Xyn did not know what to expect from this duke, a provincial governor in this land. It was odd to Xyn that the duke was illiterate, but that fact created a certain opportunity for Xyn that he greatly appreciated. In exchange for teaching the Duke as his teachers had taught him, he would possibly find an ally high levels of the government. It was risky playing both sides like this, by all accounts the Duke was appointed by the Sorcerer King and it was truly ulterior motives that had brought him to Morith. He was convinced he could accomplish both and tutoring the governor was a perfect cover for other intentions in Morith.
He approached and entered the tower, introducing himself as Xyn Huy. Informing those who were attending that he was here to answer the Governor's request for a scholar. He would see first what the Governor would offer, but it was very likely that he would need to find a place to stay. Perhaps his companion would have found something by then.

"'Oy, this funky looking guy wants a word with ya, govner."
"Governor, who?"
"Aye, sorry. I mean Governor Duke Karligar."
"Send him up. I'll see him immediately."
Redgar wasn't afraid of a lot of things. He wasn't afraid of funny looking guys. He wasn't afraid of assassination attempts, mostly because he thought everyone loved him and that there was no possible reason why someone would try to kill him other than in the sport of war, and he wasn't afraid of monsters. What he was afraid of was his fucking sister and being made to appear like a fool. This cushy position in the Morith governmental structure was dangerous to Redgar's ego at the moment. He could easily fall into looking like a fool if he didn't brush up on the lessons that his sister received when they were children. He could fight, he could conquer. He couldn't read a damn letter, much less write one. How was he to enforce the laws of the land if he couldn't read them?
An SKC footman would escort Xyn Huy up to the top floor of the tower. The room was bland and sparsely furnished. The Duke sat at a long thick desk in a well carved chair. The previous governor had good taste, but had taken much of the trappings of the room with him when he fled. Redgar still wasn't sure what the hell had happened before he was appointed.
"I am Duke Redgar Karligar, Governor of Morith Province, and apparently the stand in for the rest of the major positions until I find someone to take those positions. What are you here for, sir?"
