Gabriel continued to stroll down the street, he needed a weapon and he had one in mind but he had to find someone good enough to make it. As Gabriel kept walking down the street he day dreamed about the weapon. A rapier, lightweight and fast just what he needed. Most importantly it was deadly though.
As Gabriel came nearer the end of the road he saw a shop that looked promising. He stopped outside; drew up his hood, wanting to make an expression, flattened out his dress, and quickly retied his corset just that bit tighter. Gabriel preferred it tight, it blended in more with the black of his dress.
He walked to the door, wondering if it would be the shop he was trying to find. If it was he couldn't stop thinking about how wonderful it would look. Gabriel loved blacksmiths, while not being interested in doing the art himself, but respected the people who ran them. He opened the door and walked inside pulling back his hood as he got in

The workshop looked empty at first glance. All the tools were put up, the tables cleaned, but the forge was still lit and glowing. The back room door was open and candle light flickered from within, the light scratching of a knife on wood filtering out. The duke was hiding out in his room for the moment, slowly whittling something out of a limb he'd picked up near the forests. He didn't have a solid idea for it yet, so for now he was just shaving it down into a cylinder. Easiest shape to start from later.
When the doors creaked open he perked up from his absentminded work. Setting the block down Tyr walked out to see someone entering his shop. The dress, corset, and hair gave him the distinct impression of an upper class lady, not someone who would generally be troubled with walking into a craftsman's shop. It definitely wasn't Kaela coming back for another deal, the Skaldi were missing.
"Good day miss, welcome to my Artificery. How may I be of service?"

As Gabriel looked around and saw all the instruments of the craftsman, who she had heard good things about, hung on the walls he couldn't withhold his excitement. A man came out from the back room who she presumed was the smith himself, he was obviously a big strong man from having to do all the dirty work and he looked like one not to be messed with.
Gabriel walked up the type of front desk as it were and leant on it a bit. "Good day miss, welcome to my Artificery. How may I be of service?" Gabriel found it funny how just a dress and long hair could tell a person how it was a girl, he always wondered how weird it must be to meet him. Finally after a second or two Gabriel replied to the man, "Yes, I heard that your one of the best and I was wondering if I could get a price on a rapier (3 iron) and maybe an iron vest (3 iron) or something to defend me a little bit. I can see a few scraps could be happening for me soon....oh and the names Gabriel nice to meet you"

The voice clued him in a bit, but the pronunciation of the name even more so. Gabrielle was expected, Gabriel not so much. Why this man was posing as a woman Tyr would never know, but so be it that was his choice. "Ahh, my apologies, the dress was a bit misleading. Tyr, Tyr Mardok. I should be able to make those, just need some time. Price will depend on how easy they are to make, but it shouldn't be too terribly expensive. If you'd like to wait I can get right to work on them." He didn't waste any time really, ingots went into the fire and Tyr got right to work hammering them out. Three iron ingots into a long and pointy blade? Why not.
A5OjGqlr Iron Smithing I/II, Weapon Smithing I to create a rapier from 3 iron ingots. Simple/Iron (30) + K (20) + Knowledges (15) = 65 Threshold.
Skill roll to save the rapier, DC 20. (1 of 3 for the thread)
Masterwork check. Success!
Masterwork Rapier: Long and pointy! Damage: 33 Reqs: 12 St, 6 A, 6 K
With some quick hammer work Tyr was able to save what would have been a shattered blade and turned it into a masterpiece. He quenched the piece and held it out for inspection by his customer. It was a fine piece, with luck it would be just what Gabriel was looking for. ··

Gabriel was shocked and stood frozen to the floor when Tyr realised he was a male. Wow, Tyr had became one of little people to ever just realise he wasn't a female without Gabriel saying. "Nice...nice to meet you Tyr, how....how did you get I was a male, not a lot of people can guess that. I hope they aren't to hard to make, if you don't mind I'll just watch"
Then as Tyr got to work Gabriel stood their leaning on the front desk while watching as this master piece was made. The iron getting thrown into the furnace and then being hammered into shape. It looked like the blade may not have came out properly at one point but Tyr was quick to change that and at the end he held out the masterful, lightweight, long, sharp and pointy weapon. The rapier gleamed in the light.
Gabriel then stuttered, "It's....it's...it's perfect Tyr you're amazing. The feeling to hug the man was a strong one but then Gabriel control himself. "I mean it's alright" Chuckling a bit and smiling a big grin.

"The way you say your name. Parents tend to call their daughters Gabrielle, not Gabriel. And no, iron is not so unyielding as to be difficult. As my old master would say, you just need to practice your hammer skills." The hug after handing the rapier over was abrupt and unexpected, but Tyr returned it in kind. If someone was so appreciative as to display it who was he to stop them. As he started working another three ingots into small plates to make a vest Tyr calmly corrected Gabriel's assessment of the weapon.
"You were closer the first time. It's one of my better pieces, a masterwork weapon. You'd be hard pressed to find another weapon made of the same stuff that could do better." His teachers had taught him well, and he was very proud of the things he could create. "But don't worry, it won't be that much more expensive for it." He couldn't go charging people exorbitant fees because he happened to make their equipment better than expected. Plus if people got a good deal they would tell others about it. More customers meant more orders, and Tyr's legacy of creations would grow.
Iron Smithing I/II, Armor Smithing I/II, to make an iron vest from 3 iron. Simple/Iron (30) + K (20) + Knowledges (20) = 70 Threshold. hXCRaDcV Masterwork Check (Threshold 30, 2 possible degrees of success.)
1 Degree of success achieved.
Masterwork Iron Vest: 33 Dr. (Back, Shoulders, Sides, Abdomen, Chest) Req: 12 Str, 6 Agi, 6 K
The vest came together in short work as well, bright and shiny iron plates holding together wonderfully. Tyr admired the work briefly, then handed it over as well.
"Another masterwork, it's your lucky day! It'll cost you 48 ritz for both pieces. 42 for the cost of the iron, 6 for labor. Fair enough?" The Duke figured roughly 15% for his work would be sufficient. It was cheap to be sure, he barely made any money on the work at all, but then he wasn't really in this for the money.·

