"1..2..3..Lift" Shouted the half-Drokagr at the end of the large beam, her and three others together lifting the large beam up and onto their shoulders, shuffling away with it balanced their precariously towards some distant building that was in need of it. Kreans hefted up two bundles of thatch and throwing them onto the roof of a low building where they were immediately untied and distributed across the roof as the ties were thrown to the floor again. A deep, satisfied ache filled his body at the labour he was doing as he picked up armfuls of wooden planks many times the size that which a human could have brought. Saurian strength was certainly good in situations like these, it helped in situations such as these where was a lot of particularly heavy things to be lifted and not enough people to lift them.
It seemed that despite their initial wariness of him the construction crews were making use of him as well, he was being used to transport the far larger and far heavier pieces to the workers due to his natural strength, it certainly was a change from sitting in rooms or on the proving grounds looking, he was outside doing physical activity with the hopes of learning part of a trade if he did well enough to catch one of the masons or carpenters eyes. All he had to do was keep doing good work and one would eventually pick him up to learn the trade more, something like that where he could use his hands and learn to craft far more than he currently could with his somewhat unpolished skills.

It wasn't long till he distinguished himself to one of the carpenters, having carried more than any other due to his natural strength and so having caught the man's eye. It took a fair amount however to convince the human that he was more than simply another warrior and had the ability to work metal and bone at the least, showing his spear and leather armour to the man convinced him that Kreans at least had some skill in this area, although he would attribute the shoddiness of his current attire more to lack of decent resources to use than a lack of skill on his own part.
Either way, showing the craftsman convinced him that Kreans was also capable of making his own equipment, and if you could work iron then working wood was just another process to be learned, one that he fully intended to learn and add to his crafting capabilities. Luckily for him the tools used to work wood didn't feel too different to him, there were some more delicate ones for making small and intricate designs but there was no need for him to use them when they were simply building houses and shops, there were no great decorated buildings being made only basic replacements. Using a hammer and chisel was easy enough, sanding down the logs and cutting them with the different saws they had available was also quite simple so long as they were measured out properly first, in all he wasn't finding the working of wood all that hard, the basics of it weren't that difficult and the basics was all that he needed, he had no need for the fiddly smaller works as it was unlikely he'd ever actually need to use them for the kind of work that he normally did, he had the basics down and that was what mattered.

Once he found himself happy with the carpentor experience that he had gained Kreans quickly moved himself towards the masons, it was regrettable that in order to make this strength his own he had to rely on the humans working in this town but at the least he was gaining from this far more than they were from using him as physical labour to move about the large blocks of wood and stone that was required to build the various parts of the town that they needed for Innorsford to become stronger. In the town's current state it would be little effort for the Skaldi to overwhelm it in much the same way they had the town that had once been Rosterford, repay humanity one more time for the damage they inflicted and show them the true strength of the Shadowscales once again. It was unlikely to happen considering they had an alliance of sorts, but it would be possible for certain should Karvan and the elders change their mind and decide to pursue dominance and vengeance once again.
For now however he'd simply learn as he could from the mason, learning how to use the various chisels to shape stone for it's different uses in buildings. Another thing that was arguably far more useful was his learning how to lay stones in order to make a structure, fixing stone blocks into place to make structures far stronger than what could be made out of the wood that most races employed for the majority of their buildings. It was satisfying to be handling stone, it was strong enough that he didn't have to afford it the extra care that he'd been required to provide in his last lessons so he could handle it far more naturally as he would usually a piece of iron. By far he preferred masonry to carpentry, although he doubted that he would have much use for either beyond wooden hafts for weapons and a small amount of building should he be required to help in construction in New Skaldira.
