Allyria set a hard pace. About fifty miles a day. Though she had ridden her horse from Sorath to Morith, and then to Morith near the edge of Skaraptica just outside of Karligar territory, she had walked the rest of the way through the forest, as she didn't want to risk falling from her horse because of the unsure ground. The trail they had followed was a game trail, narrow, and trecherous in some places.
Either way, it had been several days. But they had made it to Hillsfar in the early morning on the 27th of Ausoris. She had settled on a small clearing just outside of the village. Honestly it was a two minute walk into town, and no one seemed to bother them. They were right on the southern highway. If she remembered her maps right, Rosterford lie to the south on that road. She started setting up a small ring of stones, with some Kindling she brought. She hadn't brought a tent or a sleeping bag of any kind. Summer was a good time of year to sleep under the stars, and it hardly rained.
"This little hamlet is Hillsfar. I haven't been here before. There's a ruin about a mile north that I want to check out. First I want to secure a camp here near town, and see if they have anything useful for sale. Say, how do you feel about magic?"
That was important. She couldn't believe she hadn't asked yet.

He was use to travel, but Allyria had them at a pressing pace. An excited one. He was a little afraid the horses would give out from exhaustion. They didn't.
The two didn't really talk during their ride, mostly the only times they'd say anything to one other was when she'd inform him to set camp for the night, when they were to head out in the morning, and when each other needed to use the... bushes... It was somewhat a standard and peaceful journey by horseback.
They finally came to arrive in hilsfar-- close enough any how. he watched as she began to set kindling in a ring of stones. He listened as she told him her plans to proceed from here. Then asked how he felt about magic. Honestly he didn't have an opinion either way. He didn't practice the arts, even though he was always curious of it's schools and application.
"I don't have any problems with it, if that's what your askin'. I'm no Cast'r too. why? you an almighty sorceress?" he asked somwhat in jest, but curious too. At any rate, if she was It'd be a good thing wouldn't it? make things easier.

"Good, that will make the mundane shit go easier. Let's head into town. Then we'll take a look around that ruin."
Allyria stood up from the circle of stones and kindling and started to walk towards town. She had wanted it set up early. In case they came back and were too tired to do anything but go to sleep. Magic would be the method she'd use to light the fire. She was going to let him put it together that she was a sorceress. Not all powerful, but it was implied that she was indeed one. Nothing illegal about that for her.
She wasn't human anyway.
The woman had her hand me down robes on today. A more personable appearance for interviewing the townsfolk on the subject of the ruin. Plus, if they needed to do some shopping it was easier to do so wearing clothes that had more pockets than she could count.
"If you see something you think we need at any of their shops let me know. Keep an eye out for potions, and that sort of thing."
With that she went into town to take a look around. Hillsfar had about two thousand people from what she could tell by counting the buildings and houses. Most of the adults were up and around. She approached the first citizen she saw.
"Excuse me. Do you know anything about that ruin up there?"
Hopefully this random soul knew something.

Arkaegis felt like he was coming to understand something about Allyria. She didn't seem to be the kind of person who could just sit still, not even for a couple moments. At least in this particular situation it was this way. Perhaps if she didn't have somewhere to be, she'd be different. For now, she was direct to the point about everything and Ark liked it this way. Made it all feel less like things were dragging on. They were now in town speaking to-- interrogating-- the locals about the ruins north of the Hamlet.
She had also asked if he could keep an eye out for potions among the stalls. So he kept his eye out for any thing set up along the street. There weren't, at least not in the immediate area. Hopefully they'd find one further. Though a healing potion, or invigorating one was a useful tool when in a bad scrape, what he really wished for however was a good shield. His last had broken a month ago when a bandit tried to take his head clean from his shoulders. Since then he had to be more careful about which contracts he'd take. Though he knew his way around a sword, Arkaegis preferred to have a good cover when he really needed it.
Arkaegis sighed and continued on.
"Do ya really think the common rabble will ev'n know anyth'n about these ruins? I mean, I'm going to assume that ye know about them cause yer rather educated right? So ye probably know more, even care more, than any of these street folk. Maybe instead of ask'n them about the ruins, ask if there is anyone in town educated enough to even care. Ah, shit, I'll just do it..." Ark realized he had a mouth too, he could just as easily be asking.
Approaching a stall, he waited for the merchant to finish with his customer.
"Ey! Just have a question. Ya know of any one around here who might know the area very well? Maybe ev'n history or legen's of the ruins north of here??" hopefully the merchant would point them in the direction of a scholar, or a sage. That seemed like the best place to start.

Commoner:
"Ya'll from out of town, obviously. Ya don't want to go round the ruins. People don't come back from there. More than half dozen legends about the place. All of it bad. Crawlings with ghosts and Revnats."
Merchant:
"Oh you can ask anyone. The legends about the place are great stories. Bedtime stuff to scare kids mostly. People don't go there. Place is fuckin cursed. I heard it's guarded by ghosts wearing armor. Most legends are consistent there. Called revenants I think."

The commoner had told her what she thought she'd hear. That the ruins were dangerous. That people didn't go there. That no one ever returned. That there were legends about the place. That she didn't want to go there. It was all bad. It was crawling with ghosts and "Revnats". She had said goodbye to the commoner and followed after Arkaegis, just in time to hear the Merchant's response to whatever question had been asked. She gestured around her when the merchant was done as if indicating that her new temporary hire was wrong about the people and the area. Of course they knew something about the place. That it was cursed and haunted and such. Nothing she didn't think would be the case already. But it was the point of the matter. "Revenants. I've never heard of those. Ghosts wearing armor. Ghosts don't wear armor. Not as far as I know. It would be interesting to see one up close."Allyria considered leaving immediately for the ruins, but decided against it. There were things she needed to do. Like change, and see if there was any equipment for sale here in the market that they could use. She spotted the potion stall and a few others. "Here, take this money. Buy at least ten of those healing potions they're selling over there. And any of that armor or weapons you want. We'll split the potions, you can keep any left over gold."She concerned herself with the contents of her pack in the meantime. Where to store the potions? On her belt, or in her cloak? Decisions decisions. --Market thread.Allyria Allenmorde-Stats: 35-All HP: 700/700 Stm: 242/245 MP: 461/473 -6 Mercurial Lamp-Drains 2MP from Arkaegis -Charge: 6/200 Seer's Evasion: -1 MP Sudden Sight: -5 MP Allyria Passes 37 Ritz to Arkaegis
