Vivien walked along the path, feeling a little weird about herself, as if something had just happened, yet it hadn't. She was one for strange feelings she guessed, although maybe everyone else was strange and she was more normal. She couldn't tell, but she didn't really care much anyway, because too many people were just not worth her time and she was fine without them, so even if she was strange, nobody needed to know.
"I wonder what will happen today. If someone annoying approaches me I can't promise they'll be leaving with all their limbs..."
Her morbid muttering continued for a few more lines before she dropped off, getting so quiet it wasn't even speech any more. Nobody seemed to be around at this sort of time of day, and she was happy to walk along briskly, with a bit of wind in her hair and nobody going to get in her way. She was of course, not a people person, and everything from the scar on her face to her attitude could probably tell them that. But then... Sometimes people just didn't pick up on that, as like what had happened the other day. That had been odd, and annoying.

Ulric was strolling down the road as if he was a man without a care in the world, which to an extent could well be true, there wasn't much that would bother him or weigh particularly heavily on his mind so he would walk like it was a free country if he wanted to. Apart from the fact that this so called free county was in fact ruled with an iron will by an absolute tyrant.
It was quite a nice day, he thought to himself as he walked along, wearing his fine shirt and waistcoat, heading off to the next village down the line. The sun was shining, the sky was fairly clear of clouds and there was no real threat of rain, all in all fairly good travelling weather. Ulric lifted a small waterskin from his belt, taking a sip from it before returning it to his belt, he had enough rations to last him to his destination yet better to not tempt fate and use them up to quickly.
He could see another traveller approaching, coming down the path in the opposite direction to himself, she looked like a fairly rough customer and where on a normal person that would have set off warning bells, on him it did no such thing as confident in himself as he was. "Hello fellow traveller, what brings you out here on this fine day." He shouted out towards her, not particularly caring that they were not yet close enough to actually have a proper conversation.

Vivien glanced at the man. He hadn't really been there before, but she supposed it was easy to miss him if perhaps she wasn't looking out for people. She'd kind of wished she had been now, because he just seemed a little too happy for her, like a little animal which got excited over nothing. She supposed she had to reply to him, just because she' had a tendency of not replying in the past and people often got annoyed at her. A friendly approach could sometimes lead to good things so she put up with it and replied briefly:
"I'm just walking through sir. How about you? Seem awfully happy about something, which I see little reason to."
Maybe a little bit too harsh on first introductions, but nevertheless she said it. The boy in question looked quite the amount younger than Vivien, with blond hair and an oddly friendly face. There wasn't much she'd pick out as unique about him, but she felt like she only needed to talk to him in passing anyway, so it didn't matter that much. Instead she carried on walking, considering using some sort of spell on him to confuse him but deciding against it on the off chance he realised what she'd done and have a go at her for it.

"I'm also taking in the air, travelling towards the next village, walking through the same way as you." Chuckling slightly at the small rhyme he had made. He was still in his good mood despite the incredibly obvious pessimist stood before him who seemed to not quite like the fact that he was happy.
That was the problem with sadness and pessimism, they spread like a disease through people, being passed on through contact, or sometimes without even that, it was the biggest disease yet there were no surefire cures for it yet, surely all of the craftsmen in their workshops and laboratories and the mages in their homes could do something about it if they wanted, but they didn't. Then again, taking away sadness from people would be taking away part of being human, part of being a conscious being, sadness was just part of life everyone had to deal with.
"I'm happy because I can be, I see no reason not to be happy so of course I will be. You should try it, you might even enjoy it a little." He said, as they drew closer together, a glimmer in his eyes and a smile on his face.

Vivien couldn't say she understood the man, but she brushed any odd ideas off. He was simply a little too hyper for his own good she decided, and although it would be annoying, there was something about him that told her he could be bearable. Perhaps it was the fact that she'd been around morons for the past few days, so this guy probably had a little bit of intellect about him in comparison to the others. Supposing she needed to create a flow of conversation she spoke:
"I've tried it before, horrible feeling. I'll feel good after a few annoying people are gone from this world, that's my philosophy. I guess I can understand yours, but I shan't partake."
She was trying to be polite, because what she actually meant was that she wanted him to go away, and that she was probably going to try and find someone to kill in a little bit. But she was being honest when she spoke of understanding him, because she could just about remember when she was similar, a very happy and energetic child. In all honesty she preferred it now though, because not having those weaknesses made it a lot easier to kill or break laws. It made her wonder what she'd be like now, but put the idea to one side for a while.

Ulric was stunned momentarily at the woman's response, she must be one of those highly pessimistic types, yet he had no real idea why she was like that. He gathered that it was usually from a bad upbringing or something along those lines, yet he'd been ignored most of his childhood life and if anything he figured himself rather optimistic. He was judging this woman whether he liked it or not, and the verdict he was coming in with was not a particularly good one, but still he would keep his normal demeanour.
"Well for me it feels rather good, and while I agree the world would be better off without some certain people I'm not to fond of doing the deed myself. And what do you do then exactly? Mercenary? Adventurer?" She looked like a rather rough person so he was guessing something along those lines, he couldn't really imagine her being a scholar or a count particularly so those were his first thoughts.
It was a casual question, he was trying to steer the conversation away from the idea of her slaughtering rather a lot of people, she seemed as if she could be a rather violent person in the right conditions and that most definitely was not something that he fancied experiencing.

