Allyria was completely pleased with the work she completed on Lady Wylmonts armor. But she was tired of working on armor for the time being. It was time to forge some weapons. Ikram looked like he could handle himself, and he preferred a halberd if she remembered correctly. That wouldn't be difficult to make compared to her scythe. She could do that. If her overall assessment of him was correct, she could make a pretty decent weapon for him without it being too heavy.
She selected four iron ingots from the shelves and brought them over to the forge. In her mind she had devised a halberd that was mostly iron from the head until about a quarter of the way down the shaft. The rest of it would be carved wood with studs in it to help mitigate the overall weight and balance issues.
The forge was already hot, the warehouse was also hot in general from the summer sun. Sweat gathered on her, steam rose from her body as she worked.
The iron began to glow a hot orange. She took her hammer to the ingots, bringing them into the shape she desired. Simultaneously pulling at the metal with her power, creating and honing all at once. She plucked off several globs to form the studs.
She placed it all in a vat of oil to cool when she was done, after the iron had already cooled enough to be moved without bending.

Ultimately the weapon came out the way she had planned it. Strong but light. Good for mobility, chopping, and stabbing opponents. Not to mention removing them from their mounts if necessary. This weapon she set next to Astris' armor once she was done hammering in the studs.
Now that Ikram's weapon was complete she could begin work on Astris'. She believed a blunt instrument would be best suited for the woman. Not something so messy or difficult to use as a sword. One could hurt themselves much easier with a sharp weapon they didn't know how to use. Allyria didn't believe that Astris was incapable of learning the sword. She just believed that Lord Wylmont was more inclined towards weaponry, where Astris was in the opposite direction. That was more or less her impression.
The craftswoman selected two iron ingots from the shelf and brought them over to the forge, planning out a sort of hand-rod weapon. Something she could easily wield with one hand, but packed enough of a punch to punish or fend off most close assailants.
It will do nothing against those crows I fought in Skaraptica... but bandits and such? The threat of a solid braining will be enough.
She set to work, heating the metal, joining it into a solid piece with a small ball at the top. No larger than her own fist. She used her powers to help shape the metal. The shaft of the weapon was angled to become a point at the bottom, to cut back on weight, but to also give it a piercing quality if necessary. It would be difficult to accidentally impale something when the end that would be braced against a wall or something was rounded. It would simply fall over harmlessly. That was part of the intention. The other part was that the noblewoman could wield it to stab if necessary.

By Allyria's estimation she would need more leather for Lord Wylmont's body armor than she did for Lady Wylmont. They were both close to the same height, but his chest was broader than hers. She chose the same general design as she used before. A layered armor that would provide good resistance to damage, though being of a heavier build, incorporating armor for the upper arm and the shoulder. She stepped away from her forge to accomplish this, selected nine pieces of leather, and went back to her tanner's bench. There she took scissors, knife, needle, and skill to the task.
When she looked over her work, inspecting it for any failures in sizing or what not.

The chest armor had turned out perfectly. She set that aside on a rack next the Lady Wylmont's armor to await the rest of the set. Then she moved on to the boots. Those would be a similar design as Astris' and the chest armor. Though heavier. She went straight to work on that. Halfway through Vekkia came by with a plate of bread, potatoes and berries. It was lunch already. She had been working for hours and didn't even realize it. The other half-breed left the warehouse again, which was another thing that happened before that she didn't realize due to how engrossed she had been in her work. She was alone to finish the boots.

When the boots were done she took them over to the rack with the others, putting it all in order. His and Her armor. His and her Boots. His and Her weapons. Then she sat down to eat finally. Her lunch was cold but she didn't care. It was just sustenance to keep working.
Which is what she did, kept working. The gloves were next. She took the same amount of leather from the stacks and started working on a matching design for the rest of the armor.

Failure.
And she fucked it up. Royally. There was no other way to describe it. Somehow she had managed to shift the design and produced a pair of gloves for monsters with too many hands and too many fingers. She tossed the wreck into a pile and started over. Somehow she had spaced out while working.

Those had turned out better. But she was running out of materials now. Those few failures she had was enough to set her back some time. She still had enough material to make a belt, but not enough for a helmet. Allyria couldn't find Lily in the manor or in any of the warehouses. They had gone to lunch and left a note behind. It wasn't a problem, she went to the market herself to refill her stock.

