As the militiamen behind him built their barricade and took their much earned rest, Tyr would lead the small party towards the city center. It was pretty easy to find, what with the tower looming overhead in the distance, but the smoke rising from every corner of the city concerned him at the same time. Maybe they should detour towards one of the burning sections and see what good they could do there? Not that it was likely to be much, Tyr had no way of putting out street fires on his own. Organizing people would only be helpful if there wasn't a battle raging at the same time. Maybe Mina could manage something there...? He mentally shrugged, not really wanted to explore the answer to that right now. Their path would continue to be a direct walk towards the tower, hopefully avoiding any skirmishes on the way.
"It may be tricky to find him then. There seem to be small battles everywhere around the city." He tossed the words behind him casually, but with enough volume to be heard over the far off din of battle. "The tower remains our best bet then. Someone may know what direction he went in, if we cannot spy him ourselves from a decent vantage point." Even then, if he seemed to have his own skirmish in hand mayhaps the Duke Mardok would be better utilized elsewhere? His ability to shake the earth seemed pretty good at decimating enemy companies, if he could go around freeing up the other gates to fight then the Kingdom troops would be routed in short order.
Tyr: SM: 1520/1620. Kilinger: SM 42/106 Walking towards the tower. Will engage if engaged.

The pain of her small injury was almost a blessing, as it reminded Rithaleya her highest priority was to get out of this accidental encounter alive. She'd almost tried to disengage from her last opponent to process the horror of what she was experiencing. Instead, only her axe she let falter, and with her sword hand she lunged forward to thrust and slash at the last soldier still fighting her. If this was truly the last one, perhaps soon she could ride away to regather her thoughts...

Something small happened then that would change things forever for Merrake and Fyrra. It's an involuntary thing, a thing that can express a wide variety of emotions and thoughts depending on a variety of factors. A smile happened. It was a small smile, really just a hint of a smile. Some skin pulling away from the mouth to create a small opening over the teeth just on one side. It was self-satisfied and righteous. It was a secret smile that Fyrra gave herself that wasn't actually a secret.
Merrake was watching her. Merrake had been watching her.
It occurred to the bodyguard that before this battle the only danger Fyrra had come across was personal danger to herself and those immediately around her. Now her charge was in a real battle, and untold horror that came along with it was soaking the city. The gutters were filled with the blood of the dead for Azuloth's sake.
Fyrra was losing her mind a bit in battle, becoming who she needed to be to survive. Merrake could see that now. It was insane, it was scary, it was understandable. Merrake thought about how best to handle this. Being concerned about her charge was something she could do. She was out of range with her bow, and had no magic to assist with.
"How are your wellspring reserves?"
"Fine for now. I can keep this up for a few more minutes. Perhaps they'll be so demoralized they won't return here."
"I see, so that's your plan."
"Yes. To get them to stop."

"Five more of you, eh? When are you going to quit? Bring your master out here! I want to face him! You can't finish me! You can't even catch me, dogs! BAALRUNG! ATTACK!"
The Direwolf snarled at the infantry that had moved in to take their comrades places. It lunged at the nearest man, ready to bite down and shake him to death like a dog does to a small woodland creature. Redgar swung wide swaths with his halberd, looking to sever heads from bodies. The ground around him was already littered with corpses yet his desire for bloodshed had not been assuaged. He wanted to kill more. He wanted to bring ruin to these fools that dared to fight him.

"Katrina may know. But she is not pleasant."
Mina said as a point of fact. She allowed herself to continue on Cardag's back, despite the fact that both the Mardoks were walking on foot. That was for the best though, perhaps. She was the one that would be able to best spot an enemy mage from her vantage point. She needed to maintain line of sight for her flame spell to work.

