Why was he out here again? It almost seemed that it wasn't worth it, he still hadn't gotten that mount that he was after, money was still tight and so he was walking once again. These sorts of journeys weren't something that he enjoyed particularly, but they helped to keep him fit at least and were slowly building up his stamina which was always good, there was no way of telling if that stamina would help but better safe than sorry lest he get chased by yet another crow. Even the thought of being chased by one once again filled him with fear, it still wasn't an enemy that he could beat, that much he was fairly sure of, maybe with several others to help they could defeat one but it would be at great damage to themselves still.
Today was his day off so to speak, he'd resolved to leave his lands and go for a walk in the woods, enjoy some time doing only what he pleased rather than work towards the betterment of his lands and it's people. The idea had come from Kevin, a result of Kell's lack of sleep and near constant working on one aspect of life or other, he'd effectively been spent away to spend the day at rest and do as he pleased. Like that was going to happen.
The real reason he was out this far was his search for land. He planned to expand his borders and was trying to decide on a goal for that expansion, he'd need to start around his own county of course, trying to manage a seperate county which shared no borders with his first was likely to end badly for one or the other. It was a decision now of expanding north, east, south or west, east wouldn't work due to the close proximity to the highway and Helkorth lay not far to the south. North lay Morith and Sorath not to far offyet innorsford was a fair distance to the West, enough so that he figured he could unite several of the smaller counties and still not be too near to the town.
He'd passed a river which was useful, with a river he could set people to fishing, another potential source of income. Also there was plenty of forest for lumber and land for farms and mills which wouldn't hurt to be added. The terrain was quite pleasing to the Half-Drokagr, although he doubted he'd expand quite this far west, he was probably to near to Innorsford as it was. It was a pleasant spot he'd found, better that he didn't expand and colonise this area, leaving it to it's current tranquillity would be much better.

Thrawn had gone out of Innsford, he told himself he wanted to try his hand at hunting, but the more important reason was he was going stir crazy in the tavern. Thrawn had left Darthak to explore, while Sorath offered a lot to do and see Innsford was not as active.
However Thrawn underestimated how damned hot it was. On a whim the Darthaki decided to disrobe and jump in the river. After cooling off in the water for a while he got out and opted to only put on his pants as the sun dried him off, keeping the rest of his clothing and equipment in his travel bag.
Now able to enjoy the environment, Thrawn strolled further along the forest. That's when he ran into the familiar Half-Drokgar. It took Thrawn a while to figure out where he'd seen him before but he eventually got it, Thrawn still did not remember his name though.
"Hey there," he said waving at the man. "Don't suppose you have a towel on you?"

It was quite peaceful in his little corner of the forest, Kell could hear the animals all around even if he couldn't see them, then again actually finding animals had never been a huge strong point for him considering how useless his tracking and hunting skills seemed to be. Still it was nice to hear the birds tweeting and squirrels making whatever that noise that squirrels made was called, it was an interesting point that near enough everyone knew of bird noises but not all that many people knew of squirrels, he supposed that a hunter would have to know the noise but other than that would many people have a reason to.
His thoughts however were soon out of his mind when he saw the approaching human, Kell's hand went to his blade almost without thought before he realised who it was. It seemed to be one of his former companions from the alliance's mission, it was odd to think that he'd randomly meet someone he knew this far out into the forest but wasn't unpleasant.
The fighter seemed just out for a stroll judging by his slight state of undress and the bag he carried, as he got closer Kell could see that he wasn't entirely dried off and was wondering why exactly he was wet. "Hello, sorry I don't have a towel on me at this moment." Kell replied, bringing a towel with him would probably be a good idea on long walks incase he should fall into a lake or it started to rain, an idea he'd keep in his head for the future. "What brings you this far into the woods?" He hadn't gotten particularly close with the man the first time they'd met but there was nothing preventing him from being polite at least.

"That's alright, damned sun will dry me up soon," Thrawn said, already feeling the heat attack him like a ball of flames. Thrawn sat on a nearby rock as they spoke. He had no where to go and figured getting to know one more Half-Drokgar could not hurt.
"Well, I tell myself I was out hunting, even bought a bow to try it out, but honestly Innsford is quite dull and I just went out for a walk," he said shrugging. "The walk turned into a dip in the lake, highly recommend it if you're looking to cool down."
Thrawn noticed how tense the man was, so he decided to play it calm. Then again Thrawn thought if he had been aproached by large half dressed man he would be nervous as well.
"Sorry I don't remember your name, I'm Thrawn by the way," he started rummaging through his bag looking for something to dry his face with, he found a shirt and with a shrug used it to wipe his face. He took out his bow and quiver setting them aside until he dried off.

Weather--
Though the temperature was high, and the humidity was so low it might as well had not existed, the wind began to pick up until it was a torrent of howling gusts blowing through the forest. Each gust had the potential to knock a man off their feet and throw them several feet if they weren't paying attention.
-Players strength is reduced by 10% to compensate for the gusts.-
A salamander skittered out from the brush just then. It had managed to get the drop on the half-breed and the mountain man. They had not sensed it, and it smelled a meal before it. It was mad with hunger. The current season had driven the small animals that it would hunt into a form of hibernation, and the plants were only producing shade. It would attack immediately. Its attack found purchase on Kell's right hand, drawing blood.

