"You might want to chase them. It's not like I can run very far or anything, I'm kinda old."
She hated saying that but if it would save her hide she was more than happy to admit her age. Of course she didn't care too much about the health of Emmeryn, but she guessed they had enough in common for her to have a tiny bit of sympathy, although breaking into a crying fit really wasn't something that a professional would do and it probably just put them in more trouble than they had been. She still blamed that old man, but now she'd have to do something. Hoping that one man would follow Emmeryn, she addressed only one and quickly pointed in the other direction:
"Look, another magic caster!"
With that she dived sideways and made a break for a nearby shaded area near a house, attempting to use a spell she'd worked on a while ago. She wasn't great at it but with any luck she could hide a little and then sneak round the side of the house and then continue to make a break for it. Only problem apart from its unreliability was that the house overlooked the field and so she would also have to vault the fence or find a gap, the latter would move her away from the darkness and make her more visible.
Shadow-Sneak
Vivien uses her knowledge of the shadows to enshroud herself in darkness, becoming difficult to spot in dark places or places of shadow whilst also changing her body colours to match the shadows, allowing her to blend in and sneak around people easily.
Effect: Vivien's power stat is subtracted from enemy detection test thresholds.
Cost: 32 MP

The soldiers were confused. Very confused. Suddenly there were many women running around dashing here and there trying to elude them. Not just the two that had been there before. Multiples of the one woman, the one with the long brown hair and the attitude. The one that sheltered the other, was running about everywhere. They stood there stupidly, with their jaws agape. Did they know what to even do when they got their hands on an actual honest to earth mage?
Not in the least. They weren't trained for that. The man before was a kill of opportunity. They had been lucky to get him before he was aware of their intentions, really.
The other two, they had thought the other two mere women.
So they stood there dumbly. While one attempted to mask herself in shadows, and the other clearly got away unscathed.
"Uhm."
"I don't think I'm paid enough to chase down actual mages."
"Me neither. Let's get the fuck out of here, call the mage hunters. Yea?"
"Yea. Two Rogue Mages are more than we can handle."
The footmen fled.

Emm risked a glance over her shoulder and very much liked what she saw. Neither soldier had even bothered to give chase. They looked dumbfounded. An insufferable grin spread across her face like a forest fire as she ducked left into the trees. She gave a small jump, pumping her right fist into the air. She'd live to annoy another day! She was happy with that, very happy. Living was pretty nice.
Her foot hit a root and she stacked it, smacking her face into the earth, which kinda pissed on her parade, but she stumbled back to her feet and kept going, still happy. She ran for... well, she lost track, but a little while, before removing her coat and putting it behind her head as a kind of pillow as she sat down and leaned against the trunk of a thick tree. She briefly wondered if that other woman, Vivien, had come out of the whole thing okay. She'd given off the vibe that she could handle herself, but Emm couldn't help but wonder. She was unarmed, after all, and the other guys had proper weapons. Not great odds, but if they cared as little about chasing her as they had about chasing Emm, then she was probably fine. Still...
Emm shook herself. She normally didn't really think about others, or dwell on the past. The present was what mattered, and a bit of the future. That guy being stabbed must have really affected her. She could still hear the gush of the blood, smell the metallic tang in the air... she shuddered.
Her rest over, she stood up and put her coat on. When bad stuff happens, you move away from it and go and find good stuff. That was her motto type thing. And that's exactly what she would do. She continued walking through the forest to find a less violent town.

That had been easier than she'd expected, they kind of just left without even a warning or anything, not that she was complaining as that randomness had probably just saved her hide. In all honesty she was slightly thankful for Emmeryn's stunt because that meant that that they'd both escaped, although she wasn't in the sort of mood to hunt the girl down just to say thanks, she had her own plans.
Her plans included getting as far away as possible from her current location and settle down somewhere. In fact it had been on her mind for a while, as she didn't really want to bother with all the violence if she could just get herself a little house away from people or something and live her days there practising magic a little and living the easy life. Who said you needed to fight or work hard when she could just turn a piece of wood into a deckchair and a pond into the beach? She'd heard a lot about beaches, and she liked the sound of them.
Moving away from where the guards and Emmeryn had gone, she attempted to alter her facial features a little to look younger and more like someone which might have been your usual citizen...
Changing her face to look more youthful

Of course to no avail. No she wasn't having any last minute cool moments or anything, not that she needed one as she was simply leaving and that was it. She sighed and moved away from her location, eyes set on never being seen again.
