Registration Booth
"Why hello there! Are you here to register for the tournament? What weapon will you be using. And your name? Your entry fee is 312 Ritz and 5 Duc. Ah, there we go. Thank you for registering for the tournament. Show this card to the Tournament master over there and he'll tell you when your match is."
The registrar was a short, cute, girl. She was between the ages of twelve and fourteen, and was clearly a cruinthian. Her black hair and blue eyes fit the idea of a picturesque Cruinthian. Of course she had the Sorathi child haircut still, the short hair and the one long lock on the left side of her head. The left side denoted that she was female. She would take the money and then fill out their card. Name, Weapon.
If a Skaldi was attempting to register for the tournament her dialogue would be different.
"I'll need to speak with your master to register you for the tournament, unfortunately. Please return with them, space is limited."
Then once a "master" returns with them the girl says the following:
"Ah, you're this one's master. What is your name? And what is their name? And what weapon will they be using? The registration fee is 312 Ritz and 5 Duc. Thank you. Please take this card to the Tournament Master over there and he'll tell you when your Skaldi's match is. Enjoy the tournament!"
(PM me once you've posted your registration.)
Arena Description
The arena for the tournament was on the outskirts of town on the northern side of the city. There were stands to seat about 10,000 people comfortably. In the standing room only section there was room for another 6,000 people. The betting office was on the south side of the tournament grounds. Vending and concessions were on the north and south side of the tournament grounds. The stands were on the east and west sides of the tournament grounds and were constructed of wood. Everything was situated around the ring which was in the center. The ring was one hundred meters by one hundred meters of hard packed dirt with twenty foot walls. There were six entrances to the arena, and each had a portcullis. These were down in the middle of a fight.
Vending and gambling was provided by the Serpents Head Inn.

Jorkahn arrived on the last day of registration for the event. On his travels he had come across rumors of a tournament in Sorath. On his way to the city from Mardok there was plenty of time for those rumors to be confirmed, and for him to think about possibly joining. Even just a few weeks ago the boy wouldn't have even contemplated joining, being convinced that he had no chance of winning. However after meeting Tyr, finding out he could cast magic, and going through the ordeal with the Skaldi he felt a bit more confident in himself. And even if he hadn't, Tyr's encouraging words during the situation that had led him to discover his magic stuck with him. The unconfident youth swallowed the nervous lump in his throat and walked up to the registration booth. What he saw caused a bit of the tension to fall away from his face.
The girl at the booth was young and cute, in a non attractive way. It made it easier to talk to her, being a child and all. For some reason that was lost even on him, the shy boy had an easier time talking to children than he did with adults or those his own age. Maybe he felt like he would be judged less from a child, or maybe he felt less threatened by their presence? Regardless he hadn't a clue, all he knew is that it was so. When he finally reached the booth, his face hidden under a large hood, the child asked him a few questions.
"Y-yes, I am." Just because he was a bit less nervous than normal didn't mean his stutter was gone. "A t-two handed axe please" his best weapon, "and my name is Jorkahn Wealddir." He was talking quietly and the registrar didn't hear him correctly the first time so he repeated his name before continuing to do as she asked.
He had left the fee with her and taken the required card to the tournament master. The lad looked up nervously at the official, his normal nervous ticks returning to him. Without saying a word, and barely able to hold eye contact, Jorkahn handed over his card and waited to be told what to do.

Junipos 14th, 200ATD -Scarlet
Allyria arrived in Sorath on the 14th for the tournament. Registration time was now. She approached the little girl at the booth and signed up immediately, paying her entrance fee and entering in with the one handed sword. It would do her some good to get some physical exercise, and perhaps she could win some jewels and prize money through her participation. She wore the guise of Scarlet to keep herself from being recognized in the arena. Something told her that just wouldn't do.
"Yes, young lady. The name is Scarlet, I'll be using the one handed longsword."
The half-breed took the card and looked it over. The fees were paid and then she brought the card over to the tournament master. Everything was as the little girl said. There was a lot going on in Sorath though. Apparently the event's refreshments and food were provided at least in name by the Serpent's Head Inn. She surveyed the stands and the arena in which she'd be fighting. It was a large venue. Somewhere around fifteen thousand people, she thought, could fit in the stands. What a construction project. She'd have loved to be a part of it and learn some things.
Of course, that was why she had joined the tournament too.

A tournament, it seemed like quite a fun idea especially considering in this one there was no risk of him actually dying. It was fought with fake weapons it seemed, a good idea to prevent loss of life in a time when lives couldn't really be spared.
Arthurius approached the young lady who was registering the fighters, even if he lost it might be a good bit of fun for him, something different in his life other than his normal work, all he did was gather ingredients it seemed, not much of interest had happened for him as of yet and so this could prove to be something new and fun.
"Arthurius Vallance" Weapons weren't really used by him....he wasn't really good with them at all, the only one he owned was his spear, and he had yet to actually use that anyway so he had no clue if he even would be able to. He pondered it for a few seconds before realsiing that he might as well use a spear here as it could be helpful in helping him learn how to use a spear, and if he could gget the basics in a situation like this then afterwards he could probably begin to do well with it.
"Spear please."

Gabriel had seen the posters around town. The idea of a tournament excited him. Sadly the death was not on the cards, you would always fight better when your life is on the line. Made it more exiting as well.
As Gabriel started walking towards the ticket booth he looked towards the younger girl. She was cute, and very pretty for her age. Gabriel quickly walked up to the booth and handed the money over. "Gabriel, and do you have a rapier, or if you dont just a one handed sword please."
Gabriel didn't know if his excitement was showing, sadly Gabriel wouldn't be able to use Sally. It was a shame, Sally was itching to be dripping with blood. Someone else's hopefully.

