After paying the price to use the forge Thrawn walked in and took a look around. He had never been in a professional forge before, the ones in Darthak were bit more rudimentary, and focused more on maintaining older weapons and armor rather than building new ones.
Thrawn found a good spot, placed his items nearby, picked up the necessary tools and got to work. The first thing he wanted to make was a lantern, he wanted to head into the catacombs so he needed a light source. Thrawn picked up the one iron ingot he needed and placed into the forge to begin the process.
Working of his basic understanding of metals and smithing Thrawn drew out the ingot and hammered it to shape, doing his best to get decent shape for the lantern going.
It did not go so well, the ingot warped and bent in ways that were too damaged for Thrawn to salvage. He sighed and discarded the ingot, his lack of experience with metalworking was obvious, but he would not give up so soon. He still had another ingot and he tried it again.
Somehow it was worse than the first time, Thrawn had no idea what he was doing. With both ingots destroyed beyond repair, Thrawn felt like a fool.
The Darthaki looked at the two pieces of leather that he had, rather than give in to despair he thought he might try his hands and leather work. He had wanted to get a belt anyways.
Thrawn moved to the tanning station and got to work trying once again to craft something, he cursed he clumsy warrior hands but tried his best to make something that did not fall apart.
But it did. He thought he had it, but something just did not click, he cursed his fate. At the end of his wits and his resources Thrawn grabbed the last bit of leather he had and tried again. And again it did not click, he almost had it too but it was just not Thrawn's day. He left the forge empty handed and frustrated.
