"I was apprenticed when I was barely 10, and spent twelve years drifting between masters. In that time I've made an uncountable number of things to practice my skills. I learned to work iron, steel, leather, cloth, and stone. I was given basic instruction in the use of other materials but haven't been able to get my hands on and work with them much. Bone carving for instance is an interesting thing, and can make some useful pieces. I just can't seem to get a supply of animal bones to work with" But hey if Gabriel was going hunting...
"If you do find anything in your hunting that could be useful for crafting, I'd be willing to look at it and possibly buy it off you. I could always use more supplies. Might even be able to make something for you out of it" Having someone who could bring him in more supplies every now and again would be fantastic. He was no hunter, getting fur, leather, and bones on his own would be difficult.

Tyr was coming up as a remarkable man in Gabriel's book. Not only was he capable of making these pieces of art and his back story was of most interesting.
Gabriel was interested when Tyr said about the hunting for him. "Well I was thinking of doing some hunting when I was properly equipped to be honest. I'll tell you what, when I get anything I will bring it here for you to get first dibs. How does that sound." Gabriel was excited to be soon hunting. Sally would be able to taste some blood for once.
Gabriel carried on half day dreaming and half watching Tyr masterfully making all the equipment. This was going to be good

"That sounds like a good deal to me." Good, this was good. Tyr was making friends, getting his crafts out there, finding people who could bring resources to him, and also identifying potential candidates for his future plans. He had plenty of people to do basic tasks for him, it was the difficult things he needed to find people for. Tyr needed Ritgrs.
"You might go looking in the woods around the Duchy, we tend to have some animals there. If you go I might ask to join you though. I need to chop some wood, and it tends to attract the attention of a few things that would rather I didn't." Wolves and bears were one thing. The legends of what lurked in the Mardok's woods...well there were things Tyr would rather not run into without some help.

Gabriel thought of all the adventures that were starting to come together in his head. Oh god, there was going to be some action soon and Gabriel was excited. He thought he shouldn't show how happy he was to Tyr though, maybe the hug earlier wasn't the greatest idea. "I wouldn't mind doing that sometime, I always love a fight." Just after saying this Gabriel saw that the latest creation that Tyr was making had came out perfectly. Dam, Gabriel thought. He has been going so well. Everything of Tyr's is amazing. Gabriel knew that Tyr would always be able to make the master pieces he called weapons.
Gabriel didn't. Mind the wait he had to endure while Tyr made everything, it would be over soon he knew and the. He could have some fun. He was bursting with excitement.

With the helmet, gauntlets, and boots all out of the way all that remained was a belt and the upgrades to the vest and rapier. And then, if he was feeling keen on it, maybe a thing of second skin. Maybe. For now the belt. Tyr went with the same composition the rest of the armor was taking, 3 iron ingots and 2 leather. In this case it not only made the finished piece more comfortable, but it also allowed for a higher carrying capacity than it would have had otherwise. Sewing the leather together into the core of the belt meant he could use more of the iron to make small hooks and clasps for things to be attached to.
"Well with some luck you won't have to. The woods are fairly close to our town, the animals don't generally tread this far in, but it would be nice to have some protection none the less." With the hooks and clasps made Tyr forged the plates that would line the belt. They were the tricky part. Each plate needed to be hammer out, folded almost completely, and have the ends heated well above normal forging temperature. The leather would be slid through, then the folds would be hammered together in one go. Trying to heat the metal with the leather on it would burn the leather away. Painstaking work, but it would produce a good result in the end. Riveting the clasps and hooks on afterward would be the easy part.
Making a belt from 3 iron and 2 leather. Simple (30) + K (20) + Knowledges (Iron III/Tanner II/Armor III=40) + Forge (5) = Threshold 95 KG9gPteK Failure. Skill roll to save, DC 20. (2 of 3 for the thread)
Nope.
The last plate to be folded over touched the leather too early and the room filled with the wonderful smell of burning leather. Unable to pry the metal up quickly enough, Tyr got the plate off to find the leather band had burned clean through. The plates fell apart, now fairly useless with all the working they received. He'd have to scrap them and try again with new materials.·

Gabriel was watching as Tyr started making what seemed to be a belt. Wow, it looked hard work and a tricky job. No corners were being cut. It was a master at work, but as always no one was perfect and all of a sudden this master piece came crumbling down. Gabriel looked over to Tyr, he didn't give a lot away, but Gabriel could guess how annoyed he must feel. He was on such a roll.
Gabriel couldn't stop thinking of what lied ahead, once he got this he would be unstoppable. Well, hopefully. With that Gabriel went to daydreaming of killing people and hunting dangerous monsters.

