Floras 21st.
Allyria, tired, wobbly, and just fed up with walking found herself just outside a stable that was selling beasts of burden. She was sitting in the dirt near the middle of the road. The traffic just moved around her like a rock in a stream, ignoring the half-breed entirely.
She liked it that way. Her eyes lazily moved over to the stable, and that's when she got an idea. Overburdened with an abundance of money from an unknown benefactor who happened to respond to her family's personal seal, (there were many like it but the others had deviations as far as she could remember) she looked over the stock. They were a fine bunch of horses.
The one she chose however seemed to be the noblest of the bunch. A horse that matched her own hair in color.
She had to have it.
It was a Verenald Thoroughbred apparently. She wrote a cheque for the horse. The half-breed was overly pleased with herself when she sat atop it, riding out of the stable under another creature's power.
Allyria buys a Verenald Thoroughbred.
1K Gold.

The walk south had taken its toll on Torin, he was exhausted and weary of further travel. He wished to leave Sovereign lands, and coming from so far north, it was not a simple journey. When he saw the stables, his heart leapt, a horse would make his journey infinitely less troublesome, and considerably faster.
So it was that Torin came to be perusing the horses in the stables, looking at each as to which would serve him better. He looked first to the thoroughbreds, amazing creatures they were, but they cost too much of his coin to justify. He also like the look to the Cruinthian horses just as much, they just weren't quite majestic, having a more homely look to them. One jumped out from the rest, a purely black steed save for the reddish brown diamond between its eyes. It had a wild look to him, one that connected with Torin.
Torin payed the stablemaster the 200 gold coins to acquire the beast. "Does he have a name?"
"That one there, we call him jet, but he's yours now, you can call him what ye like."
"Jet's just fine, pleasure doing business with you." With that he rode off on his new horse.

Whelp, horses were needed. So travel could go faster, because getting places quickly was important. " How many Verenald Thoroughbreds do you have? I need three." Guinevere did not feel like talking down the prices of the creatures.

"Alas, we only have one left. A nice greyskin came in and purchased the other one. We do have some very nice Navarran thoroughbreds. Five of them. Sorry I can't accomodate you on the Verenalds. Perhaps the one verenald, two navarrans would suffice?" --Harstan

"I'll take the last Verenald, and I forgot that I would need another for my guard. I'll take three of the Navarrans." Pulling out yet another large payment. She could easily come back at a latter point for more of the faster steeds. The Navarrans could be of use elsewhere.

--Backdated to a highly-irrelevant time--
Henri happened to be in Sorath, dickin' around, when he remembered his duke Dad's birthday was coming up. He thought long about what to get the old man. "Hmm," said Henri, "I think I'll buy him a horse."
So he did. He bought a Navarran Thoroughbred, since for some reason they were out of Verenalds at that time, too. Funny how trade goes in cycles. But they were 500 Ritz back then, the Navarran ones I mean, as they were a little in style at the time. He picked out a nice one, brown spotted with white, and shoved his money at Harstan. Of course, the horse was no compare to Bellemere, the beauty which Henri owned.
Since then, Jean's ass has grown too hard and boney and breakable, and he doesn't like going out riding much anyway, so yeah.

-IN THE FUTURE-
Rigel walked into the market as if in a walking dream, somewhat unaware of himself or the events which had unfolded. He seemed to remember, or foresee, a wall and a... a horse!
Nothing was clearer than the horse before him. "I'll buy that one," he felt himself say, pointing to the horse. He felt something for it, a sort of kinship, but wasn't sure why. It was a Navarran filly, its coat a lightly-dappled buckskin yellow, with a black mane and hooves.
He felt like he'd been searching for it for a while... He dropped 500 Ritz in the man's hand, and walked away. He was smiling.
As he woke from his slumber back in Hek'Cruica, he realized that perhaps this was only a portent of things to come, only a shade of the reality which would inevitably present itself. He'd surely be thinking other thoughts, saying other words in greater detail... When the time came.

Some time before his match was to begin Jorkahn walked into Harstan's Stables. He had been debating whether to return home after, what he thought to be, his inevitable loss in the first match. This would take a rather long time, and it would be nice to have a horse in case he felt he needed it. Perhaps it could be used if he injured himself, or to escape from some sort of threat. Or maybe he just didn't feel like travelling on foot for once? The reason was not important, what was important was that he wanted a horse.
The moment he came up to the man in charge, he froze. He still wasn't any good at talking to people. After a few moments he worked up the courage to speak. "D-D-Do you have any Verenald Thoroughbred horses l-left?" The boy kept his face hidden and was as fidgety as always.

Jorkahn lifted his face up to look at Harstan when he answered, a meek smile adorning his lips. "W-Wonderful!" Before walking over to the horses the boy slipped a large bag of 1000 rits out from underneath his cloak and handed it to Harstan. He took a few minutes to look over each horse, lightly scratching each one on the top of their muzzles. Eventually the soon to be owner of a brand new horse stopped in front of a rather large one. It's hair was a dark brown and it had white spots on its flank, shoulder, left eye, and back right hock.
"I will take this one." It almost seemed as if the boy was talking to the horse. It was amazing how much easier it was to talk to animals. When all was said, done, and filed away Jorkahn would leave with his new horse in tow, cooing and petting it the entire time.

After hiring Azrak from the Mercenary's Guild, Henri decided the Skaldi would need a horse. They were traveling together, of course, so they'd need to be keeping pace. And a Skaldi riding behind him wouldn't be nearly as intimidating as them riding side-by-side. Also, logistically, the horse probably couldn't take it.
"Hello Harstan, long time no see," Henri said. "I'd like to buy a Navarran Thoroughbred, please. Unless you have two Verenalds."

Post by King Redgar Karligar on Jul 2, 2015 8:15:05 GMT -5
The argument had been bitter but Redgar had won. He was going to buy the Navarran thoroughbreds. Loyalty to region and all that. His Duchy was in the Navarre, for all he knew those very horses could have come from his land. They didn't, but he didn't know that. Walking all the way to Sorath had been quite the trip. There hadn't been a decent inn along the way, nor was there a tavern worth mentioning in Morith. It made him quite angry.
Perhaps if he had the time he would consider amending that situation by acquiring the available land between his Duchy and Morith province for himself, and building inns along the road. He had considered it briefly.
Mostly what he did was try to avoid his cousin Mina's ire. She was a nasty person in general. He didn't know why he brought her along.
Oh... right. Katrina needed to stay behind to run things while he was gone. She was ever so useful.
So he decided on the Navarran thoroughbreds.
"I'll take four of them. Two each of opposite genders if possible."
"Right you are sir."
With horses the return trip would be that much faster. He hadn't run into any available smiths in Morith or in Sorath so far. He'd spend the night in the Serpent's Head, and then return. At least he wouldn't be returning completely empty handed.
