Her transition through the portal is harsh. It is like she is caught between two mountains going in opposite directions. One made of fire, burning her to ash. The other made of ice, freezing her solid. She comes through the portal just the same.
As she passes through she finds that she is still in the cage, though it is turned upside down, and the iron bars are open, as if it were a clawed hand with her in its palm. The chains are stiff in an unnatural way. The wind swirls around her in all directions, as if it were a shaken up liquid in a container. Columns of smoke rose from the city below, and from the land in general, fire burned with no fuel. Some things just combust for no reason. Other fires snuff themselves. The whole vastness of the city was crawling with black shapes. Shades of every type and size occupied the city's every inch. A great shade army. An army of darkness. Rocks and bits of land floated in the sky, great scars on the earth were visible from her vantage point, high above the city. As she would look out and discover more, she'd come to the conclusion that there was something very wrong with this place. There was no sunlight, only an eternal dusk.
There was a screeching noise from the tower the cage had been dangling from. The sound was loud enough to shake the foundations of the fortress. Wrapped around the great fortress of Helkorth was a giant beast, a great wyrm. A devourer of shades and everything else. It was colossal, like some kind of god. The head of the wyrm rested atop the tower, it's body was wrapped around the tower lay about in a great coil until the rest of it disappeared underground.

The Devourer of Shades
--Garlgalure--
A Mythical Beast, this creature is known to be the devourer of the ghost like shades of the Spectral Realm. It spans a great distance. Each of its many heads reaches into the spectral realm from beyond to devour shades where they congregate in great number. Killing one head does not kill the beast, only stuns it until it may be regrown.