By the time she had returned the leather had already arrived at the warehouse. That was good, she could set to work almost straight away. She spent the better part of half an hour putting the materials away herself though. Grayson was minding the store, Vekkia was probably buried in a book, and Lily was probably doing the same. All noble pursuits. Which left Allyria to work the warehouse. Not an out of the ordinary situation, but it brought her back to an earlier conversation she had with Vekkia in the day. The dawn had not broken yet.
She needed more employees.
Some teenager could easily do the heavy lifting for her, stocking the shelves and such. If he was trust worthy. There were some valuable items among those shelves.
She shook those thoughts from her mind. There were other things to do. Namely the belt. She would make a duplicate of the one she had made for Lady Wylmont.
The work was easier than normal. Perhaps the sunshine had improved her focus.

Allyria took to making a cloak similar to the Lady Wylmont's for her husband. It was the same process, just more leather and cloth, as he was bigger and there was a larger need for the materials. Once she had laid out enough leather she fashioned the cloak and it's hood. The clasps were made from rope and small bits of left over metal. Once that was complete, she lined the cloak with cotton to provide warmth. It was a similar process to what she had done before.

The cloak turned out perfectly. She dyed it a dark grey and let it hang to dry for several hours. When the Wylmonts would come back for their overnight stay, she'd present the equipment to them.

The Next Morning
Astris had reservations regarding armor. Just the general use of it. She'd badgered Ikram incessantly that night regarding what she'd need to know for physical combat. Despite his assurances, she found herself feeling entirely inadequate to this task. She just hoped she'd prove as useful as she'd sold herself, both to the Countess and Ikram.
Oh well. At least the rain decided to be generous and only slightly soak us both on the way in. She wandered into the warehouse slightly in front of Ikram who had ushered her in, looking around. "Hello?" She said to the uncanny silence of the surroundings.

I didn't understand the point of my wife's questioning. She was a mage, yes? Did they not have the ability to perform impossible feats of violence with but their will? I did not know. More than that, I did not much find care for the talking and talking and talking of the night. I tried to tell her, "You won't go anywhere alone," I began, "and you won't even need to defend yourself. At best, you might just scare someone, but with your thin arms no-one's likely to take you seriously." It might be better if she had a shield, perhaps, or a quarterstaff with which to defend herself. That might be the best I thought.
I usher my wife in from the sprinkling rain. It would not do for her to get soaked, much like I had been yesterday. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if she fell ill. It took a measure of self reflection to realize that I was more worried about her catching a cold than being injured in old catacombs reputedly full of skeletons. After she's in, I take my jacket from around her shoulders and shake it out before crossing the threshold of the warehouse and looking in.

Allyria had just finished setting up the armor on stands when the Wylmonts had walked in. She hadn't realized she forgotten to light any of the braziers when she had arrived early that morning, while the stars were still out. The forge was always alight, but that did not cast much light in the warehouse.
"Oh, sorry. Here."
The countess went and acquired a coal with a pair of tongs from the forge and dropped it in a brazier near the stands she had set up. Both sets of armor were next to each other. The weapons were spread on a small table that was in front of the sets. She was quite proud of herself. Once light had settled on the equipment she gestured at it.
"Those are for you. The suit with the blue cloak is sized for Lady Wylmont. The suit with the dark gray cloak is sized for Lord Wylmont. The Halberd of course is for you, Lord Wylmont. And the rod is for the Lady. I settled on a design that was broad in its uses for the rod. It appears innocuous in my opinion, which is meant to be deceiving."
When she was finished speaking she went over to where her armor was stored, inside a chest, and started to unpack things from it. First the backpack, then the armor and weapons. Meanwhile she started stripping off clothing so she could put her own equipment on.
"I'm heading for Sorath this morning. I'd like to be there by mid morning so I can check on some things. Then I'll be heading to Hillsfar for about a week. When I come back I think it'll be close to month end. I should have another expedition planned at that time. Oh! And your payment will be due a few days after that. Does Ausoris have thirty or thirty one days? The Cruinthian calendar is strange at times. Alternating back and forth like that. Anyway, that's where I'll be. Vekkia will be recruiting new employees during that time period. You may run into some of them at various A & F Locations. Do you need anything before I go?"
Half way through running her mouth she had managed to strip all of her clothing off and started to put her armor on. By the time she was done talking, she was fully dressed in her armor, cloak, and backpack. Her scythe was over her shoulder, a dagger on her thigh, and a sword at her hip. She stuffed several outfits into the backpack, and a set of robes, among other junk.

