Bulldozing her way through the market, Shokino got so close to knocking people over that she actually full out ran over someone. Of course she stopped and turned around to help them up, in fact, they were so happy that they were speechless! The poor guy just kind of stood there, staring at the Skaldi over a foot taller than himself, mouth agape in a splendid smile, she grinned back and patted the guy's head, calling him a good boy before she hurried on her way. 'Go a little slower this time' the voice told her, making her give a hissy giggle.
The reason for Sho's good mood was that she was actually going back to meet someone in the market today to pick something up to put on her head. That was only part of the reason though, the other part was that this someone agreed to teach her how to communicate with more of the creatures who walked on two legs like herself, but weren't covered in scales. Since leaving her tribe, she hadn't met up with any other skaldi yet, which was probably a good thing considering she wasn't likely to react well to others of her kind.
Spotting the stall from yesterday up ahead, she hissed long and loud in excitement before running up again to lean over the stall. She hadn't even realized she didn't know what to call the woman from the stall, "LADYYYY! LADY! SSSSHO HEEEERE!!" Though she didn't mean to, she couldn't help spitting a little viper spit from trying to say the sh in her name to quickly.

"Ah!"
Said the voice from under the stall. Allyria popped up from below it and placed the headdress she made on it. It was polished iron with some feathers coming out of it. Shaped to a Skaldi's head. The young half-breed was smiling broadly, excited to see that the Skaldi hadn't been killed since yesterday by someone who misunderstood. That was good news, Allyria wanted to get paid for the work she did, though she operated at a loss. Some piece of iron had been wasted in the construction, it was a sad tale.
"Did you bring money?"
The half-breed said, patting the fine headdress on the top of it, then smoothing back the feathers. She was proud of her work. Excellence was her goal.

Allyria will be practicing Cruic I with Shokino. This is not a teaching thread as both of us have the knowledge. We'll simply be practicing together.

Squirming happily, Sho nodded as she started putting things on the table in front of the woman. Those consisted of a piece of string, some very colorful rocks, her small bag of shiny round metal things[money], a few bones from who knows what, and a freshly killed rabbit. "Money? Good?" She hoped she had enough, in reality she owned a bit over a hundred gold.
Looking at the pretty feathers and shiny metal, she couldn't wait to put it on her head, wanting to more and more as she stood there.
(ooc: sorry it's short ;w; I couldn't think of much else)

Allyria looked at the vast collection of... wealth laid before her. It was an interesting assessment of what the Skaldi believed was money. How quaint the thought was. The creature was not on the same page as everyone else. But of course it wasn't, something told Allyria that this creature had previously kept to itself, never needing money. Perhaps that was the way to be? But sadly participating in society meant the use of money, a purely social construct.
"Ah ah. Let's start correcting that Cruic now shall we?"

"But I'm not sure what you meant. So let's see what we have here. What's in this bag? Oh.. ok. This is money. Do you know how much you have?"
Allyria didn't want to rob the poor Skaldi. She wanted to charge something that was fair for the work that was done. Hopefully the creature would put the rest of the things away. She didn't need the rabbit or any of the other things.

Watching the woman look over her things, Sho was actually able to wait patiently, finding it interesting to watch her expressions. She kind of looked a bit surprised and confused at what was lain in front of her, hopefully Sho brought something that was what she wanted. It seemed as though she wanted to practice a bit of her cruic first though, "Kay!" and she was happy to start if it meant she could understand the trade better. "Ssssho know lots words already!" Pointing up to her head first, she started listing what he did know so the woman knew where to start with their lesson, "Head, hat, ssscale, table, sssky, ground, cloudsss, and lady!"

Still unable to comprehend what the woman was trying to correct for her, Sho went on as well as she could, "Not all good?" She was a bit sad that not everything she found value in was worth anything to others, but at least she had something. Shrugging at how much there was, Sho simply dumped out her bag which held a little over 200 gold. Nodding to the woman, she was perfectly fine with her taking whatever she was wanting from the pile. "Take what lady need, Sssho like very much!" Picking up the headgear, she adjusted it to a perfect fit, loving the picture in her mind of how she must look like all the other women who walked around the market.

Allyria could sense a little bit of disappointment coming from the Skaldi. That was understandable, not everything that was on the table was of monetary value. Though Allyria was sure there was a study here in what Skaldi find value in. Not all that is treasure is made of metal or stone, which was a generally interesting thing to ponder when considering others. At least Allyria thought so. She could clearly see what the Skaldi treasured, and that was supposed to tell her something about this person in front of her.
"Those are good words to know."

"This is a Headdress, not a hat. It's like a hat, but the feathers make it a headdress. Do you understand?"
The half-breed looked over the pile of gold that was dumped out of the bag. She counted out twenty five pieces for herself, set them aside in stacks of five, and then shoved the rest into the coin purse and tied it off for her customer.
"Twenty five Ritz for the headdress. Which looks very good on you, by the way."
A little pat there on your own back for making it too...
"There are some interesting things here. Let's see. Rabbit, bones, colorful rocks, money, and string. Do you know these words?"
Allyria tried very hard to keep her pronunciation even and fully expressed while simultaneously pointing at the words.

Nodding slowly, Sho had an understanding of what the lady was trying to tell her. What she had wasn't really a hat, it was called a headdress. This just made it all the more special to her. She supposed she could understand exactly what made it a headdress instead of a hat with feathers in it, it looked harder and rougher than all the other hats she had seen, something not just made for show. It did feel safer in her lovely head piece, a sort of protection that she enjoyed.
Sho watched while the woman counted out and took a portion of the shiny round things that were apparently money. They were pretty, but Sho didn't really understand what sort of value other creatures saw in them. They weren't exactly edible, she had tried that once, they weren't effective weapons, just annoying, but she supposed they were kind of fun to play with, rolling them around on the ground and whatnot. Oh well, as long as they got her what she wanted she would continue to pick stray pieces off the ground she came across in her travels.
Pointing to each of the things that the woman did, Sho gave the words she used for such things in the same order. "Creature, bonesss, pretty rocksss, ssshiny cccircles, ssstring." Her names were by far more simple and direct but also much more vague than the ladies, easier to misunderstand for other similar looking objects. She did try and memorize and add the new words to her vocabulary though, "...Rabbit, colorful rocksss, and money?"

"Good. That's right."
Overpronouncing the 's' might be a Skaldi thing. Not a habit that needs to be broken right away. She makes up vocabulary for words she doesn't know by using words she does know. Smart. So her areas of deficiency are grammar and vocabulary. Nothing a little practice won't cure.
"I'll take my fee now, if you don't mind. I don't believe I asked for your name, what is it?"
And your occupation, and are you a slave? Better not ask those things right away. I don't want to overwhelm her. And I don't want to be rude. I assume asking whether or not a Skaldi is free or not is rude. There are so few free Skaldi though... I wonder if she has a master who is kind to her?
As all of this ran through her head she tried her best to listen to the Skaldi's response. At the same time she didn't want to seem rude for asking a question that was out of place, she also did not want to be rude for not paying attention. Allyria slipped the twenty five gold coins into her coin purse and called it even on the headdress. Not overly expensive, but not overly cheap either. Besides, she lost money on the venture by being an unskilled moron and fouling it up the first time.
What to do with this Skaldi...
Allyria had so many questions.
