Allyria would have warned Jair if it was possible to do so. She didn't have the time. Hopefully he was paying attention to her. She moved in with her scythe raised, looking to engage the brawler before he could attack her. She knew its weapons were strong enough to cut through some of her armor, and she wasn't looking forward to doing any more stitching work. As she closed the distance she slashed twice with her scythe, unleashing a terrifying gale of wind with each attack which ripped through the air with enough force to cut a man from groin to neck. She was also actively searching the next few moments of the future for what the brawler would be doing next, to avoid a mortal blow on its part.

Jorkahn sighed silently and shoved the instruments into his pack. He tried not to break them, but considering there were brawlers charging them he didn't want to wait too long. When everything was said and done, or an enemy had broken through, he would run over to Allyria and intercept any enemies that would come their way. The warrior took a defensive stance and prepared for an attack.

Allyria's first attack struck true, and the head of the cultist bounced off the stone walls, diving through smoke and hit the floor with what should have been a wet crunch. The sound would be forever lost. The man's weapons clattered to the ground as his body jerked twice and his spirit shed its mortal coil. Blood splattered the ceiling from the arterial spurt before the body hit the floor, pooling in a heap of flesh. The aftershock from the scythe's assault had gibbed the man, leaving a pile of indistinguishable flesh on the floor, a pair of legs, and a splattering of blood all around it. Scarlet would be coated with the stuff. The corridor ahead was silent still, despite the raging fire behind the heroes. Allyria was satisfied with the way the cultist went down before her. She still had so many questions. Why were they in the temple in the first place? What was so special about this location? Why were there so many followers? And these were just a few of the questions that came to mind in the moment after slaughtering the brawler. She looked forward and spotted the shadows dancing along the walls in the room ahead. The common room area they had cleared out previously. Perhaps blowing open the door into the office had been a bad plan. It seemed the enemy was alerted. If that was not evidenced by the one brawler that came to attack them, it would be by whatever foes lay ahead and their state of readiness.
She felt like she was heading into quite the battle. Perhaps fate would drive her towards destroying this cult entirely. It depended on how the rest of this terrible structure treated her. The fire raged behind, the only way to go now was forward.

Jorkahn had rushed forward to defend Allyria from any would-be attackers only to be splashed with gore from behind. It left him feeling rather silly. No one had come to challenge him and he had entered a state of extreme focus for nothing. Well, better for nothing to have happened than to have reacted too late. The Champion brushed some of the gore off his back with a gauntleted hand. He looked behind him at Allyria and nodded before turning back around to move forward. The fire blocked their path from behind. All he hoped was they would consume their enemies before the fire consumed them.

As the pair pressed forward into the smoke filled halls, they'd find three more brawlers ready for them in the common room they had visited twice before. With these men already prepared, and amping each other up, it seemed like the battle would be different than times before. Their muscles bulged, and their veins pumped madly. They were stronger and faster than they had been moments ago, and their devotion to their dark god was only making them even more so.
The three monstrous men rushed forwards looking to end their foes before their lives would be ended. If they could shout, it would be blood curdling screams of war.

Allyria saw what was happening. The enemies were pushing forward, trying to surround the doorway to the common room before she and her companion could get out. Their numbers would be more powerful in that instant. If she could lure them into the hallway somehow... no. That wouldn't work. She could see that they were getting stronger by the moment. The only option was to attack them now. Spring the trap. Hope she didn't get cut down. She moved in to attack with her blade, hoping to push the one in the middle through into the room so Jorkahn could come through and finish the enemy off.
Hope was strong with her. She had a deep reserve of hope. She clung to it because it had gotten her quite far. She hoped life would be better away from her father. She hoped things would get easier as her powers grew. And so they had, in some ways. In others, they had only grown more complex. So she hoped that she could continue to find solutions.
The solution to the cultist problem was through. Each and every single one of them.

The warrior took just a bit longer to react to the threat than his partner did. After she began moving forward Jorkahn focused his powers on his arms and legs. Immediately after Allyria's flurry of blows The Champion would bring his axe down to hopefully land one of his own. Whether or not this threat was dealt with the lad would push forward and, flipping the weapon over in his hand, would bring the blade up from the ground to just below another Brawler's chin. This didn't leave him much room to defend himself, but if they could take out two enemies immediately, perhaps the third would be easier to kill without taking too much damage.

