He listened carefully to what she had to say, true that she raised a fair point but if it was not magic what was it that she had done before, a trick of the light? He didn't particularly think so. And if it was magic then she could become a good ally for him, so long as he could convince her that an alliance would be in her interests as much as it was in his. If not then at least he would know another mage, possibly one more experienced than him, that would be useful, he was still new into his power and so having a more experienced user around could help him.
Maybe she coudl even teach him to control his power, to harness it and use it as he pleased, it was not an easy thing to control it, to create the winds that he did, and sometimes he wasn't even sure if he was actually in control of himself when he used his magic. Whether he was using the magic or the magic was using him, the winds were hard to control, they had their own will and as of yet he'd been unable to use them in anything but the most basic workings.
Even then he wasn't sure if he was using them or them him to escape, he had no real idea how he did what he did other than that the power in him looked for an outlet and he gave it one, giving it a physical form and a use in that outlet, was he even fully in control of his power, he didn't quite know if he was being honest with himself.
"I think you do. If we both put aside the veiled talk and the sub-textual speak, we both know what the other is whether we want to believe it or not. The red in your hair, the scar on your face, they were no simple tricks of the light." He said, taking a large risk as he openly said what they had both been saying through veils, but then again, risks were his thing.
"Teach me. I am fairly new to my power and my control is lacking, I know only one thing and that is what you have seen here, I need to know more, teach me something of what you are capable of so I may grow, please. Teach me control if nothing else." The risk was incredibly large, Ulric could feel tension as he discussed this forbidden subject, but it needed to be said.
"I am capable of small workings only, and even then they don't work all the time, look." Ulric said, allowing the power to rush to his outstretched arm with his palm held upwards as he tried to allow the power a release from it.

Nothing actually happened, of course it didn't. "See, even when I try something doesn't happen all the time, it jsut fizzles and remains trapped in me." He could feel the power built in his hand, seeking the release he had sought as he tried to dispel it, trying to spread it back along his body to end the pain he felt at being unable to release the strain within his flesh.

Vivien sighed, so he was someone that just wanted to learn some magic. She seriously didn't want to deal with someone like him, especially if he was going to die soon. Of course he was, he was being so very reckless that somebody would come along and stick a knife in his neck at any moment before he got a word in. Was it really worth her time to waste it trying to help someone like him? Then again, he'd shown more adeptness than she actually had, so she wasn't even a suitable teacher.
Gesturing him to follow, she walked up to a nearby fence which she slid through the cracks, then walked towards a woodland area quite nearby. Once a fair way into it, she stood behind a tree and waited a moment, hoping he'd followed, and then, looking about to make sure nobody else was there said:
"I am not as skilled as you think, but we could learn from each other I guess."
With that she attempted something she hadn't really tried before, and reaching towards a branch hanging nearby she tried to destroy it using a little bit of magic she knew, a little bit of poison. A small tug came, but nothing more as she failed to do much, and acted like she'd simply been observing the wildlife.

"Neither of us are particularly skilled then, but surely working together and teaching one another would at the same time help us work on our own skills?" Ulric continued, trying to win Vivien over to his view and hoping that she would then consent to teach him some of her own magics.
She stood by as she walked over and slipped through a fence, waiting for her to go through before following her through the same crack, noticing that on the other side lay a fairly dense woodland area. Were they going in there for privacy then, it was a good idea as in there they wouldn't be able to be seen by any others, it would be useful to be hidden while they did their teaching and learning considering how what they were teaching and learning was infact incredibly illegal for them to be doing.
They wandered a small way into this forest before she stopped, focussing on a branch and raising an arm towards it, he waited for a few seconds but absolutely nothing happened. Had she failed? He knew that feeling far to well, it didn't always work for him either. "What were you trying to do? It doesn't always work for me either as you saw earlier so no problem, could you teach me whatever it was you were trying to do there?"

Vivien grunted, annoyed a little that the man had noticed, her original plan to keep it calm and casual, but now she'd need to give some sort of explanation:
"I just tried to alter it slightly, mostly destroy it and make it turn to dust. Doesn't work much, but I believe the term is Poison"
She smiled a little, the idea of such evil magic as such made her entertained and even a little happy. She could feel happiness, although people didn't often feel it when she did, so when people suffered for example. The man before her suffering might have made her happy, but learning more magic would certainly be useful for her so she didn't argue too much, but the idea of training him... Not here for sure:
"If I'm to teach you we need somewhere more private. A while out of this village is the wilderness, perhaps we could sit down somewhere off the path and try some stuff?"
She squeezed the branch and took another shot at poisoning it. Focusing, she felt a tug and when she looked at the branch she watched it blacken, turn to dust and float to the ground, well what remained of it. Perfect, the exact right time for things to go well.

"Your magic seems rather destructive, I like it." He said with a grin, destructive magic was usually flashier than any other kind and so it was naturally something that Ulric would much rather learn, although subtle supportive magics could also be useful to him for sneaking around and disguising himself. He wondered if she knew any of those sorts of magic, looking at her he wouldn't have imagined that she did, but considering what she did with her hair and with the scar on her face she must know some sort of way to create illusions or to disguise herself with magic surely.
Her idea of going further from the village was not lost on him, it was a rather good plan it meant that they would be much less likely to be seen as they would be much further away which meant they could practice in peace with little worry of interfering members of the public or worse mage-hunters.
"Lead the way, and when we get there I would be quite interesting in learning this poison magic that you posses."
Ulric looked at the slowly falling dust that was all that remained of the branch and couldn't resist having a little mess about, he raised his palm and pointed it at the settling dust before opening the gates and trying to send a burst of wind at it to once again shoot it into the air.

But of course nothing happened, Ulric shook his lowered head in shame at it not working before waiting for Vivien to lead him to a place she deemed fit to teach.

Vivien began walking as soon as he said, she wasn't going to waste time somewhere that she didn't need to be, especially with someone she didn't like she wasn't going to drop that no matter what. She dislike him, but she could put up with him simply because he was someone she could learn a little bit off of. Sighing she grabbed a stick off the floor and looked at it for a moment.
"Reliability is always an issue, I'll admit that"
Magic wasn't always good, it never worked when you needed it to and quite often you could injure yourself. Although... She squeezed the stick and tried to destroy it like the branch. This had little life in it she suspected so she had no idea if it'd work, making things a little tougher this time. Nothing happened, whether due to little life or a failure she didn't know, but she dropped it and motioned the man to follow her, heading towards the wilderness.

"Reliability will always be an issue until you master your art, it's the same in practically every thing in life though it's not just with magic." Ulric said as he followed her, watching her knuckles whiten as she squeezed the branch and concentrated...was she using magic again...he guessed so...it looked like she was trying to at least but nothing really happened.
Was he supposed to be using magic? She was at every opportunity and so he figured he should to. So as he walked along with her towards wherever it was that they were actually going, Ulric gathered magic in his palm, trying to release a burst of air at the back of Vivien's feet, content to annoy here now that he was slightly more familiar with her.
He wondered where exactly they were going, he was comfortable enough to know that she wasn't going to hand him in now, if she was a mage-hunter then she must be a fairly good actor to have tricked him thus far, and if she wasn't then handing him in would be signing her own death warrant also so there was no reason for her to do that.

Nothing happened, nothing at all, the power just remained trapped in his hand and nothing else, shaking his hand to dispel some of the strain he shook his head and followed his new teacher.
