Kreans sighed, although it came out as something more like a growl and caused those thin reedy fellows around him to back away, not a one of them seemed very impressive all were thin and looked to have very little muscle on their frames. These men were not warriors, these men were clearly alchemists or assuming from the fact that they were here trainees in alchemy, they didn't have the muscle to work wood, stone metal or bone so it was a reasonable assumption on his part he thought. Still, the humans were somewhat pathetic, their craftsman looked like they'd be blown over in a strong breeze, at the least he assumed their skills would make up for their obvious lack of any sort of physical stature.
For him, this alchemy training was another exercise in self control, the tiny glass flasks that they worked with would smash if held to tightly or drop out of his hands if held to loosely. Each flask looked tiny in his hands but still he had to use them, Kreans resolved that were he to have to use this knowledge again in his life he would have to make himself some flasks far more suited to his size and strength so that he could focus solely on the creation rather than having to watch his strength at all times. On the bright side at least his strength made grinding up the various herbs quite simple, he would just place them in the mortar and pestle and grind them to dust or pulp as quickly as he could so that he could spend extra time working on the more fiddly bits without breaking any of the equipment and risking having to start again.

Herbalism was first and he was told was apparently far easier than actual alchemy, the ingredients were cheaper and easier to find and the process of discerning their properties as well as grinding them up for use was far easier to complete. It seemed that a lot of the herbs that would be required for him to begin making some potions were quite easy to find, others however were apparently far rarer and would take him quite some time to amass any sort of supply of. Basic health potions and those to increase energy seemed simple enough, a few ingredients broken down and mixed together then bottled in a flask for later, they were only allowed to make such simple potions for now to avoid one of them inadvertently making a deadly poison and causing trouble, that suited Kreans just fine.
For the most part the lesson was about looking at drawings of the various herbal ingredients that one might find around Cruinthe between it's towns and cities, a lot of them Kreans thought looked at least somewhat familiar given his having spent most of his life outside and mobile. Those that did not look familiar he mentally catalogued for later, there was no harm in him remembering all that he was learning of the various herbs that he might find and maybe if he got the time and the equipment at a later date attempting to use his knowledge. Healing potions and restoratives would be much prized, there weren't many in circulation within the Alliance from what he'd been told and so if he could make them then it could increase the Shadowscales position in the alliance, or at the very least give him some coin to buy other materials with for his work. It would be amusing to see the Skaldi's position enhanced by something that the humans had taught him, some strength they'd given him that would make his position stronger and increase his own capabilities to more than they were.

Actual alchemy he was told was far different to the useage of herbs, the ingredients were far harder to come across and usually were parts of the various creatures that roamed across the land, some of the creatures mentionned were strong enough that Kreans would question whether fighting and killing them simply for the materials that their body possessed was worth the cost it would likely inflict. It took him only a moment to correct himself, of course it was, if you were able to fight and kill something then gaining the materials was no problem, if you weren't then you simply weren't strong enough to begin with and it was your lot to have less. Strength is all and if you don't have the strength to take what you want then you don't deserve to have it, he prided himself as a warrior capable of fighting multiple foes and more often than not coming out the other end fine, but he knew that as he was currently any of the more fearsome creatures he'd been shown could kill him as easily as he would a Salamander. He needed more strength, and if the alchemical mixtures he was learning about would give him more strength then he was happy to learn about them, the problem remained however that he couldn't have much practise without ingredients and they weren't easy to come by.
It was a concern for the future however, for now he just needed to commit to memory as much of the human's speaking and try to remember the effects of each ingredient as well as how exactly to go about using the ingredients assuming he ever got the desire to try and managed to procure some of the necessary materials to do so. For now alchemy was something out of his grasp but in the future it seemed like something that could be viable with the right help or if he could become strong enough to be able to gather up it's quite rare and dangerous materials.
