So it seemed that Dragonfruit was only useful for all the properties of it that he currently knew, well it wasn't to surprising as most people knew about the properties of Dragonfruit, he'd just been hoping maybe there was something he'd overlooked about it that could be useful to his research. But it seemed that he knew all there was to know about dragonfruit, not onto the next thing he'd found, he'd never seen it before and as such had no clue at all what it did, if it was useful for anything at all.
Realising that once again he'd have to reply to Ethan otherwise he'd be incredibly rude to the man he replied rather uninterestedly, "Poisons? I have no knowledge on poisons personally, it's something that i might consider learning as it does link with Alchemy and the knowledge of herblore rather well, and what do you hunt? Fox? Bear? Bandits?" He chuckled slightly at the last one, Arthurius having led the sheltered life that he had, had never actually seen a bandit. "I got into this as it was something i was good at and enjoyed, the feeling of being able to take ingredients and put them together to create something new, the suspense of not knowing whether something will work or blow up in your face, whether you make something good or bad you can always say it was made by your hands, your own recipes, your own life has gone into it." As his speech went on Arthurius expression changed to one of wonder and content at what he was talking about, he was pouring his feelings out to Ethan and would hope that he felt the same way.

Arthurius hardly seemed to pause between his two questions, not something that terribly bothered Ethan. It actually gave him a chance to avoid something that would inevitably turn awkward. Even just being one of the King's men made Ethan rarely that popular. He was not the Tyrant himself, but sometimes he sure felt like he might have just been. Though he was but a mage hunter, everyone just seemed to be tense around him. Even if they did not have a reason to fear him, the mages did yes. Regular people? No.
"I don't want to be blown up, I'm usually the careful sort. Potions were more of my wife's thing. She owned the shop, it was her dream. I just helped." He was mostly over the death of his family, little sadness held in the words as he spoke them. Ethan didn't speak of it much, but neither was his old life kept a secret. His family was the one thing he had managed the have that inexhaustible drive for. Everything else was done with a mediocre flair. He didn't need to impress others, average was fine for him. He found comfort in being just a face.
Ethan decided to open, and dissect the bits of Foxberry. Perhaps he should have listened more the educational nagging of his wife.

So it seemed as if Ethan was not as experienced as Arthurius had initially thought to be, he had been more of a helper than an actually creator as he had initially been lead to believe, although if he thought about it clearly he hadn't been led to believe anything, more he had assumed something and had stuck to that assumption.
Carefully examining the Helixan, it was ruined beyond use now, he'd have to work on not destroying his ingredients....but at least he sort of had an idea of what it did now, Helixan would act as a stimulant if combined with a proper base as well as a few other measures taken to make sure that it was usable. Of course there'd have to be a testing stage, maybe Ethan could be that tester if he stayed around long enough. If not, then he was sure that he could find someone who would gladly try and sample what he could market as a stimulant potion, something to restore the weary or something along those lines.
Arthurius turned back to Ethan, "Well i'm sure your wife must be a magnificent woman then if she owned her own shop, a good achievement to any person"
Arthurius pulled out some of the leafy samples that he'd found as well, beginning to carefully dissect parts of the leaf, whether they were special leaves or just something as basic and useless as an oak leaf, still either way it'd be nice to know the difference.

"That she was." It seemed a lifetime ago, and now he was back here. Relearning all of this all over again. How he would have been teased for not remembering these things as he should. There was little even a ghost of her could of done, well there was reincarnation. Ethan could not imagine what that could mean for him. Probably some kind of cute fluffy rodent that would come to bit him in the ass. Then beg for food. Or course he would just have to feed the cute fluffy rodent too.
His daughter? Well, he always felt she was alive with him. Kept on a pink ribbon around his wrist. Ethan's brown eyes even looked at it for a long moment.
"Watch yourself never to eat these Foxberries." Deciding to share just a little bit of wealth that he got from recognizing the berry. A paralytic berry could work well for him. Already his mind was swimming with the possibilities. He would need to find more of those berries before he left the area.
He took out the next bit of herbage that he wished to decipher what it could do for him. He took the drakehazel in his hand, and began to chop at it.

Arthurius had tried everything he could think of to try and figure out the properties of these damn leaves, they were unlike most of what he'd encountered thusfar in terms of the fact that this time he had almost no idea what tree these even came from, it was probably something stupidly simple that he just kept overlooking if he was honest with himself, but he didn't want to admit this to himself let alone to Ethan.
He turned around to the fellow herbalist, " Thanks for the advice, if you're looking for something you can eat though try looking for dragonfruit, they're highly nutritious and useful in a pinch, they can revitalise almost a dead man ready to run from an army of Vampries." Arthurius said this and attempted to make a small joke in an effort to cover up his frustration at being unable to figure out the secrets that these leaves withheld from him.
Maybe if he.....

