. He nodded.
"Sorry about that. The air is fresh up here and I just needed to bathe in it for a while." He said with a smile. "Would it be possible to make this form of transportation more common?"

"Probably not. This is too dangerous and unstable. If you weren't with me you could wind up on the other side by accident. This grants safe passage."
She hefted the amulet she was wearing when she spoke about safe passage, showing him the Mercurial Lampe. She wasn't entirely sure that was why the Flute never landed her anywhere dangerous, but it did keep them from winding up in a wall or mountain for example. Somehow. This sort of travel was handy though, and it would make a difference in people's lives if it could be replicated. She would have to think on that.

Allyria then began coughing in a fit she couldn't stop. She fell to her hands and knees, blood splattering the shale supporting her after each hack. ·

He wasn't entirely sure what she meant by 'the other side' but he imagined it wasn't a good place to be. He took a good look at the Mercurial Lamp. He wondered where she found it or if she enchanted it herself. The fledgling mage wasn't well versed in these types of things so he didn't really know. He simply shrugged at her comment. He was fine with them being the only ones able to travel this way if it would be too dangerous for others, but perhaps they could find a way to mass produce the effect of the lamp for the common folk to teleport? He wouldn't think about it much. This type of work wasn't his forte, not yet at least.

Once again Hacklung reared its ugly head as his companion fell to the ground. Jorkahn knelt beside her, yet another worried look on his face. He offered his hand to her for when she recovered in case she needed help getting up. "This disease makes something as mundane as traveling a trial of its own.

"That's -Hnnng- the way of dis--hagggkgr- disease."
Allyria allowed herself a moment to suffer. The coughing and spasms came to a pause for a brief moment, and she steeled herself, holding her breath hard. When she breathed again she felt right again. She stood up and straightened herself. Then she leveled the flute and played a brief note, trying to transport them forward. She did not want to malinger on the mountaintop.

This jump landed them in a field a few miles south of the heart of Corday duchy. However, this land was technically owned by the Karligars. They were officially in breach of the border control act. Hopefully they would not be spotted and could continue on without harassment. Allyria looked around to this effect.
"We're in Karligar territory right now. He took over part of Henri's duchy as my friend languishes in Korasus. It can be a decadent place for the rich. Keep your wits about you, don't get swallowed up by all it offers. I hope Henri's people don't suffer under Karligar."·

Jorkahn stood with her and took the usual position before they were both flitted away by the flute. Yet again he blinked at the scenery changing and looked around. It seemed to get a bit easier to handle every time they teleported, maybe he was misguided in relation to his earlier comment. This was yet another place in Cruinthe he had never been before. He didn't know much about Corday, only secondhand stories and what he had heard from his family. They had said Henry was a charitable lord and very good with his money. But how good of a lord could he be if he had left his people at the mercy of Karligar?
Jorkahn didn't like Karligar much and had only recently begun to respect him in the slightest sense. "I know little of Karligar and most of what I do know doesn't paint him in a good light. Though I have seen his militaristic prowess first hand and my lord seems to respect him to some extent. Perhaps he is a better person than I am lead to believe?" Then again, would a good person continue to have such an exorbitant tax to enter their county?

"Don't know, never met the guy. About two more jumps to our destination Jorkahn. We're getting real close."
It was amazing that this form of transportation cut what could have easily been a month or more by foot and at least a week or two by horse into perhaps an hour at most. She thought back to the confrontation she had with the Initiative representative. It was a regrettable circumstance. She didn't want it to go like that, but it was more important to get them off her back. Though now she realized she had gone too far.

Next they would find themselves in the middle of a different field. Balgrath and Varglath were much closer than they were before. Another jump and they'd be inside Korasus territory. Allyria wanted to take a moment for a breather though. She stopped and put the flute away for a second.
"So how good are you at lying? Because we'll likely be questioned fifty times about your presence in Korasus territory, and we'll be skipping the border entirely. It would take us out of our way to go there."·

The half-breed let the topic drop. Perhaps he was worse for talking poorly about a man when he couldn't defend himself. Some would consider it a petty thing to do, but the Champion liked to know more about the people around him. Gods know he was sheltered for long enough. Jorkahn nodded as Allyria explained how close they were getting and got into position as they jumped. The Champion felt the disease rear its ugly head just before jumping. When they landed Jorkahn let the blood out and allowed himself to cough for a moment. It didn't take him too long to recover. He wiped the blood away from his mouth and stood tall again.
"I am convinced this blasted disease will be the death of me!" He cleared his throat a few times and took a drink from a waterskin. "Admittedly, not very good. There haven't been many occasions where I have had to lie. Well, besides my race, I suppose."
HP: 560/700 10 JjPYINsX 10 FAILURE!!!! 35 for recovery Fail. Of course.
Immediately upon uttering the last word of that sentence, the young warrior falls down in a heap, expelling more of his lungs. A look of annoyance was apparently amongst the pain on his face. They would never reach their destination at this rate. If they did surely they would be swiftly kicked out or arrested. ·

"I told you. I won't let you die, Jorkahn. Especially since you're on loan from Duke Mardok."
Allyria said, as he was coughing. She knelt down to his level and put her hand on his back, then pulled the flute out.
"We will just tell them the truth if they ask, then. I won't ask you to lie for me. Besides, we're of noble venture right now. Not like we're looking to sack the city."
She held the flute in her arm in such a way to be able to play a note with one hand, while keeping her other hand on his back. The note was shrill, but it sounded out just the same. She wanted to get them to Korasus as soon as possible.

When they reappeared through the portal the city was in front of them. There were still a few miles to go, but they were there.
"Welcome to Korasus! The tall golden spire is Kissahn An'Handra Kalis. The level it sits upon is called Ne'Augin Kalis. The Golden Spires. We will be spending a little time there, I do have to meet with the Council of Elders. You will not be allowed there. The farthest you can go is N'Janroya, the market level. It is the one above the ground. My family lives on Ne'Turak Balika. I'm sure you'll have a thousand questions when we get there. Let's walk the rest of the way."

Jorkahn nodded in thanks to the woman. She described the plan going forward. The half-breed nodded in response a second time. He braced himself for the jump.

The normal disorientation he felt every time they teleported was gone as were the lung spasms. The pain lingered for a while, but he was able to stand again. The Champion took a good long look at the city while Allyria described it. "You are correct in your assumption." The man looked at the Golden Spire. "A few to start with. Are outsiders not allowed to meet the council? Are they equivalent to kings? Is there anything I should immediately be wary about? Customs, language, attire?" His ignorance was showing but the half-Elkagr was a curious sort, especially in regards to Drokagr culture.
