It had taken him a bit longer to clean up his mess than he thought. And he wouldn't admit that he had gotten a little lost, thankfully his Elkagr ears were good for something. Just when he thought he would be lost in the dark Skaraptican Forests forever, yes a bit melodramatic I know, he began to hear the feint sounds of wood being chopped, trees being felled, and lumber being worked. If not for his ears he wouldn't have heard anything but the crows over the steady clopping of his horse, Libby.
The boy wasn't sure if it was the progressively darkening atmosphere, or if it was because of the strange cawing of the crows, but he felt an ever growing sense of dread and foreboding. Jorkahn gave a light kick to his steed's sides and hurried her along. He was certain he was overreacting, misreading the atmosphere as he is wont to do. But the itching feeling at the back of his head provided a want to tarry no more.
He would join up with his companions soon.
((Will add stats and other things when I get home. Jorkahn probably won't reach the other's until next post. He is at least within earshot if this is okay.))

Monster was the word that got Tyr's attention real fast. This close to town he hadn't expected there to be much of a threat, but apparently it was good fortune that he was fully armed and armored at the time. Locking eyes with the beasts the Duke pulled his helmet on and slipped his gauntlets into the claws at his sides. They were painful weapons, adding wicked blades to the crushing force of his blows. At least that was the idea, now was the time for testing them. "No. I don't think we can try to leave without getting attacked." Not a good situation. Trying to ready the horses and pull the cart away would get them routed. Fighting together seemed like the best option. That or one person fought and the other escaped, but neither of them were likely to be the runner. "I'll be the shield, you be the spear." Years as a smith made him tough as iron, and with a personal set of masterwork armor he was guessing he could take more punishment than Allyria could. The scythe she'd pulled out though definitely seemed like something meant to kill. His tactical assessment thus was that he could take more of a beating, and she could give more of one. Even if they hadn't trained together it was a fairly simple tactic to act upon. As the shield Tyr started walking slowly towards the monsters. He positioned to be in front of Allyria but not blocking her, making himself the target but allowing her freedom to strike. Not that he would idly stand by and get struck, he stayed ready to return whatever came at him with extreme prejudice.

The frontmost Blackrock Crow hopped forward, challenging Tyr directly. It attacked first, swinging its claws in a low arc right at the man's groin. Its black talons cut through what little protection he had there, large gobs of blood came away with the attack. The man could potentially bleed out from the damage alone. The other two Blackrock Crows cawed excitedly at the hit, and the crows in the trees continued to make their noise as well. When Tyr's counter punch came through the Blackrock Crow jerked its head back out of the way, dodging the attack. "Oh damn they're fast!"
No duh, Allyria. They're faster than you are.
Scarlet.
Whatever.
It was time to slow the big hooded birds down. Now that she was done standing around with her scythe up her butt she was acting. And acting as fast as she could. The crystal thorns sprouted up out of the ground to entangle her foes around their... legs. She assumed they had legs under those cloaks. Nevermind, now she was imagining what was under those cloaks. Scary, a whole lot of scary under the cloaks. Gaunt birdy figures with feathers and claws and... like a shaved turkey under there.
"Oh by the way. I'm a sorceress. Sorry, should have told you. Can we still be friends?"
Way to go.
Shut up. That was smooth.

AND YOU HAVE MY AX! Or would it be 'and I am the ax'? Wait, this wasn't important. What was important was that Jorkahn had seen the hit, seen the blood. It was everywhere, and if it wasn't stopped soon his friend would likely bleed out. The boy nearly let panic take hold and attempted to climb off his horse. xyQ6oW8j- Success! And he stuck the landing, quite gracefully considering the situation they were in. The young warrior immediately sprinted his way over to Tyr and began administering first aid. He had taken it upon himself to learn such a useful skill despite his father. Most of his family was under the impression that they would always be near a hospital and have enough money to pay for treatment, and they had yet to realize, save his sister, just how dangerous the situations were that the young man could get himself into. Regardless the would be doctor pulled out some make shift bandages and gathered a few leaves to patch up Tyr's wound real quick. He surely hoped the pain wouldn't be too much for the larger man to bare. The hastily crafted bandage did nothing but fall apart in his hands. Jorkahn cursed silently before briefly glancing back at their attackers. It was only now that he realized that it wasn't Allyria fighting the monsters, but the rather intimidating Scarlet whom he had fought in the tournament. He would have time to realize how surprising this was later, for now she seemed to have things under control so the would be doctor would once again attempt to stop the Duke's bleeding. He would risk taking his attention away from his enemies.

