With a yell of frustration Hikari tossed the Ansai-Cruic dictionary aside. She rested her against the tree she had been leaning on by the road. The tree provided nice shade of from the dry heat of the midday sun.
Why did the Cruinthians have so many words for fighting and war? She sighed and ate the last of her sandwich. She had been traveling for quite a while and so far the language barrier was not an issue but she imagined she would need it when in the major cities. Hikari needed a crash course, fast.
Getting her gear together she set off once again on the path to Sorath. She was burning daylight, and the sooner she completed the reconnaissance in Sorath and Fordeth the better. She was also already marking movement of people as she traveled, it seemed that a lot of non human races were making their way out of central Cruinthe. There had to be a reason for that, she just needed to figure out what was going on.

-"Merrake, can we take a break? I think I may be dying from this heat."-
-"Yes. We've made a good distance from Sorath. We should be safe for now."-
Fyrra sat down on a low cobblestone wall that was next to the highway. It was in ruins and no longer served whatever original purpose it had. She was wearing a dark green silken sarong around her hips, and a matching top that was tied in the front. Merrake was wearing what she normally does. Sweat was beading on both of them. The rest was welcome, even if it was in the horrid sun.
That was around the moment they spotted the foreigner.
-"Look at that person. Very different looking than any Hanneth I've ever seen."-
-"You're a magnet for them."-
"Hello? Are you lost?"

When she saw the two Half-Drokgar Hikari's hand instinctively hovered close to her dagger. They looked exhausted from travel but she was not about to let her guard down. However when she realised they were trying to talk to her she had a moment of panic, this is the kind of situation she wanted to avoid.
-"I do not understand you,"- she said in her native tongue, shaking her head. she doubted they would understand her either but on the off chance they did she would be in luck.
An idea came to mind and she carefully took out the not-so-useless-now dictionary and tapped on the Ansai part of the cover hoping it would convey the message.

"I don't think she speaks Cruic. Which is odd. I dont think ive met a human that doesn't speak cruic."
"I agree. I don't recognize that symbol. But it looks like Cruic on the front too."
Merrake went over to the foreigner and would put her hand out for the book. If the person handed it over she'd look at it and quickly determine it was a dictionary.
"She has a dictionary. That's what it looks like."
"Bring it here."
If allowed Merrake would bring the dictionary to Fyrra. She'd page through it, then hand it back. Merrake would give the dictionary back then.
"Too bad neither of us can read Cruic. That'd be handy right about now. Do you have a map?"
"Yes."
"Point out where we are to her."
Merrake did so. She pulled her map out and indicated where they were currently on the map.b starting from a common place was a good baseline for communication.

Hikari handed off the book to the woman. Unfortunately nothing came of it, at least nothing she could understand. She took the book back and returned it to her bag. Hikari was about to take her leave from the two before the one closer to her pulled out a map and pointed at the location.
Even though she could not read the marking on the map she could tell the stronger looking woman was pointing at their location, Hikari guessed she was asking where she was going. She saw no reason to lie and point at Sorath, or what she hoped was Sorath at least.
Hikari pointed at herself and pointed at her eyes, to indicated she was sightseeing. That was the only cover she could think of on the spot.

-"Hmm. She pointed to Sorath, Kalimbra."-
-"Oh. Oh! Point her to Ne'Ranmba Rul, if Allyria is still in the city she can help her."-
-"Good idea."
Merrake had thought it was a good idea. However she had no way to convey the information. Hand gestures would fail, as would words. The information was too specific. Then she thought of something. With her thumbnail she pricked her index finger and used her blood to draw the symbol that was on the taverns sign. It'd be recognizable enough.

For a moment Hikari was very confused and concerned when one the stronger looking woman started smearing blood all over her map. However on further inspection she saw that the pattern made sense, it seemed like she finally found her lead. Still she did not know what kind of place it was that had the symbol and the blood made her think it might be dangerous.
Slowly and carefully Hikari drew out her dagger, her other palm was raised in placating gesture. If allowed to draw her weapon peacefully she would use it point at the symbol and said the only Cruic word she knew.
"Julgrava?"

"Julgrava, why would she want to know where he is?"
"Dunno. Maybe to avoid him? I want to avoid him. That's why we're leaving."
"Hmmm. Ok, I'll point out where he is so she knows not to go there."
Merrake pointed her finger at Fordeth saying "Julgrava," then pointed back to Morith saying "Friend, Allyria". Hopefully that was enough to help the foreign woman. Merrake couldn't think of anything else to say or do to show her more. With the language barrier almost insurmountable there wasn't anything left to say or do. Fyrra shrugged at that point, she had said enough herself.
"Can we get moving soon? Unless she has something else to say I think we should move on. If she meets up with Allyria she should be fine. That woman has a gift for languages."

As much as Hikari wanted to ask more about what was happening in Fordeth and Sorath there was little she could convey with just gestures. However there was one more thing she could ask about; she pointed at the women and pointed to the map, specifically the roads leading away from Sorath trying to ask them where they plan on going.
After getting he answer Hikari would nod her head to the women in thanks and start heading off towards her destination eager to get going with her newly acquired information.

"Oh, I think she wants to know where we'really going? Do you think it's safe to tell her?"
"I leave those decisions to you."
"Hmmm. Alright."
Merrake traced her finger to Morith, then drew a line to Innorsford. That was the complete opposite direction of where they wanted to go, but Karligar were still a large problem, and passing through SKC controlled territory was not smart.
With thathe waves would be exchanged and the Drokagr women would continue on their path.