Allyria's dash and first attack on the middle brawler was a successful ploy. She slashed the neck open of the enemy warrior with ease. Her scythe's blade was now bathed in the blood of her enemies, which continued to spurt from the wound until the man died. The sorceress's second swing was aimed low, disabling the second warrior as she passed him by and proceeded into the common room. There she'd find herself in a room that was otherwise empty. Jorkahn's first blow was a lucky catch, chopping the enemy warrior in the neck, killing him much in the same manner that Allyria killed her first quarry. While the other fighter was disabled, Jorkahn's deadly charged cleave ripped the man nearly in two, from groin to head. Sort of like peeling a banana, not that either had ever seen a banana. Viscera and blood splattered the ground. A stench wafted high. And that was all there was to be said about those cultists.

Allyria didn't see much reason to police the bodies of these fighters. Afterall, they were just sword fodder. Their type seemed to be ubiquitous throughout the temple. In fact, it was strange how many of these people there were, and that there were no scholars or theologians devoted to whatever god they served and to which this temple was dedicated. For a second she stood there baffled and decided to examine one of the charms she had taken off a body.
She had never seen its like before.
Something to look into when I'm back in Telle'Korasus.
When Jorkahn was done doing whatever it was that he'd be doing during this period Allyria would sign to him it was time to move on, and that he should proceed through the next doorway first. She wanted to go back out into the main chamber and see what has changed there since she blew a hole in the south end of the building.

The warrior was already drenched, what was another shower of blood and bodily fluids? It was the smell from the second man's entrails that caused his nose to turn. Jorkahn's face scrunched up and he physically turned his head away. He had never cut a man in two before. The action was met with a feeling of both disgust and a morbid satisfaction. He gave the bodies a quick once over and, likely finding nothing of interest, looked back towards Allyria. She motioned for him to move forward, so he did so.
He kept his weapon at the ready, his eyes never lingering in one spot for too long, and walked through the doorway. He once again wondered what these cultists were doing here and what purpose this temple served. The Champion found himself wondering if Tyr would find this place interesting. He imagined the occupants wouldn't put up much of a fight for such a large man.

Hall
Jorkahn would find the main hall as empty as it was before. Only the cell doors were still open, and the ornate door that had been directly across from them when they had first entered was now open. In the far right corner was the locked door, it was still shut, though there seemed to be an ominous energy coming out from the jambs.

Allyria followed Jorkahn into the main hall. Surprise came across her face for a moment. There was no one to be found there. She pointed to the open ornate door that led to what was likely the altar where these monsters worshiped whatever dark god. A morbid curiosity overcame her, she wanted to investigate. Learning about her enemies would help her defeat them, or so she thought.
She felt nothing in particular emanating from any particular direction. Other than the persistent curse of silence over the building that is. Perhaps it was so powerful it was scrambling her senses?

Jorkahn looked around a bit before Allyria entered behind him. He noticed what she did at around the same time. How had the door opened? Had something come through?
Perception for magic. Power 35 UQWf7aw9 4 Success!
The fledgling mage's ears perked and he spun around to look at the locked door. The feeling emanating from the barrier made him feel sick. His face betrayed as much. When Allyria pointed at the open ornate door he held up his hand and attempted to direct her attention to the locked one. He showed her a flame in his hand to indicate magic and then pointed where he was looking, shaking his head. Could that be the origin of the curse of silence? Or was something much more sinister locked behind?
The Champion of Jewels looked back at Allyria as if to ask for their next plan of action.

Ah... I see. He senses something from behind that door.
She looked over to the door, away from the room with the altar. The door was made from iron. It was most likely locked. They could check it out for a few minutes, and then return to the room with the altar and continue the investigation. She walked over to the iron door and looked it over. It was flush with the stone of the building. She was hoping Jorkahn would be watching her back while she investigated.

Nothing stood out to her about it. The lock looked ordinary, the door looked ordinary. But Jorkahn had sensed magic behind it. There was always force, one should try force before attempting magic. Especially in a place like this, where the door might be magically trapped.