Well that...didn't go quite as planned. In fact it hurt. A lot. Tyr made a terrible shield. The Duke backed up in a hurry, blood leaking from just under his midsection as he moved. UFbZdF9e His muscles gave off a searing pain as he moved, entirely unhappy that the beast's claws had found their way through the belt, and it briefly overwhelmed him. The dizziness brought him to the cold hard ground, giving Tyr a fantastic view of his impending doom.
And then...stuff. There wasn't an apt description for the sudden appearance of the crystallize thorns wrapping around the monsters until Allyria's sudden candor.
"I'm sure we can talk about that when neither of us are in immediate danger or being torn apart."
Wouldn't you know it around then Jorkahn managed to sprint over and start applying makeshift bandages to a very awkwardly placed wound. While there were some hissing protests over the pain Tyr did nothing to push the lad away. Without such assistance he was likely to bleed out on the spot. After the first round of 'help' adrenaline started to kick in and the pain faded out. The smith applied his considerable strength to the bandage, putting pressure on the wound. With luck the bleeding would be stanched quick like and Tyr could get back into the skirmish. You know, taking the hefty strikes like the shitty shield he was.
"Good to see you lad. Watch your hands."

The crystal thorns entangled the crows damnably quickly. They panicked, and started clawing at their legs to tear the thorns off of them. The one that had been engaged in close combat with Tyr only managed to cut the crystals once, the other two swipes it attempted missed entirely. It was afraid to cleave on its own legs. Likewise, the other two managed to cut the thorns twice, but it wasn't enough to free them. They could do nothing else but try to get free. Scarlet smirked. While the boys were busy patching up Tyr, and the monsters were trying to claw her crystal thorns off of them, she closed in to attack. Brazen and bold, she reached the first hooded crow and stood just under a meter from the beast. There she leveled her left hand at it's head, and giggled.
"Eat glass."
Nice.
Right?
Under her sleeve, beneath her red cloak her arm grew hot. Purple light tried to escape through the creases and stitches of her arm. Then suddenly a full ten shards of magical crystal shot out of her outstretched palm. They streaked faster than the eye could follow straight for the head of the crow in front of her. Burning with power, her arm continued to smoke, and her eyes glowed purple. Smoke rose from her eyes every time she blinked. Yet all these things were rapidly cooling. Eyes returning to normal as she readied herself and looked for the results of her attack.
Scythe in her other hand, she was ready to dodge and block any assault that her foe may try to make on her. The blade hummed with power. Tyr was down for the moment, and the crows were otherwise occupied. She needed to regain the initiative for the rest of them.

After being satisfied with the patch job the boy nodded and smiled at Tyr reassuringly. "I promise that I am better at this than I look. If you need time to rest take it, we can handle them without you at least for a little while." With that the boy gave Tyr a quick once over and moved towards the Blackrock Crow that Scarlet was basically shotgunning in the face. When he reached it the young warrior brought his large weapon above his head and attempted to split the creature's head. He made sure not to step out in front of the woman, and was instead off to her right. "Insurance." His voice had a bit of a cold tone to it and his demeanor was rather grim. Much different to his usual skittish nature. Whether the attack hit or not the lad would back away slightly and take a defensive stance just like his companion. There was no point in running into the fight and getting attacked by the other two beasts if they managed to get free. Also, he didn't want to risk getting hot magical glass in the back.

When the bleeding was staunched Tyr found himself drifting into a rage. True combat wasn't a thing the Duke engaged with a whole lot. All his life he'd been trained, where there was no actual danger, or commanded, where others fought and died for him. He'd taken both situations seriously mind you, he trained as if it was for survival and remember his few dead, but this was still one step above. It inspired a battle fury that funnel his thoughts into a simpler theme. He wanted to beat that thing, and he wanted to do it a lot. The rage was only colored by a will to survive such things, which meant not getting hit again.
_jyf_cih (Strength check; 93 fail.) Tyr ripped at the ground to pull himself forward but the pain didn't allow him to take off like he had planned. Instead it pulled him around to be ready to go, but he still had to get back to his feet. The other two seemed to have the first beast well in hand so Tyr maneuvered around to the side in order to reach one of the remaining two. He wasn't stable enough to get there and send another jab off so this time he got in reach and prepared. The claws were up as guards and Tyr was ready to twist out of the way of any other gouging blows.

