Time: During Twilight. 20 minutes before Nightfall
Redgar and Mina were in the Serpent's Head Inn because it was the best in town and they weren't sure who the provincial governor was, and whether or not they knew him. Much less if they'd let them be their guests. They had only come to Sorath to buy horses anyway. It had been a ten day journey. It sucked. Trudging along the highways on foot was the worst, and Mina was a terrible traveling companion. If she wasn't whining she was trying to make Redgar miserable in another way. Not that he didn't deserve it. The whole family deserved each other, in the way that only terrible people deserve to be near each other, leaving the rest of humanity alone.
They had a table, with a table cloth, and they had just ordered their meals, two chowder chow downs. They were staying in two separate rooms. Their horses were already stabled, all four of them. Mina had ordered a bottle of the Vortalcino Black, and Redgar was enjoying a bottle of the Vortalcino Red. They had been sitting there, starting their bottles at the beginning of twilight.
"And he says... he says... listen. He says to me 'You better think this through real good boy.' And ha ha.. ha and I go 'I did' and that's when I cut his fuckin' head off."
"Indeed. I know. I was there."
"Say.. what did you do throughout the rebellion?"
"Mmm. Not really your concern, Redgar. But Kaldran's going to need a skilled healer if he survived."
"His betrayal was most foul."
"Indeed. I made him suffer for it."
"He's next. I'll fucking kill him next."