Astris looks at the armament meant for her. It's lovely. Like it was meant to be a costume, rather than armor. Though she had little doubt it would serve well. She'd half imagined that she'd be required to wield some ungainly sharp implement. She found herself entirely set at ease.
She looked back at the Countess to tell her so, waiting for a moment to reply in her energetic conversation and found the Countess stripping in front of them. She blinked a couple times then looked over at Ikram, who was likely still surveying his own equipment, and quite thoroughly pulled him around so his back was facing the Countess. To preserve her dignity of course. Not at all because Allyria was, in all respects, a beautiful feminine form. The Drokagr are curious in their freedoms.
"Uh...Oh yes. Well, we were heading toward Sorath ourselves, if you would like company. We have things we must see to at home and I must say, these are quite lovely. Thank you so much for your generosity." She managed an easier smile once the Countess was fully dressed.

As the lights came on, I took in the warehouse much the same as I did the first time I arrived here. When Allyria gestured, my eyes followed. Upon seeing the equipment on racks, and the halberd's iron shadow perched above cloak and garb I felt light. I almost put voice to the question, 'Those are for us?' before the Half-Drokagr answered it. I crossed the room to the equipment and looked it over. The leather seemed supple, but firm in its many layers. A staunch defense against some blackguard's dull blade. Had I had this with me the day I received my injury, I would have been fine. Just fine.
I put my hands on the cloak, the same color as the iron. It was fine. More than fine. Even it seemed to be capable of turning away a blade. Allyria's craftsmanship was beyond fair. For me to try to compliment it would be a dry and pointless thing. I would say thanks were it not that this was our contracted due. Still, it was hard to believe. The jobs I'd taken on required tireless work and no 'thanks' were given, and barely enough coins to scrape together to eat. This was something else. I felt almost as though this was a worthy price for whatever madness the woman might require me perform.
My wife worked to keep me turned, and so I looked back; a protest nearly rose. When I saw the Countess changing, I knew better and turned to face her craftsmanship. Perhaps I should change too? I thought. Everything here looked comfortable enough to ride in. I might as well. I took off my boots and began to don what was—according to our contract, my due. I said nothing about the return to Sorath. The arrangement would be agreeable enough to me as I did not mind sharing a road. I still wasn't sure what to think of our new employer, and I had often wondered how long the arrangement might last.

"You are too kind. I will be leaving presently. The more the merrier, so long as you don't mind a brisk pace."
The half-breed inclined her head at Lady Wylmont. If they wished to travel together that was acceptable. She however felt the crunch of time and was anxious to get on the road. She casually observed both the Wylmonts appreciating what she made them in their way. They seemed decent enough. She desired to get to know them better.

"We don't have horses." I interjected. "We took a carriage. If you're in a hurry, it's no way to travel." I speak as I finish clasping the cloak. It fits heavy on my shoulders—it feels solid. "And it's like to be wet along the way, unless the sky changes its mind, as it's wont to do." I shrug into the cloak further, and the armor is a fine fit. I draw the straps closer to feel the pressure more evenly across my chest and midsection. The measurements yesterday weren't for nothing. Lastly, I take up the halberd.
Mostly to peacock, but partially to test the weight I test the long pole by spinning it around my midsection, up one arm and down the other and draw it into a slow deliberate chop through the air and away from my nearby wife. I twist my hips and with a new step I draw the halberd into a straight thrust. This would do, I think. This would do very nicely.

"It is really at your convenience. We wouldn't want to slow you down with a carriage..." She trails off, watching her husband, apparently intent on slicing some part of himself off. That's hardly fair now is it? He's trained for this. Much unlike you.
She picks up her equipment. "You've been more than generous. We are at your disposal. If you wish to travel faster, we can meet you at Sorath and of course you could avail yourself of our hospitality." She mentions. The place is still a wreck, but it's only polite. Oof. The armor is heavier than she thought. Still, it would be much lighter being worn. She puts the cloak around her person and collects her things.

"Oh. That is appreciated. I will have to call on your home another time however. I plan to merely be in so rather long enough to check on my businesses. Then I will make for Hillsfar. And I must go around the Karligar duchy. Some kind of travel tax I don't feel like paying was imposed there. Shame, it is the fastest route to both Korasus and Hillsfar."
She watched Ikram test his Halberd out. He appeared to be well versed in its use. That was good. It seemed like her investment would pay off.
"Perhaps on my return trip I will take up your offer of hospitality."
She was only going to scout out the location. Te full expedition would follow when she had time to work out the details with anyone else that wanted to go along.