Summary Blackrock Crows A-C suffer 24 MDmg from Thorns. Blackrock A suffers 1,280 MDmg from Glass shot. Decapitated. Bleeding out. Blackrock C is free from the thorns.
The crows all clawed viciously at their thorns. Only the one on the far right of the group managed to break free from the crystal, tearing the crystal vine apart. It dashed to engage Jorkahn as soon as possible. It did not notice the other man that was trying to flank the other one, and it could not see the girl that was responsible for the thorns. All it saw was Jorkahn. The front Crow tried its hardest to break free, but was suddenly met with several shards of magical glass passing through its skull. Blood, bone, and brain flew out the holes blasted through the back of the creature's head, scattering on the forest floor. That viscera burst into green flames as soon as it touched the air and continued to burn harmlessly. The creature gurgled bringing its talons up to chest, as if it were reaching for its face. Its head bent backwards, beak pointing towards the sky. That's when the axe passed through its neck and the head hit the ground. The head continued to gurgle. The crow that Tyr had approached was too busy trying to break free to notice that he had approached so closely so quickly. It tore at its bonds, but could not get free. With Jorkahn's insurance taking the creature's head clean off Allyria noticed that one of the others, the one to her right, was free now. As part of the monster in front of her was no longer blocking her vision. She attempted to kick the headless body over so that she could target this other enemy effectively. If she managed to kick it over she'd of course notice that it was coming straight at her and Jorkahn. She'd take the moment to target the foe in that case, turning her body to keep Tyr and Jorkahn out of her field of fire as much as possible (though she was still learning exactly what that was) and then unleash a second blast of shards at the other vile abomination's head.
Provided her foe attacked her, she'd of course be ready to defend herself.
There's a lot of "hypothetical conditions" going on here. All of it hinged on whether or not she could get the monster in front of her out of her way.
She hoped her legs were strong enough.

The word overkill came to mind. Perhaps even that would be a rather hefty understatement in this situation. Scarlet's heated glass sent the crow's viscera flying in every direction. A large amount of it splattered against his cloak and armor. Before the body could even hit the ground his axe took off what was left of the creature's head. More foreign blood caked his being than ever before. But, before he could react to the gruesome slaughter he had just partaken in he noticed that the furthest beast had gotten free, and it was heading straight for him. Turning to face the anomaly the boy took a peculiar stance with his weapon. He had gone to block any potential attack the Crow could have thrown at him, but his footing was poised as if he was to spring forward at any moment. The two handed weapon was held out in the palms of his hands but his fingers pointed up towards the sky. The young warrior wouldn't attack this time hoping Allyria's shotgun blast would stop his attacker before it could reach him. He would play it safe for now, he didn't know just how dangerous these creatures were. All he knew was if their attacks landed it would do some serious damage. May as well be defensive and not regret it later.

With Allyria and Jorkahn taking names on the other side it was time for Tyr to kick some ass himself. Plus angry as he was it wasn't like sitting back would be acceptable, he needed to dish out some payback for nearly losing any future children he might have. One step closed the distance between the Duke and the man-bird-thing, and another semi-lunging step let Tyr twist from the hips, where the power comes from, to throw a heavy blow at the monster's head. A powerful enough strike to the skull would shatter it, normally a quick way to end something's life.
Or it could just be weird and not die from that, but one step at a time. After the strike Tyr would pull back into a more neutral stance, ready to move or block an incoming hit with his claws. One hit was enough, there didn't need to be another today.

The first blackrock crow stumbled around ineffectively, the body looking for its head, the head still there on the ground with extreme brain damage. Skull split open, brains and viscera leaking out of the holes in it, it was a picture of horror. Then thankfully Allyria kicked the body in the chest, it landed on the ground several meters away from the head. It still reached around ineffectively. The third crow took a chest cavity full of crystal shard as it struggled to get free from the entanglement. It's leg was also wounded in the thigh, blood leaked out of the wound. Blood sprayed out of the chest cavity. It splattered the ground dying the earth crimson. The crow couldn't do anything else for the moment. Then it managed land a hit on Jorkahn as they faced off, it was excited to devour its enemies, excited by the blood loss. Jorkahn like the tournament champion he was used the foe's momentum against it and bounced the crow's claws with his weapon back onto it. It barely had suffered any damage from the blow, but was surprised by the endeavor. Tyr had faced off squarely against his foe, which was still entangled by the thorns. His punch miraculously missed as the creature ducked to try to more accurately tear the thorns from its legs which had it immobilized otherwise. Oh what horrible fate! Continuing to conspire to make them both useless for the time being!
