Ok so maybe he'd lied to himself slightly, Ulfric thought to himself as he wandered through the forest, his stomach grumbling as he thought of the food that he had eaten. The supplies he had taken hadn't been enough for the journey as he had hoped. He had been walking through the forest for several hours now and it almost felt as if the wildlife was taunting him.
The birds flew around above him, the rabbits and deer carried on through, oblivious to his grumbling stomach and the need for food he had that could not be sated by the simple berries and leaves that they ate. What he needed was meat, it was as he had always learnt, a man couldn't be a man if they didn't have a good healthy love of meat, or something like that. He hadn't really paid that much attention to what he'd been taught, it hadn't particularly interested him and he knew he'd probably never use it, being the forgotten bastard son doomed to never be allowed to take his place.
But who cared, he didn't, the life of no responsibility beyond that to himself was the one for him, he found it easier and much more enjoyable to live by, apart from in moments like these when he was hungry as anything and there was no food.
Just then a rabbit bounded out onto the path in front of him and he froze, looking at the rabbit and only seeing a little bundle of meat waiting to be eaten. Crouching his legs slightly he prepared himself, coiling his muscles before leaping at the small bunny, hoping to catch it before it could escape.

Unfortunately for him though he missed, the leap not quite being enough to secure himself a dinner and instead ending with him sprawled on the floor. Ulric groaned loudly in despair at the lack of food and his stomach growled with him, moving slowly out of lack of energy he got up and dusted himself off, trying to pick a new course of action.