She wasn't quite sure why she had now stopped walking, but conversing with this man could at least provide some entertainment, if only a little bit of a laugh at him instead of with him. Well at least they had some sort of similarity in the way their minds worked, as they both believed that some people should be gone. Although he admitted that he wouldn't be the type of person that would be doing it, instead he wanted to know if she was, and what kind of thing she did. Now how was she supposed to answer that...
"I'm just passing by, nothing too special about me really."
With that she flicked her hair a little, deciding that maybe she should attempt to add a couple of light red streaks to her hair to add a little effect to the flick. She wasn't one for looks but maybe it would give away who exactly she was. As her hair moved through the air a few subtle hints of red appeared, which she could probably pass off as blood or just something else, but the man having not seen them there before might click on. But he wouldn't be able to prove anything if he tried anything dangerous with her because they'd already be gone.
"And what do you do?"

Ulric looked closely at the woman, something had obviously soured her, what exactly he didn't even know and couldn't possibly even begin to guess but something had turned her into what she was today. Although Ulric did not often take a dim view of people, this woman got him, she couldn't have fun or laugh or be happy it was all doom and gloom for her.
So she was just passing by, just walking along. That was a fair enough excuse in the young rogue's mind, a good excuse because that's exactly what he was doing as well, just passing through and they had happened to cross paths as they walked. It was interesting how fate could sometimes cause you to meet people that you wouldn't even dream of talking to before. That was, if you believed in fate.
And then she flicked her hair, the movement caught his eye and he watched as midway through her hair became streaked with red for a moment, how exactly he didn't know, but it dissapeared as soon as it had come. How had she managed that, her hair was no longer red and it hadn't seemed like any sort of parlour trick that he had seen before, and he'd seen his fair share and then some of parlour tricks, performed a fair few himself.
Could it be...?...no, it wouldn't be magic. Someone wouldn't so blatantly use magic in front of a stranger that they had only just met would they, unless they enjoyed living on the wild side, taking risks. Just like him.
Ulric smirked slightly, a more playful glimmer in his eye, well two could play at this game of subtlety and magecraft. Ulric opened himself up to his own feeling, the heat within him that was his magic, the currents that ran through him, pulling them towards his right arm. His right arm was itself pointed at the floor, hand in a claw motion so as to trap the magic there while it gathered.
Feeling the magic welling in his palm, Ulric focussed on it, his distraction turning from the woman for a few seconds as he focussed and planned for he magic to come out from his palm and create a small twister-like effect below his hand.
"As little to me as there is to you it seems."

The leaves at his feet stirred slightly but otherwise it didn't really go to plan, Ulric cursed his bad luck at this point and hoped that she wouldn't have noticed that he had tried anything at all.

She was tempted to make another hint about her magical capabilities, but Vivien was pretty sure she caught a glimpse of surprise on the man's face which told her that he'd probably spotted. It could have simply been a bit of the light playing tricks on him of course, but it was kind of obvious that he was certain of her skills as he moved his hand a little weirdly, but nothing much happened so she continued the conversation like nothing was happening. He admitted to them being the same as each other, in a quite sneaky way she had to admit.
"Hmm... What's your name anyway? It's always good to know a name. Some people apparently can have power over you with a name you know?"
She paused for a moment before grinning and continuing.
"It's a shame I don't know anyone like that, I think it'd be quite entertaining"
It was true, she knew very little in terms of people, and she herself was not able to control people, well not that she'd properly tried yet. She supposed once they dropped dead she could maybe do a little bit of trickery on them, but nothing too special really. Ignoring any odd movements the man made she decided that he had noticed her, and that he probably was at least slightly skilled with the forbidden arts. Perhaps she was wrong, but just... Maybe the hand movements and the slight strain? Probably reading him wrong again, people weren't her thing.

So now she seemed to open up, she grinned a bit, if he hadn't just seen it himself from how she was acting before he wouldn't have guessed that she would even know how to smile, and that was putting it mildly. It seemed that from the highly roundabout way of this conversation both of them knew what the other were capable of, to an extent, that was if he was reading the flow of things right.
"I can't help but agree there, it would be very entertaining. I'm Lionel, and you?" He said to her, giving the name that he frequently used with the various women that he had....met over his time travelling, it had worked thus far and he saw no reason for her to not believe him.
She seemed a rather amusing person, deep and complex rather than the shallow and easy to figure out women that he was used to, she could well be a rather interesting person if he could somehow take the plunge and begin their conversation out in the open instead of with the constant wordplay that they were currently using.