Dumping the wasted husk of a belt in a heap by the forge, Tyr started over from the beginning. The leather belt was the easy part, but this time he would try something a little differently. Instead of sealing the metal together, he could just make it fit around the leather snugly, rivet a clasp onto each side, and clasp the plates to each other. Boom, no chance for searing the leather into oblivion. Hooks alone would suffice for the holding of things. You couldn't always make things right the first time, sometimes you had to go back and revise your design.

Nope.
Another failure. It just didn't seem like this belt design was going to work. He'd have to try again with another design perhaps. Maybe all iron was the way to go for this.·

Gabriel was there in the woods. Bandits approaching from every direction. Gabriel had a lot of mixed feeling, but when he drew Gabriel he knew what he had to do. One by one the bandits came out of the woods and went for him. Skilfully he was dodging in and out of attacks countering every so often to take down the foes. As Gabriel stood their breathing heavily the final bandit came out. He was bigger than the rest with a giant two-handed sword. As he ran forward he slashed down with the sword making the ground shake as Gabriel just managed to dodge to the side. Then the giant bandit grabbed his sword back up. A swing low that Gabriel just managed to jump over rolling towards his legs and slicing up with Sally.
A big red cut came upon the upper leg and belly of the bandit. Gabriel quickly rolled out of the combat waiting for the giant bandits next move. It took two slow steps forward then collapsed to its knees. Gabriel stood there in defeat trying to get his energy back then out of no where another sound. As Gabriel span around all he saw was a giant club coming down onto him. He woke up
He looked around, sweating. He was safe in Tyr's workshop. That scared Gabriel, he didn't want that to happen to him. Then he saw Tyr fail again at the belt. Gabriel knew the waiting would now be longer, but master pieces took time he told himself.

With the leather and iron combination utterly failing, Tyr decided to avoid that combination again and just try a pure iron mix. At the very least he had more of that to work with so failing at it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Failure wasn't exactly the most enjoyable thing, but it did slowly teach him what NOT to do. Making a belt this way was pretty simple though, Tyr forged small links into the sides of each plate, horizontal on the left, vertical on the right. All you had to do was line them up and close them around each other and bam, everything fit together. Solid plates, no bending required. Fitting the hooks on for items was again just as simple as riveting them all on. How could that go wrong?

Fail.
Plate Belt: 10 small slots, 40 DR, Req 16 Str, 8 Ag, 8 K
With the belt done, Tyr laid all of the equipment out on a table. He was originally planning on adding a touch more to the vest and rapier, but with the way the forge had been going the last few times he wasn't willing to test it right now. The chance of completely ruining the pieces just wasn't worth it right now.
"That's about everything for now. I think I need to give the forge a break a while before I break something else. For the set it'll be about 250 Ritz." The materials alone cost over 200 Ritz, he just wanted to value his work a little higher than that. Masterpieces like the ones he'd made should be worth something after all.·

Gabriel watched as Tyr made the final pieces. He went for a different approach this time, no leather. This time though it worked. Gabriel waited for Tyr to ask for Sally then he spoke.
"That's about everything for now. I think I need to give the forge a break a while before I break something else. For the set it'll be about 250 Ritz."
Gabriel could understand how Tyr was being cautious. "I understand what you mean Tyr, but don't get me wrong. I will be back when I need an upgrade, and anyone who I meet who needs something I will send them here. You are a great hardworking man who is good at their job and if you ever need help or a favour you can come to me." With that Gabriel put 275 Ritz for Tyr. "For all your good work. I'll see you soon. Remember if you need me I'm always here." With that Gabriel put his hand out for a handshake while scooping up all his new gear.
275 Ritz paid. -Cheph

Tyr shook Gabriel's hand readily, happy to have completed such a large request from someone. The shop had made money, proving its' usefulness, and now Tyr's craftsmanship would slowly get out into the world. Even if he wasn't out there, knowing something he made was helping keep someone alive while they adventured in the world was a wonderful thought.
"I'll keep that in mind, and I might call on you soon. Enjoy the equipment, may it serve you well." With that he would break the handshake and place his smithing hammer up on one of the tool racks. It was time for a rest, and some nice easy cleaning. He would wave as Gabriel left the Fishery then grabbed a broom and started sweeping. A fair amount of ash had built up from the forge, and there were small scraps of leather dotting the ground here and there. It wouldn't do to have the place be one giant mess, how would anyone else get any work done?
Thread over for Tyr.

Gabriel took one last look at the smith and his workshop, then turned to walk away. It had been fun in their and now he was tricked out with all his new gear ready for anything. He wondered where his next adventure would take him. Gabriel walked out of the shop with all his new equipment wondering what he should do next. He start start a group, he had heard some rumours of monsters, but who could tell a lie from a truth.
As Gabriel walked out he was hit with fresh air. In the Fishery it had been very smokey and the air wasn't fresh like out in the open. Gabriel would have to get used to it, he wouldn't be back here for a while.
