Ruined Castles, Temples, and other Structures
The Navarre Wall -- Once a wall that spanned the entire country from east to west, dividing the north and the south, the wall now lies in ruins. Much of it is buried. While those structures of it that do remain above ground are few, even those are nothing but dilapidated ruins. The Navarre wall was a symbol of Cruinthe's commitment to self-defense during a war long since forgotten. A great multitude of forts were built along it, each of them small yet easily defensible, and within ten or fifteen miles of each other. These forts are also in ruins.
Old Fordeth -- The current Fordeth was built on top of Old Fordeth. What remains of the city are aging fortifications and structures, tunnels, and warrens, as well as waterways. Most of Old Fordeth is underground, covered completely by earth. There are few entrances.
The Duchies -- Each of the duchies in the north contains at least one ruined and destroy castle in various states of disrepair. Some of the ruins are small and hardly noticeable. Others are large burned out husks of former castles, with no interiors, just their massive stone walls.
The Hillsfar Ruin -- The Hillsfar ruin is about a mile northwest of the town. The ruin is situated on top of a hill and appears to be an old castle with its outer curtain wall intact. The state of the interior is unknown. It is considered a cursed location by the locals, and they do not go near it, and never advise the adventurous types to do so. They will often speak of it however, as it is the center of over a hundred local folktales.
The Viktoria Ruin -- The Viktoria ruin is about a mile north of the city. This ruin is situated on the banks of the river next to it. It appears to be an old castle based on the layout. However, there is not much left of it. Only a few walls and some husks of towers remain standing.
The Mallon Forest Ruin -- This is a small set of pillars and a stone staircase that is near the center of Mallon forest. It is said to be an old temple, but the solid doors with magical markings on them bar the path. Not even the strongest Skaldi can push the doors open.
The Long Road -- This is located in the eastern Darthaks and consists of a cut canyon from the interior of Cruinthe to the other side of the eastern mountain range where it comes to a bit of land called 'The Mound' which is essentially a hill that comes out of the ocean, irregular to the rest of the coast, which is rocky and jagged. The long road is lined with great stone statues cut into the walls of the canyon, towering over a hundred meters high. Each statue has a skeleton-like face or masked face. Nothing grows there. People do not venture through The Long Road to reach the ocean, despite the ruined city on the mound. Some people say that is where the first humans landed on the continent. Others disagree and say the road was clearly cut by magic at a much later date. For the Elkagr it is a forbidden place, it terrifies them on a primal level.
The Tower Rock -- Tower rock is located in Western Skaraptica. It is the site of a tower that supposedly once reached far into the skies. Now no more than a few stones settled atop a difficult rock to climb.
The Crystalline Fortress -- Also known as The Last Bastion If one could call the war between mankind and the Empire of the High Born still raging, this is the frontline. The Crystalline Fortress is the only unconquered human castle in all of Cruinthe. It is intact, but practically impossible to get to. One must climb the sheer face of ice that makes up the foundation of the fortress to reach the actual walls of the castle. There is no curtain wall, as it needs none. The thousand foot plummet, sheer ice, and deadly cold of the Darthaks ensures all but the strongest never reach it. However, a simple climb is not enough, as there are no windows for one to climb through, and the surface of the walls of the fortress is reminiscent of metal. Those Elkagr warriors that made it back from The Last Bastion of Mankind reported that the fortress would kill any man that tried to defend it.