After she got her spell off the shade fell into a heap at her feet. Smote upon the tower, a stain to forever mark her victory here. She screamed, the pain from its previous claw swipes coming through finally as the adrenaline started to drop in her system. She was bleeding from the wound, a problem she could fix herself. But first, she needed to return to the real world. The material world. Not this plane of ghosts and death.
"Fuck you, you shade. Fuck you. And all your kind."
A pained growl turned into laughter as she started to come down from the battle high. She strapped her scythe to her back and pulled out the flute from her cloak. Holding it in one hand, and the Mercurial Lampe in the other, she started to focus on shifting from the spectral realm into the material realm. She couldn't focus well enough though. The pain of the wound was too much to bear for the moment. She focused on healing herself a tad, then tried again. She disappeared from the spectral realm in that moment, winking away to the Material.
She slid between realms, like caught between two giant waves colliding, one made from magma, the other from ice.

The Champion of Jewels had calmed down considerably since his last battle, no longer a crazed look adorning his face. He had returned to normal, just as it always happened. It left him mentally exhausted and a bit scared when he found himself again. Killing was something he was good at but had never enjoyed until recently. It was something he didn't want to enjoy. As he sped through the city Jorkahn heard fighting in front of him. When those involved came into view the Ritgr was just in time to see a familiar face take a wound to the hand. The warrior rushed in with his horse before realizing Rithaleya seemed to be handling herself just fine. Regardless, he would help her just in case. The man and his horse came to stop just behind the soldier the other half-elkagr was engaging and attempted to stick the pointed end of his axe into the back of the man's neck, just under the base of his skull.
When the man was finally dead Jorkahn would address the ranger before him. "La-. Rithaleya. The tower to the southeast is safe and has water and rations. If you wish to come with me to the northwest get on your horse." He didn't say much else, already knowing the woman he was talking to was very no-nonsense. He turned his horse to the Northwest and was about to take off before pulling out the extra water skin he took and offering it to Rithaleya. If she took it he would leave with a nod, if she didn't he would leave anyway.
When Jorkahn was finally on his way he would head towards the 75th division, engaging enemies that would give chase to Rithaleya whether she followed him or not. [hr} Jorkahn Wealddir. Str: 35 Vit: 35 Agi: 35 Ch: 35 ST: 35 T: 35 D: 35 EN: 35 P: 35 K: 35 || HP: 700 SM: 221/245 MP: 468/473

Kell reached the back of the militia lines still in good order, breathing slightly heavier than normal from the run, peering out across the melee it was quite clear that the militia were losing more than the SKC men were. It was only logical after all, they were trying to defend a town from a trained army with only it's residential militia, they were going to lose out in a straight fight.
That was where he was hoping to change things, Jorkahn was around somewhere, although he'd gone in a different direction he was presumably still somewhere in the battlefield. He seemed capable of holding his own for sure, if there were even a few more people like him somewhere on the battlefield then they could at least even things out surely, for now he just had to put his own efforts into removing as many of the opposition as was possible and preventing as many deaths of the militia as he could.
Kell gripped his warhammer tightly in both hands and waded through the militia line, standing at the forefront of it where the beginning of the solid SKC lines began and swinging his hammer, forming a first line that the footmen in this area would have to crash against before they could reach the militia directly behind him. After the first swing of his hammer Kell reached up one arm and released his wellspring energy into five seperate balls around his head, each flying off at a different footman around him.