He had heard them a while ago, the old man he was living with wanted rabbit, so Torin had set about laying snares in areas where he believed he might catch some. It was unlikely he was going to be successful as in the distance he heard their chatter over the quiet hum of the forest. Hopefully they at least wouldn't ruin his traps. Torin had been perusing Teacher's book, but at the sound of others, the cracking of twigs and the talking, he had put the book away lest it fall to prying eyes.
Torin had been trying to take a nap under a nice big tree, the hum of the forest a nice lullaby, but whoever was out there had also disrupted his nap. As much noise as they were making it was pretty clear they were inexperienced in the woods, not that torin was anymore experienced than they, but at least he was being quiet. Torin thought he may as well see what they were up to before they got caught in one of his snares.
Torin approached the source of the sound and called out, part of him silently praying they weren't mage-hunters. "Hello! What brings you to this neck of the woods?!?"

"Dragonfruit chips are my favorite." Like most Cruinthians, Ethan quite enjoyed dragonfruit. It was particularly tasty after all. It hardly surprised him that it was actually restorative as well.
Ethan started to pull out yet another herb, seeing if this one could also be identified.
Well before he was interrupted by another new comer. He atleast looked normal enough, and Ethan just looked in his direction. Blinking slowly. He was here as he traveled, and just decided to talk to another that practiced the same craft as him. "Along my travels, I stopped and ended up discussing alchemy with Arthurius here." That was a pretty good answer he thought. He was feeling pretty relaxed at this moment, so he glanced back to his work. A little more interest in what was going on there.
He went back to testing out Dremora. Letting the man speak as he wanted.

Arthurius was completely out of the world, not particularly paying attention to anything other than the leaves, they were a base, something he could add other ingredients to to actually create something. They were a godsend for definite if he could take the time to experiment with them and figure out what he could do with them fully, it'd be nice to actually get some alchemy done.
Upon the arrival of this newcomer Arthurius looked up, barely interested, so long as this other person wasn't trying to kill him he wasn't particularly bothered, it was more that he was trying to figure out if there was now a threat present or not. Staring at the newcomer and assessing him quietly he figured that there was no threat, Arthurius placed his ingredients back in his pockets and looked to Ethan. "Dragonfruit chips are good but i'm trying to work on making something more substantial if I can find the ingredients"

So the man staring at leaves was Arthurius, that left the identity of the man who addressed him a mystery. Arthurius seemed to enamoured of the leaves to even acknowledge Torin. Torin couldn't really tell what was so special about the leaves, they were everywhere, on the trees on the ground. They might make decent tinder for a fire, but beyond that they were more of a nuisance than anything else. The way Arthurius stared at them made even Torin curious as to whether there was something special about them.
Alchemy was a subject completely unfamiliar to Torin, it was a discussion he couldn't really join. At the mention of dragonfruit chips, Torin still drew a blank as it was a food he had never encountered. Teacher was many things, but a decent cook was not one of them. They had lived on stew, bread, and honey most of the time. Occasionally Teacher would go out for a day or two and return with something a bit more tasty, but it was never anything he had prepared, and it was never these dragonfruit chips they were praising.
"So he's Arthurius, I'm Francis. Who are you? and what are dragonfruit chips?"
The name he offered was a lie, but it was a simple enough lie, a fake name. There was really no reason for the men to question the name he offered, and he said it with enough ease that there was little in his action or voice that would give the lie away.

Ethan gave Torin a funny look. Was this man a complete hermit?
"I'm Ethan, and dragonfruit chips are amazing. Like the fruit, but crunchier."
It was a simple answer, with the last answer not being so much of an answer. Sure he hand dragon fruit that he could attempt to make chips from, but that would first require making a fire. In which that, he did not feel terribly comfortable in preforming. Not while being watched by two other men, like most he didn't enjoy failure.
"What brings you into these woods?" Perhaps he was another man interested in plants as well, or another seeking something out. It was a good question after all, since Francis had also asked that question. It was somewhat polite.

Arthurius just stood to the side whilst this conversation was being had, he was quite content with his work so far, he stood carefully and peeked out of the trees, noting the position of the sun and realising that he'd got rather a lot of work done considering how long he'd been out here. It was good that he'd found some more ingredients as well as discovering some very useful properties from these found ingredients, very useful indeed.
"Dragonfruit chips are a snack, they are good in a pinch or if you don't have room to carry around the whole fruit, minor restorative values and are a basic ingredient for some forms of alchemy or herbalism." Arthurius expanded on Ethan's explanation, finding it insufficient and feeling like he should make it better.
