-Permanent Thread -NPCs are subject to permanent death
A hidden temple near the western border of Morith's provincial territory. People clad in dark robes have been seen coming and going from this location. Those hunters and rangers that have passed by have either gone missing, or were found days later in a state of catatonic shock. The villagers in the area refuse to go anywhere near it and warn travelers against it. Dungeon InformationThe Dungeon is a Dark and Terrifying PlaceFor this dungeon, an independent measure of Fear other than the fear check is used. Each player character and Player owned NPC in the dungeon receives fear points equal to ten times (10x) their Knowledge stat. Every frightening or horrible thing that the player comes across negatively affects those fear points. Once the fear points reach 0, the character suffers a mental break, the character then flees the dungeon and removes themselves from the thread. Fear points can be recovered, but only by a few ways. - Killing the monster that caused the fear point loss will result in half the lost points back.
- Resting in a safe place (a room with no monsters) will return 5 points per turn.
Silent as the VoidThe Quiet Temple is a mystical and terrible place. Inside, not a sound can be heard. Inside the temple, no one can hear you scream. The Way is Shut, the Monster's Blood is the KeyA magical spell that can't be dispelled prevents a character from leaving unless they have lost all of their fear points or the monster casting the spell is dead. Starting location:A 2 meter wide, 4 meter long limestone hallway. The door behind will permit people to enter, but not leave. The door ahead, is normal and unlocked.

Just Us Together, Alone with our ThoughtsAllyria was not expecting this when she entered the building with Jorkahn Wealddir not far behind her. The initial room was small, but strange. A feeling of dread was hanging in the air. She turned to start saying something to the lad but no noise came out of her mouth. She was sure she hadn't lost her voice in the few steps between the outside and inside of the building. She struggled to get a sound out and failed completely. She stamped her foot on the limestone floor, and nothing. Perhaps she had not gone mute, but instead deaf. She watched her companion to see his reaction to the situation. Was she alone in this sensory deprivation, or was it the same for him? She waited and analyzed his reaction patiently, then started rummaging through her backpack to find a piece of paper and something to write with. There was no paper, but a piece of charcoal was there. She started to scrawl on the wall: I can't hear anything, can you?

They had entered the temple just fine. Surprisingly they hadn't run into a single bit of resistance on the journey here. It rubbed him the wrong way, he had been on guard the entire time as the Countess had asked. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for the feeling of dread the moment the group entered the first building. He couldn't put his finger on why at first, having not seen Allyria attempting to speak. It wasn't until she stamped her foot on the floor that he looked at her, eyes wide with a mix of confusion and the realisation that everything around him had gone quiet.
As the Lady Allenmorde rummaged around in her pack, Jorkahn clapped his bandaged hands together to try and get a sound, any sound, to reach his ears. Nothing, not even the rush of blood in his body. It was almost maddening. His pain was still there, as his still injured hands produced a tinge of pain when they banged together. It gave him an idea, but before he could look around more he noticed his companion was writing on the wall. He leant in to read it and shook his head in response.
After looking around for a brief moment he held up a finger asking Allyria to wait for a moment. With this not said but at the very least done, the Champion began to scavenge around for rocks or other kinds of palm-sized debris on the ground. He made sure not to venture too far.

There was no change to what the two intruders could sense. Despite that, they would not be able to shake the feeling that they were in a den of evil.
Monster movement complete.

So he couldn't hear anything either. Curious. He gestured for her to wait, and she did so patiently, while he looked around on the floor in the room. She kept an eye on the door, with her hearing gone she wouldn't have much indication other than sight or smell if something had entered their shared space in the tiny two by three foyer. The floor was well maintained though, that suggested that people were taking care of it. That was in line with what she had heard about the place as well.
Madness was supposed to reign here. Allyria steeled herself for what was to come. She had seen true horrors on the other side, in the shadow world. If things that existed there were in this temple then it was going to be a bumpy ride.
Afraid, she clung to her scythe while she waited.
Hurry up, Jorkahn.

Realising he was getting nowhere fast, Jorkahn pulled out his two handed axe and slammed it on the floor a few times. If he was able to break off a chunk of the floor he would crush it into a few pieces with the spike on the end of the haft. If he was successful the boy would give a few pieces to Allyria and keep a few for himself. He sure hoped anything hostile couldn't hear in this place as well.
When all this was said and done the lad held up one of the pebbles and turned his back to Allyria, his eyes and head still positioned to look at her. He pointed at his ear and shook his hand in a no gesture before pretending to throw his pebble and then tapping his shoulder with the pebble. At the end of it all, he turned to her in an exaggerated manner with an exaggerated look of curiosity on his face.
The Champion of Jewels felt a little foolish after this display, but he hoped that his companion understood to use the pebbles to get his attention if she had to. To finish the warrior gave a thumbs up and indicated he was ready to proceed.

So basically she was going to have to hit him with something to get his attention? Alright, that's fine. She processed that and figured she could manage that. She returned his thumbs up with half-heartedness, and anxiety. She did not like being crippled in this manner. Being able to hear and communicate effectively with her comrades was something that she enjoyed doing now that she thought about it. Not being able to do so would have made their fight against those crow monsters that much more difficult. This was going to be very difficult. She could see now how someone could go insane from this, especially if there were horrors like the rumors said.
She mouthed a mumble to herself and went to the door, then pulled it open slowly. She didn't want to alert anyone to the sudden movement. The idea was to keep the enemy, if there was one, as unaware of their presence as possible.
Curiosity outweighed fear in tandem with the desire to complete the mission.