King Redgar Karligar -Encountered enemies: 76th Battalion-2 Infantry (8 dead) Between Baalrung and Redgar's sweeping halberd attacks three infantry fell. Their bodies joined the piles around the Duke and his mount. Shouting was heard, and soon it became discernible that it was a name. Someone was approaching. A new challenger. "EDGAR! EDGAR! EDGAR! EDGAR!" Jorkahn Wealddir -Encountered Enemies: 70th Battalion-Reprieve Jorkahn cut down the remaining infantryman with ease. He died with a shout, surprised by the new warriors appearance. His body twitched as his spirit fled him. It was obvious that he would not be riding off however. It appeared as though the 70th battalion's forward company was starting to surround the pair of half elves. Allyria Allenmorde -Encountered Enemies: NoneAllyria would reappear atop the Tower in Morith. No worse than she was when she left the spectral realm. Fyrra Na'Limndra -Encountered Enemies: 85th Battalion-9 Killed, 30 wounded. Blood splattering into the sky, screams, fire. Soldiers were starting to desert the area. Then militia men started dying in droves. It sounded like the enemy were about to break, and someone had then rallied them. If Fyrra had any concerns regarding that, the shouting would make sure she did: "FIND THE MAGE! I WANT THEIR HEAD!" Tyr -Encountered Enemies: None-Nothing to add. Tyr is in a safe space.
@namaphry -Encountered Enemies: 70th Battalion -Reprieve Jorkahn had slain the final infantry man, and that had earned them both a reprieve for the moment. Unfortunately, the 70th battalion's forward company was not letting them escape. Soon troops began to surround them. It would be less than a minute before the noose closed and they'd be beset on all sides. Kell Lo'TharanEncountered Enemies: 77th Battalion5 Infantry Kell had managed to surprise about six guys in total. Two of his shots from his barrage went high and missed the company in front of him, the other three murdered their targets on the spot. Three more infantry had come in to attack him, but the dark elf's hammer had crushed them in a pair of swings. With that, the infantry decided to approach cautiously. Five men surrounded the Drokagr half-breed. Spears leveled.

Jorkahn's rescue had arrived just in time to usurp the appearance of being a rescue. Though the wound to her pride was greater than her tiny injury, neither was very much, so she chose to forgive him. Returning her weapons to her scabbard, she grabbed the waterskin, mounted her horse, and bit down on a dragonfruit she'd taken out of her pack, sparing a moment to become aware that the enemy now had her and Jorkahn surrounded. It didn't improve her mood, though she wasn't giving her mood much thought at the moment.
"It looks like you've brought the whole battalion down on us. If you want to impress me, show me you can cut a way out. I'd rather stay back and shoot arrows..." She rode out to where the soldiers had spread out the most, and run the farthest, to start softening them up so that Jorkahn could clear a way out.

Redgar could hear the chanting over the fighting. Then the chanting got louder. For a minute he was confused. It sounded like it was his name, but it was wrong. They were missing the R. The R was very important. It made the difference between him and some other dude named Edgar.
A stupid name.
"It's REDGAR, you fools! REDGAR! Not EDGAR. There's an R!"
Then he realized it wasn't the militia chanting, it was the foolish SKC that was trying to chanting. Perhaps there was an Edgar coming this way to challenge him? He looked forward to it. He waited, halberd at the ready, Baalrung drooling in anticipation.

"Yes. Redgar is likely to need assistance. Though he is a good military commander, he has the penchant for getting knee deep before he has his boots on."
Perhaps it was the most insightful thing that Mina had ever said about Redgar. She tended to try not to talk about him. He was her cousin, he was the head of the family. It wasn't proper to undercut him. But this she saw was both a compliment and a cut. He was a good commander. He did have the penchant for getting knee deep in terrible situations before he was ready. What she didn't say was that she believed he always came out on top of it anyway. She felt it didn't need to be said. Tyr had interacted with him enough. He should know what kind of person Redgar was.