-Match 1, Day 1-
Allyria still had some time to place a bet before she needed to be in the guise of Scarlet and down in the arena. They were announcing the first fighters in the tournament now. She looked them both over. Though it was said that Valentina was a veteran tournament goer she felt like the young half-breed was more likely to win the fight. She went over to the betting tables and placed her wager.
"Two thousand ritz on the participant Jorkahn please."
"Aye, pay out is one and a half per unit for first day matches. Here's your ticket. Don't lose it. No ticket, no winnings."
"Thanks. I'll keep a good hold on it."
Allyria said. She waved, handed over the bank cheque and walked away with her ticket. Then she found her way down to where the fighters were supposed to be and got herself into the guise of Scarlet without being seen.

Having left his duchy shortly before the start of Junipos, Tyr came strolling into town around mid day on the 14th, Ssryl following him into town. Taking in the sights and sounds of the big city, the Duke wandered a while before making his way to the tournament grounds and registration booth. Tournaments were such fancy affairs, he would have to hold one in his own lands. They were a great event for the people to come out and enjoy, and it brought plenty of travelers in with the promise of good food and a party. Ahh, but he'd been asked a question hadn't he?
"We are indeed here for the tournament! My name is Duke Tyr Mardok and the Skaldi here is Ssryl. We will both be using one handed maces." As he answered the questions the man fished out the required coin, stacking it neatly on the booth in front of him. He had carefully avoided calling Ssryl 'his' Skaldi, but it likely wouldn't be too noticeable. Most people would assume that since he was speaking for it, he was the master. So be it really, it saved the two of them a fair bit of headache. Glancing about the city as the girl filled out the registration cards, Tyr started wondering about the logistics of such a large city. His own duchy had problems getting food to the people occasionally and the city had to have what, double the amount of people perhaps?
Taking the cards in hand, the Duke inclined his head in a polite acknowledgement and headed off to the Tournament Master.

200 ATD Junipos 14th, just past Noon.
Henri and Azrak rode into town, having heard of the Tournament only through word-of-mouth in Fordeth. Back in Fordeth, they'd seen some interesting things--the Skaldi Slave Pits included. One day, their route had passed by the pits, and of Azrak's accord, they had gone in. He watched the proceedings, his scaly skin seeming to become even more rock-hard as he watched his people suffering. Henri had seen just what kind of a person Azrak was, then: the type who grew even bolder when faced with adversity. Henri admired his mercenary, even though they still were not truly on speaking terms.
Azrak's eyes had perked up when they heard of the tournament. Henri himself wanted to enter the tournament simply as a test of himself--but he realized that his Skaldi guard was the only one with any chance of winning between the two of them.
"Yes, Henri Corday. I'll be using the one-handed sword, and my Sk--"
"Azrak fights with the one-hand axe." He always spoke in the present-imperfect tense, Henri had noticed. He hadn't asked why, since the assumption was that the Skaldi didn't know any other tenses; however, perhaps there was a truly philosophical reason to his grammar usage.
Probably not. But the kid was no slave.
He waited for the girl to register them in the tournament, then handed her a cheque for 625 Ritz--and a separate one for 2000.
"I'm also placing a bet of 2000 Ritz that Azrak the Brave will win his first match," Henri said. If the Skaldi won, he would recoup his entrance fee, along with the fee it actually cost to pay Azrak to fight. No combat had occurred since he'd bought Azrak, and he wanted to see how the lizard-man moved in battle. The Tournament would be more than a chance for the two to gain notoriety; it'd be a chance for Henri to see how much trust he could put in his bodyguard.

-Spectating from her seat after her match. Day 1-
She had been there since the beginning of the third match, and had been there all through the first match. Though she hadn't had much to say during either. Curiously she was missing for the second match. But no one had made a fuss about that so far.
"Is it just me, or does Arken seem more or less like a fake barbarian? Like he's some kind of... act? I don't know. I don't know any actual Darthaki types. But from what I do know about geography, the Darthaks are not south, and all the people from Helmistan are either in Cahalia, or dead, so he can't be from Helmistan."
It's just me isn't it.
"I mean seriously? Does no one else seem to think Arken's a farce? What in sweet Azuloth's name is a Darkblood warrior?"
Anyone?
Anyone?
Bueller?
Allyria was looking around at her fellow spectators for an answer to her questions. This may have been her first time to a tournament such as this. But damn was this Arken guy confusing.
The Arthurius kid? Well she didn't actually expect him to last through the whole fight. She was counting on him losing. Not that she bet any money on either of them. It seemed like it was a bad idea, what with Arken sounding just nonsensical to her. But really. Did no one else have a comment? No one?
Betting data for Day 2 stuff:
Tyr Mardok: 1000R to Win Henri Corday: 1000R to Win. Azrak: 500R to Win

The final day of the tournament had finally arrived. The betting information had been posted already. Odds were good that she'd get some winnings. It was time to place an outrageous bet of sorts.
"You heard me."
"Ma'am... no one bets two hundred thousand Ritz on a division winning by more than ten points."
"North division is ahead by fourteen points. Even if Jorkahn loses its not going to be by more than four points. It'll be by two. It'd be stupid not to make this bet."
"Your loss ma'am. Cheque please."
She wrote it and handed it over. A chance to win a cool million? She'd take it. It was a sure thing.
Allyria bets 200,000R the north will win by >10
