It was high time Tyr let himself in on some of the betting action. You needed to have a little fun every now and again, even if you lost a whole bunch of money in the process. Not that he was planning on it mind you, but it happened.
"Two bets today. Ten thousand Ritz on Jorkahn winning with at least five, and thirty thousand that the North division will have a sweeping victory with more than 10 points." The Duke gave a grand smile, while the bookie looked at him and shrugged. He muttered something about not being surprised anymore and started writing down the bets. Half way through he stuck his hand out.
Tyr shook it.
"......I need your money."
"Oh, yes, right, that would be a thing." He'd never done this before, it was somewhat awkward. He fumbled a little through writing a cheque and traded it for a receipt. Could never be too careful with having record of where your money went.
10,000R on Jorkahn winning with at least 5 points. 30,000R on North winning by >10

Guinevere hesitated at the thought of forking over so much money over a simple duel. It didn't feel right, when such money could be dedicated to public works. Or further business ventures that could only increase her wealth, and not make her lose it. Doing something even so forbidden, in the eys of deceased parents, turned her gut sour. Face scrunched up a little as well, this was definitely uncomfortable.
"200,000R on the North winning by over ten points." Such a coward, not even rooting for her own side. The disappointment ever so lacking on the bookies face before her.
"Though, I will be betting 100,000R on the contestant from the South winning. Some 'E' name." Even after being corrected she did not think on remembering the name. In the end it didn't even matter.
The cheque was quickly written and ready for the bookie.
100,000R on not Jorkahn winning. 200,000R on North winning by over 10 pts.

Well here he was, the final match of the tournament. He never though he would get this far, people were already calling him the Champion of the North. If he played his cards right he would soon be called the Champion of Jewels. Not that he saw that happening, but he had been pleasantly surprised so far.
Jorkahn ran his hand along the shaft of the tournament grade axe in his hands. It was surprisingly dirty for just a few matches. The wood was chipped and jagged in some places, covered in dirt and otherwise marred by scars. The blade itself was warped and dull, more his own doing than the fighting itself. The boy let out a sigh and once again thought about the woman whom he had paralyzed in his first match. He hoped the mages could help her.
All the betting had concluded, the preparations had been made, now he just needed to wait for the signal to begin. Time to make his sister proud.