"Kell." He replied to Thrawn, stifling a laugh at the thought of hunting once again. "Hunting is something I'm appalling at, do you hunt often?" Kell asked, noting that Thrawn had laid out his bow next to him and was looking through his bag, he'd had enough experience with the man to think it was quite unlikely that the bow was to be used on him, but still he was cautious. Thrawn seemed nice enough, quite easygoing and happy to chat, they were both just out for a walk it seemed.
Unfortunately whatever force it was that controlled the weather didn't seem to like that plan at all. It had already been quite hot before but it almost seemed that the temperature increased more. Kell found himself wishing for a cool breeze or something similar just to help cool himself down, and he was allowed his desire to an extent. Gusts of wind whipped up out of nowhere, the first near taking the Half-Drokagr off of his feet, it was only through crouching low and placing his arms on the ground to steady himself that he fended off the first few.
While he'd been speaking of hunting it appeared he'd become the prey, a salamander had appeared seemingly from nowhere and bitten into Kell's hand, accompanied by a large amount of cursing and swearing from Kell as well as a fair wound on it. Sure he'd said that he was bad at hunting but he hadn't thought that he was quite this bad. "By Azuloth Where did this thing come from" Kell attempted to shout over the wind to Thrawn, drawing his shortsword with his good hand as he warily regarded the beast.
His hand was in quite a bit of pain, Kell gritted his teeth against it and watched the salamander, it was just his luck that on his day off he'd be attacked by a beast. It wasn't as if it was particularly easy either, the gusts of wind were still coming and he was having to remain wary and poised for them as well. Kell took a step forward with his leading leg and attempted to slice at the creatures neck, on the return swing attempting to aim another swipe at it's neck once again, the neck seemed the logical choice to him. If the creature still lived after that he'd ready himself to dodge it's next attack.
He didn't anticipate it being much of a fight after all, it was only a salamander, in fact he was more embarrassed and peeved that it'd happened with Thrawn watching.

"Well I used to, hunting is a little different in Darthak," Thrawn said. The wind made him grab his bow and quiver before they were whisked way, he managed to stuff them back into the bag. It was then when the salamander attacked Kell. With no time to don his armor Thrawn grabbed his bone mace and shield and came to Kell's side. Salamander's do not live in the Darthak region, but he figured the 'hit it until it stopped moving' strategy would be as good as any at that moment.
"Now this is the sort of hunting I did," Thrawn exclaimed as he stepped forward to attack if the salamander was still alive after Kell's slices. Thrawn would bring his mace down on the reptile's head aiming to crush its skull, if he missed or it somehow survived he would swipe at its side.

Kell enjoyed a brief moment of pride at the kill, sure it was a salamander so it couldn't have put up that much of a fight, but it was his most successful hunt so far. It was odd that his most successful hunt was the one that he hadn't been expecting, or at all trying for, but it was a success nonetheless. The salamander was dead, he was not, the only injury to him was a bite mark across his hand, it hurt a lot but he believed that it wouldn't be fatal.
An unfortunate side effect however was that he was now covered in the beast's blood, his clothing was caked in it as were his hands, even his face had bits of spray on it. He wondered how he must look right now to Thrawn, having just killed a beast and now standing near enough covered in it's blood. When he turned he saw Thrawn next to him, mace and shield in hand, it seemed that the warrior had been ready to help in removing the pest should the need have arisen, luckily it hadn't. It was difficult for him to form something to say, Thrawn had been ready to help but hadn't actually had to help, he'd managed to kill the salamander before the help was needed, but still he appreciated the fact that he was ready to give help. Kell settled on a nod of the head and a smile.
The blood was everywhere, he managed to wipe the majority of it off of his hands and face but still there were smears of it all over him, his short sword also was covered in it as was his clothing. He'd need to find a way to get it all off of him, he couldn't afford to walk the whole distance back to his lands covered in blood, it would be too gross even by his standards. "So, that dip in the lake you mentioned earlier? Wouldn't mind it so much now" Kell shouted over the winds that were still making things a bit difficult, spreading his arms to show off his blood soaked clothing to Thrawn.
Kell took a moment more to examine the corpse, it'd be a shame to leave such a thing to just rot away out here, surely there was use to it at least. There seemed several useful bits of bone teeth and scale in there, not to mention some meat that looked edible enough, apparently salamander tasted well enough. Maybe once he'd washed off as much of the blood as he could they could have a small barbecue.

Thrawn stopped in his tracks as the salamander was quickly dispatched by Kell's blade. The large man smiled back at Kell when he turned to him. "And you said you were bad at hunting," Thrawn chuckled as he examined the corpse of the salamander, he would let Kell take whatever he wanted off it, and take the leftovers for crafting. Thrawn has been getting better at making things, but getting materials was a hassle and can be quite costly. "Right, you should get washed up, that blood might attract other creatures," Thrawn said as he made his way bag to his bag and dug out his armor, axe and bow. He put on all his gear and made sure that the quiver was properly fastened so the arrow would not go flying in the wind. Once he was ready he stared making his way back to the river, he called over to Kell. "Don't forget the corpse, we might be able to cook up some salamander stew!"

