On leaving Morith Kreans headed west, the first leg of the journey would be several days travel simply to reach the edge of the Orthern river. From there it should be quite simple to follow it up but he had to make it there first of all, he'd packed everything away, buried his fire pit and any signs of his presence before leaving and starting on his journey. It was quite a distance to travel but he hoped that the ability of the human he sought would be worth it, something inside him rankled at the idea of having to be taught by a human but he was known amongst the lesser races as the greatest of craftsman on this continent. Apparently also he was known for friendship to Skaldi if the rumours were to be believed, he treated those he saw well unlike the majority of the humans and half breeds he had met thus far. Part of it was a hunger for waht he could learn and another was curiosity at what kind of man he would find at the other end.
For now however he was simply stuck walking through the plains, there were no other travellers to be seen and the few animals there were would flee as soon as they detected him, Kreans would power on however he needed to make the best time that he possibly could each day in order to minimise the journey. He would walk right up until darkness began to fall, only then giving in to his eyesight, unsuited to such levels of darkness, at which point he would gather up what wood he could and start a fire to keep him warm in the night.

Night passed with no troubles, nothing caused him any harm or trouble, and when the Skaldi rose the fire lay in embers, it had done it's job now. Kreans dug out an area of ground and buried the ashes of his fire, returning the ground to the more natural state that it had been in before he'd gotten here as was right to do. After a quick breakfast consisting of some of his rapidly dwindling water supply and a few chunks of tough meat he was off once again, there was nothing to be gained from laying about and everything to be gained from walking after all.
Once again he purposefully strode through the plains, eyes on the distant sliver of green that were hopefully the forests if he was headed in the right direction, it was impossible for him to see from here but from what he had heard he'd meet the river around about those forests somewhere and he could then continue on for a while simply by following it. Still getting to the tree line and the river itself would be a journey of far more days, the Skaldi could still see Morith behind him in all of it's damaged, ramshackle glory and was somewhat glad to be moving away from the city and the cloud of death that it contained.

After several more days travel he reached the edge of the forest, the river coming snaking out of it and north towards Sorath. Luckily he wasn't going this way, the SKC still had a tight grip on Sorath from what he'd heard and his arrival would likely be met with bared blade. Instead he made his way across the river and kept the forest to his left, headed up towards where another branch of the Orthern should be found, it was quite easy to see and only a day or so's walk from where he stood now. Before heading out towards the correct branch he stooped and filled his waterskin, he'd been running low up till now and was glad to be able to drink deep, doing so before refilling the skin and carrying on his way.
It was dark by the time he reached the river, Kreans set his pack down and gathered up what wood he could from the edge of the woods and piling it up by his belongings. In very little time he had a sizeable pile in close enough proximity to the water that he could drink with ease should he need. Once again he refilled his skin before attempting to make himself a fire again, more for the comfort and heat that it provided than for any idea of scaring off whatever animals would be foolish enough to attempt to take on a fully grown Saurian.

The wood was so dry that it was almost as though the fire lit itself, Kreans built it up to a roaring inferno that would last the night before taking out the ruined leathers that served as his mat and wrapping himself up in his cloak, this way of travelling with the cloak was a complete luxury.

It was several days after camping at the river that he finally reached the Western Lake, the largest body of water that Kreans had ever seen that wasn't swampy and full of things that were going to try their best to eat you. It would take him several days to work himself from it's southern point where he currently stood up to the north of it and somewhat closer to his goal, but he figured that walking around the body of water could be no worse than across empty plains, it was something new for him to look at at least. If he got bored he could look at the plains still to the other side of him, and look he did considering he was entering into more worked land and had to be ready should anyone take issue with him being there.
Luckily there was no one in sight by the time he bedded down for the night, he'd seen no one all day and so had no troubles to speak of other than his somewhat aching claws of his feet. Pampered he was not but the two weeks of continuous walking that he'd done so far was starting to take it's toll on his feet, maybe a set of shoes like those that the other races wore would be a good idea to alleviate it, some cushioning for long walks such as these to prevent his legs from becoming unbearably sore. Would wearing such a thing be a sign of weakness however? Most likely, and so he resolved not to give in to his pains right now and face them as he should.
Night fell and in typical fashion he began to create a fire, he was in one of the areas owned by one of the humans but had no desire to meet them, in fact with any luck he'd pass by without them noticing. Kreans stopped positioning the sticks for a fire, a cold camp tonight would be better, fire was visible for a long distance in such darkness and he didn't want to be noticed.

Once the lake was past him it was a straight shot north he'd been told, there was little between him and the Mardok border, although he had no idea how he'd be aware when he'd passed it. Mardok was a completely new place to the Skaldi, he'd never properly been into one of the duchies such as this, only those with major cities such as Morith or Innorsford. Another worry was the fact that he might find something here other than what he expected, if the information was false and in fact Mardok treated Skaldi as the rest of the north did then he was walking into quite the bit of trouble. It was a concern for when he reached his destination anyway, and ifit did prove to be true then his spear would see much blood before he left Mardok.
The Skaldi was on the final leg of his long journey, it had been far longer in the undertaking even than he had thought but hopefully it would be worth it, if not then it would still be worth it in that he hadn't had a good fight for quite some time. For now however he gathered what wood he could and made himself a fire, it increased his visibility for sure but he needed to feel heat on his scales and have some comfort falling asleep. Kreans was sure that if anything were to try and sneak up on him in the night he would know of their presence and be able to catch them before they did him.

Fire flickered into existance at the rough area he'd cleared for it, Kreans gently fed it until it provided enough warm for him to be comfortable. Tonight he would keep it small however hidden among the long grasses hopefully to lessen the chances of him being seen, it had been some time since he'd had a fire.··