She suddenly wondered if the man had a little bit more power than she'd first anticipated. It was completely possible that he had some sort of power that she had suggested, and he hadn't even been phased by her vague attempt at trying to get him to go away a little. Oh well, at least she had something to call him now, it didn't really bother her how legit it actually was, it just made things easier when telling him to bugger off. However she'd still been asked a question so she reluctantly spoke to him:
"Lionel hey? I'm Vivien"
She'd used her normal name, she wasn't one for trying to be deceitful, she'd just straight up tell them her name, however pretty much everything else she'd probably lie about. This didn't mean she was that great at it though. Waiting a moment she saw that this conversation seemed to be going nowhere, so she kept on her way, taking a few steps slowly off in the direction she'd been headed. If the man wanted anything else from her he'd have to entertain her, or at least find a way to convincingly talk to her, she felt little inclination at the moment to stick around.

She really was a tough nut to crack, even trying to walk away from him now that she apparently had deemed him not fun enough to talk to. Why exactly she had deemed him as such was beyond him, a conversation was a two way street they both had to uphold their parts in it, and in no way had she been upholding hers so if anything he was the one that should be bored with the conversation.
He sought a way to bind her to the conversation for longer, he'd just been starting to enjoy the damn thing and she was starting to walk off. He thought that he was quite an amiable person persoanlly, and no one had ever given him any reason to believe that he was boring or that conversing with him wasn't entertaining, yet this woman presented a front he had never met before. She sought to just get away, she was overly pessimistic and preferred talking in riddles and saying things without saying them openly rather than straight talk. He saw her as a challenge more than anything.
Ulric felt the blowing within him and summoned it to an arm, twirling that arm around in a spinning motion as she began to walk away, so she wouldn't actually be able to see what he was doing, hopefully this would work otherwise he'd be left looking like an idiot again.

The air beneath his outstretched arm did as he meant it to, forming a small twister that would barely come up to Vivien's waist, before with a flick of his wrist he sent it towards her where it would pass through her legs and envelope them in a harmless small twister that would hopefully re-interest her in him.

Vivien paused, looking down at the wind gusting around her legs. It was odd, the winds didn't hurt but she could for sure feel their strength and it gave her a little discomfort. She had to say the man had to be a pretty good mage to manage something like that, at least on such a quick notice. Even if she admitted he was good, didn't mean she was a fan of him yet. Instead of doing what would have been expected and showing interest, she merely glanced back and shouted:
"Bugger off with that stuff, I'll catch a cold"
She wasn't sure if it could have been taken as a joke, but the winds weren't exactly warm and the amount of cold on her at once might have been able to make her a little ill. Perhaps this was incorrect but for now she went along with it. She didn't really want to use too much magic in the public eye though, and the thought this man was carelessly creating wind, it'd probably mean he should be attacking her, that was if he knew she didn't have a license. She'd just have to act like that hadn't happened from now.

Ulric gave a laugh at her response, not sure if she was joking or whether she genuinely meant it, but either way he curled his hand into a fist and the winds dispelled, leaving the woman standing there with no winds around her now. He could feel the minute drain that using the magic had caused, yet it wasn't enough to particularly effect him so he wasn't to worried, but still it was something to keep in mind that even when using magic as a joke it still drained you a bit.
Looking around once again, Ulric saw that there was no one else around other than him and Vivien, which was handy considering he'd used his magic almost without thinking of the consequences that it could have had if someone else had seen it. As it was, he still wasn't sure if Vivien was going to report him, although he guessed not as she had made no real threatening comments or movements towards him that would show him she was hostile towards him. If anything she had seemed rather unfazed by his small usages, prompting him to believe that if she was like him as he had thought, then she would be much more powerful if his magics didn't interest her in the slightest.
"I'll show you more of mine if you'll show me yours." Ulric said at her, with a grin and a laugh as he realised exactly what he had said, unsure how exactly she would take it.

At least the winds had stopped, although he seemed more interested in her than she was in him. From her point of view he might just be another either annoying or boring person, although using magic wasn't exactly something she saw as boring. Crossing her arms she considered it all for a moment, would it be wise to do this, especially somewhere out in the open like this. Plus, she still didn't know if he was from the training ground for government mages or not, so she couldn't really do much till then.
"Who says I know anything about sorcery? Although, I suggest any practice of it is not done so publicly. If you must know more I would strongly recommend you find somewhere else."
She didn't quite know what was going on in his mind, but she was at least slightly interested to see how his magic worked and similar to that. She knew little in terms of magic compared to the more advanced casters out there, and she never got the chance to learn more due to constant threat of soldiers and the such. She could remember one such encounter. But still...
Placing a hand on her face, she traced her finger along the scar which glared at anyone that saw it, attempting to for a few seconds make it invisible as such. Using a little sorcery of course. Feeling a little tug, she was sure that it was gone, and grinned at the man in front of her, before allowing the scar to reappear. Her hand blocked vision from anyone else that could have been an onlooker apart from Lionel. There might have been nobody around but it was still worth being cautious.
Vivien tries to make the scar disappear for a few moments.