"I don't know if you could really call that hunting" Kell was willing to let thrawn lead as he knew where the water was situated, Kell obviously didn't. The thought of other animals being attracted to the blood was something that he hadn't considered for himself, but it was a good point nonetheless, they'd been lucky at least that the only thing to attack them had been a salamander, they were in the middle of the woods after all and taking no precautions so it was unsurprising other animals lived there and would even see them as prey.
The idea of a salamander stew was more appealing than simple steaks. If Thrawn could cook that would be great, because Kell was worse st cooking even than he was hunting, there was no way he would be able to make a decent stew. Kell took a small dagger its sheath at his thigh and sliced some scales from the corpse, making the action of pocketing them whilst actually transporting them to his pocket. He did the same with a tooth and stuck a sizeable bone through his sash.
Once Thrawn had taken his pick also Kell slung the corpse over his shoulder and would follow Thrawn, the blood was rapidly drying on his clothing, it was a rather uncomfortable feeling to be covered in blood.

"Where I'm from if you manage to kill something and eat it, that's hunting." Thrawn lead the way to the clearing while keeping an eye out for any more approaching creatures. He was glad that Kell was willing to share some of his spoils. The Barbarian put the two bones and the tooth in his bag, he liked the guy already, Thrawn seemed to be getting along with a lot of Half-Drokagr for some reason. Although Thrawn had boasted about making salamander stew, he had never done much cooking outside of roasting things over a fire, and he was a little worried that he got his companion's hopes up. "So what brings you so far away from home, if you don't mind me asking," Thrawn said, though he had no time to jot down his thoughts as he was too weary of another attack Thrawn would try to remember as much of his thoughts as he could for his journal.

"I guess if you think of it like that then yeah it's hunting, significantly more successful than i've been before." The corpse on his shoulder was slowly dripping blood onto him still, he figured it wouldn't really make a difference considering he was already covered in the blood. It was a weight on his shoulder but not the worst he'd carried, nowhere near as much as carrying loads of iron and stone from place to place, that had been a killer.
Thrawn also seemed to be thinking it, he was scanning their surroundings almost as if he expected another attack, they'd been far to careless really there was any number of creatures living in this forest that could see them as a tasty meal. Both of them were now watching their surroundings much more carefully so he hoped that it wouldn't happen again. The bite on his hand stung still, but it wasn't much of a wound, he'd bind it when he got to the water, he'd need to wash it out first anyway.
"Not much really, it's a day of no work for me, well rather I was forced into having a day of no work by the count, something about overworking myself I guess. Decided a walk in the woods might be nice and relaxing." Kell laughed a bit at the last bit, so far it hadn't been to bad, he wasn't injured particularly badly and he even had something to show for it, maybe not relaxing but definitely entertaining.

Either Kell had not understood Thrawn's question, or that he had deflected it with his answer in an attempt to change the subject. Thrawn had meant why had Kell come to Cruinthe, but it seemed odd to him that the Half-Drokagr had referred to it as his own home. Ever the inquisitive type Thrawn decided to dig a little deeper.
"So Cruinthe is home to you? Must be hard with how non-humans are being treated recently, these new laws are atrocious," Thrawn said as the approached the river.
If nothing happened as the get to the river Thrawn would sit by a rock next to the river, and motion to Kell to drop the Salamander over by him. "Set it her and get cleaned, I'll try to get as much meat as I can," he said.

Kell considered it for a moment, Korasus was where he'd been born and lived most of his life, it had been his home for most of his life up until this point. But now he had his own lands, however minor they might be, he was more free out here away from the colony and could pursue whatever he wanted. It was a fairly new home but yes he would consider it his home. "Yes Cruinthe is my home, only the southern part of it though currently for obvious reasons. The new laws have cut all of my kind down, even if I wanted to get back to Korasus Id have to travel for weeks through territory where my very existance is illegal. It was a mistake of the crown though, they've pitted themselves against all the non-humans in Cruinthe and I don't think they even realise quite how difficult of a fight that's going to be."
Kell slung the salamander corpse down in front of Thrawn where he saw, it was good that Thrawn was able to do this part as once again he had no experience with gutting or cleaning a kill, the rabbits had been hard enough. Maybe a salamander would be easier because it was bigger, either way Thrawn seemed to know what he was doing so he considered that a bonus.
Kell peeled the leather armour from him and untied his sash, placing it on the bank of the river with the armour and closely followed by his shirt, wading out into the water and beginning to wash as much of the blood from his body as he could. Each item in his sash he cleaned as well as he could, the blade he simply washed in the water and dried as best as he could with what he had, he'd oil it again once he got home. For now he'd just continue to scrub away at his body and clothing to get off all of the blood.