The HallWidth: 7 meters. Length: 14 meters. Height: 4 meters. The double door would wing open easily, not making a single sound for anyone to hear. Beyond that threshold was a large hall meant for gathering and traversing to different wings of the temple structure. To the west was another pair of double doors. Across from where Allyria was standing was a single, yet important looking door. It was banded in silver and gold, and had strange markings on it. To the east were two more doors close together. They were simple and wooden. The final door was in the southeastern corner of the room, several meters from the ornate door. It appeared to be made from iron, and was sturdy. In the center of the room, lingering there, was a large creature. It was bigger than a man. Allyria would see it and be able to identify it as a Ghoul. It appeared to be guarding the hall. There was nothing else of apparent consequence in the room. The Ghoul had yet to notice them. GhoulHP: 560/560 Sm: 134/134 MP: 260/260

Jorkahn peeked over his companion's shoulder as she opened the door but he would not proceed until she did. A transitory glance over the hinges as the door swung open cemented to him the fact that no noise could be heard, or possibly made, within the temple grounds. It was unnerving, to say the least. As was the sheer size of the hallway beyond. He couldn't see everything passed Allyria, but the rather ornate door gave him a bad feeling. It seemed too obvious to him for there to be anything good behind it. But what did he know? He wasn't an expert on creepy temples in the middle of nowhere.
The ghoul in the middle of the hall nearly made him jump. It hadn't seemed to notice them yet and, in fact, he nearly glanced over it himself. The champion looked over it for a while before lightly tapping Allyria on the shoulder and raising his hand to point at the creature. He watched for her reaction and gave her a look as if to ask if they should engage. If she seemed to indicate that they shouldn't, he would then point to the doors to the east and the west. Once again the boy had an inquisitive look adorning his rather feminine face.
The young warrior would wait for the Countess to respond. He did not trust his experience and abilities to lead them down the right path. So was the cause for his deferment to her.

Ah, a Ghoul. I don't think I can drop this beast with one attack. These creatures are adept at striking, releasing a flurry of attacks at their enemies. They're also quite fast and capable of chasing down their prey with no mercy. As far as undead warriors go, they're the toughest I've encountered. If it spots us, we'll have no choice but to fight it. Destroying it would be preferable though.
Once she was done thinking through what she was seeing, she tapped Jorkahn on the shoulder and started to gesture. First to split up and go on opposite sides of the creature, still behind it. Both of them had weapons good for sweeping attacks. She gestured to convey such, and that the legs should be the target. Once it was disabled, it'd be that much easier to destroy it. Attacking the vital areas could go poorly, especially if neither of them got a killing blow on the first hit. But if they both attacked to disable it, and then followed up with blows to a downed enemy in vital areas, then it was more likely, in her mind, to kill it before it got a chance to hurt them.
Once the message was relayed, and provided Jorkahn agreed, Allyria would attempt to cross the room behind the creature, so that she could position herself behind and on the far side. That way Jorkahn would have the shorter distance to go, and his handedness wouldn't get in the way of executing a good attack. She'd strike when he was ready, and provided the first one went smoothly and took the leg out from under the beast, she'd follow up with three strikes at its head.

The boy nodded to indicate that he was paying attention to the Countesses' gestures. When they were concluded he nodded once more to let her know that he understood. The moment she began to move so did he, being certain not to get too far behind. On the brisk run over, he swallowed the lump in his throat, wound up for an attack, and once he was in position, hacked hard once at the creature's ankles. His body was full of energy, his arms and legs feeling lighter than normal. The second swing he put a lot more strength behind and attempted to follow through into the Ghoul's knees. Hopefully, the first two hacks would bring it down, if not the kneecapping and the increased force on the third strike surely would, right?
This wasn't the time to miss, Jorkahn.

The first attack missed, but the second attack took the creature's leg out from under it. The final follow up attack split the creature's skull in half. It's blackish green blood oozed onto the ground. It twitched without a sound. The battle seemed to be over before it even began. Apparently, it was the time to miss seeing as Allyria didn't really need his help after all. The ghoul lay before them in a pool of its own blood and cranial tissue. Jorkahn made a mental note never to piss the half-drokagr off. Otherwise, he may end up like the ghoul beneath him. Pushing the image of his mangled corpse to the back of his mind the boy gave a quick look around before leaning down to pick up the spoils. A few bones and a meagre pile of ritz. Jorkahn sighed silently and then held out both the bones and the coins to his partner. She could take what she wanted, he would keep the rest. Even if the rest was nothing.
After everything was distributed the young warrior held his hands up and passed them across the room. He was indicating the different doors scattered amongst the halls. He purposefully didn't look at the ornate door. Something about it creeped him out. It was simply too obvious for there to be anything good behind it. Or maybe the lad was just overthinking things? The sturdy door gave him a bad feeling, too. Was it made to keep something out? Or maybe keep it inside? Regardless, he would wait for Allyria, being certain to keep an eye on their surroundings as best he could. He was getting a little antsy.

Allyria collected the bones that were easily gathered from the corpse of the Ghoul. It was grueling work. She had to carve the flesh from some of the bones with her improved arming sword. Once she had done so she stuffed them into her bag and gave a look to Jorkahn that tried to convey that she was going to use them for study later. One could never know enough about their enemies after all. Their weaknesses, their strengths, their favorite socks, their hopes and dreams. All to improve one's ability to shatter one's foes.
The study would have to wait. Jorkahn indicated each door in the room with his finger. She shook her head to the iron door and the golden door as well. Something didn't seem right about those two. If this was just a place of worship, why would there be a second door made of metal? To keep something out she supposed. The ghoul was evidence that there was a desire to keep intruders at bay. The golden door was probably leading towards the main temple. She did not want to tangle with that area if she did not have to. Her gut told her that the overly religious were dangerous.
In response to his query she pointed to the wooden doors and gave an affirmative hand signal. She was fine with proceeding through any of those before assailing the main temple area and the iron door.