Their path through the city was clear of kingdom troops, and thus their trip was fairly uneventful. The trio would make good time to the tower, and spend much of it in silence. Kilinger had very little to say here outside of wondering how the horses would fair. He assumed Tyr had forgotten about them in the rush of battle, and that meant they were likely going to be lost to whatever looters came snooping around. Unless the fleeing SKC troops ignored them, in which case maybe there would be a chance later. Fate would decide that one.
Tyr on the other hand was mentally preparing to finally meet this 'Katrina' character he'd heard an interesting amount about. She sounded like a devious witch really, manipulating everyone around her for her own sake. He would have to work to insulate himself and his own from her machinations, harder still to keep them from harming Redgar and Mina. There were a thousand ways this initial meeting could go, and he was running down possible conversations for each of them.
So imagine his surprise when instead Kilinger just avoided the whole issue.
As they approached the tower, Kilinger passed by one of the militiamen standing guard and had a short conversation without Tyr noticing. When they finally got to the tower he waited a few moments for Tyr to pace from anxiety, then casually cleared his throat.
"Ol' Redgar is fighting by the South Gate." Tyr stopped in his tracks, processing this sudden change in circumstances while Kilinger grabbed some supplies from a crate and started passing them around. Water and dragonfruit rations, sure to cure that pesky dehydration they seemed to be suffering from. The two men ate and drank, recovering from the heat. When they were all settled, Tyr piped up again.
"Well, shall we go see if the Governor needs any assistance?" And with that, they'd be off again.
Group reaches the tower, resupplies, eats/drinks. Sets out, but due to turn mechanics probably doesn't get anywhere yet. Will do stats later.

"FIND THE MAGE! I WANT THEIR HEAD!"
A thought passed through Fyrra's mind, down her skull over her tongue, and out her lips. She didn't hesitate to say it, becuase the other voice had surprised her completely. She felt a visceral fear clamor over her body. First it originated near her neck, because who doesn't fear being beheaded? Then it came out the space on either side of her spine near her lower back. Then it just washed over her. Suddenly she was sweating and clamming up. If she was holding something she'd have dropped it. The voice was far off, but in the moment, it felt like it was next to her.
"Oh shit."
"What do we do?"
"I uh... didn't think they'd notice it was a mage doing all that."
"What, are you stupid?"
"I'm sorry! Let's... keep in cover and wait for this person to show themselves."
"Ah. The old 'Ambush the strong' plan. That'll work. What if they're prepared for you."
"That's what you're here for, right?"
"Right..."
Nervousness pervaded the two drokagr women. Now they waited for the next thing to happen. Hoping they were still unnoticed. Or rather, that their position hadn't become compromised.

Jorkahn had come to help the other half-elkagr but she didn't seem too pleased with him. He fought the urge to roll his eyes, there was never any pleasing this woman. The Champion watched her as she mounted her horse and was getting ready to leave when he noticed the 70th battalion surrounding them. He smacked his lips in frustration before turning back to the ranger and giving her a look. Did he just get blamed for them being surrounded? Where he came from was clear just a few moments ago, how was this his fault? If she was being sarcastic the Ritgr didn't catch it.
Jorkahn gave a bow to Rithaleya from atop his horse. "Very well." He almost added 'My Lady' at the end, knowing how much she hated it. But he thought better than to anger his allies in the middle of battle. When he rose the Champion of Jewels brandished his two-handed axe and galloped in the direction of the tower where the 70th was spread the thinnest. The battle mage thought about unleashing fire upon his enemies, but the last time he did that it backfired horribly and he did not wish to cut off their escape route. For now, he would swing his weapon in a wide arc.

His intial engagement had gone to plan, people were falling all about him, although his wellspring energy was low it was slowly being gathered still, magic was his most versatile skill and while the hammer definitely did work it required far more effort and was far less flexible in it's usage.
Unfortunately the soldiers werent just happy to let him down their comrades and leave him be, instead five more advanced towards him and once again he was met with the now quite familiar site of men with weapons looking for a way to kill him. So far their weapons hadn't managed to penetrate his armour, he was hoping that luck would hold for as long as was necessary, if he was especially lucky maybe they just wouldn't hit him. For now it seemed that he didn't have to focus overly on his own defence as his armour sucked up most of the damage, instead his best way forward was to remove the obstacles in front of him, the obstacles in the shape of SKC footmen.
Kell would swing his hammer once again in the wide arcs that he had favoured so far, aiming to catch as many of his opponents in each arc as he could and so remove this current obstacle.