Gabriel was stunned at the work of the man, "Yes, I can see why it would be hard to find someone around here as good as you." Then Tyr turned around to start working on the iron armour Gabriel guessed. He was excited more than he should of been, and felt a bit sheepish with hugging him but Tyr seemed nice enough to embrace it.
Tyr worked like a God, carving out the iron vest. Gabriel stared in wonder. "Wow, its a pleasure to watch" Gabriel said a bit through it while Tyr hammered the vest into shape.
As Tyr turned around, finished with his work he showed Gabriel and Gabriel was amazed it was like Tyr was in his head and knew exactly what he wanted. "Oh my God, its so amazing I could kill you right now man, but I won't don't worry. Here's the 48 ritz" holding out the money "I will be telling anyone who needs items about this place and if I ever need anything else I will be back you can bet." Gabriel was grinning from ear to ear awaiting his new gear. He had a plan of his first stop with this lot.
Money transferred.

Tyr collected the money quietly and dropped it in a pouch at his side. It wasn't the most secure thing, but he wasn't too worried about it right now. An iron box would be easy enough to smash out in the future if things started getting dicey. Not that anyone was likely to rob the Duke's workshop, why not just hit the house he never lived in?
"Well just remember I do more than iron work here. Clothes, leathers, weapons and armor, buildings even, I do it all. Been known to try my hand at jewelry and home goods as well. If you need it made odds are I can get it done. The jewelry was a stretch, he had very little practice at that so far. Lack of materials mainly, and someone to teach him how to do it. There wasn't a whole lot of demand for jewelry these days, so there weren't many people making it.

Gabriel was happy with her rapier and vest. She wouldn't put on the vest now, but would save it for later and he couldn't wait to his rapier dripping with blood. Gabriel needed a name for it. Raising it up to the light so it gleamed off it, "I shall call her Sally, always been a lucky name for an item to me."
"Oh I forgot to ask, where could I get a cover for this, like I don't think sliding it into some of the laces will work as it will cut right through?" Gabriel needed something for Sally to go in, she couldn't be seen with a rapier just around she could harm someone

Wait, someone wanted a scabbard on their sword these days? Well that was new. Tyr looked around a moment in confusion, then grabbed some spare planks from the mill that he'd left lying around. They were originally going to be fuel for the fire, but why not make something of them.
"Gonna need to see...Sally for a moment." Craftsman he might be, Tyr never quite got over the naming of weapons and things. Just seemed odd, they already had perfectly fine names describing what they were. But he wasn't going to hold that against anyone, that was up to them. Taking the weapon back lightly he set it down on a table and used one of his stored felling axes to split the plank. Drawing a rough outline of the rapier on each of the halves Tyr handed the blade back and got to shaving the wood down.
Scabbards were easy to make, they were mainly wooden covers. Some fancier ones were covered in leather or had oiled fur on the inside, but that cost a lot to make and Tyr wasn't in the business of wasteful fanciness. Once the two outlines were shaved down and hollowed out it was a matter of using some animal glue to seal them together. Bam, scabbard done.
"Here you are, no additional charge. Anything else I can help you with?"
Not rolling for crafting as the scabbard has no stats/game impact.

Gabriel noticed that Tyr paused for a second when asking for the sword, properly finding the naming of one a weird thing. Gabriel didn't care it made you feel something towards the weapon and made him feel like him and the sword were one when he slashed and stabbed at bleeding enemies.
Gabriel watched as Tyr went away expertly and quickly making the scabbard. Gabriel loved how he worked with flow. As he marked the swords size on the wood and then cut it down to size. It may be a simple scabbard but it still looked beautiful to Gabriel. When Tyr handed it over Gabriel slotted it through on of the decorative laces on the side of his corset and rested Sally in it. "It is amazing Tyr thank you so much, actually on that thought of anything else. I am thinking of more armour maybe, like a full set. Just thinking I don't want anything bad to happen and want to be hard to take down. What's the best armour you could make for me Tyr, don't worry about costs I can cover it. Trick me out please.

"Well, that depends. What do you want it made out of? Iron, leather? If I had some cloth I could offer that. Do you want a joined set, or individual pieces?" Of course there was also the other set he could make... "And if you're alright with it I can make you something else that will help, but it will require me getting fairly accurate measurements of you. Pretty much everywhere." A second skin wasn't easy to make, nor was it particularly strong, but you'd be damned to find anything else like it.
"And is that vest acceptable? I can make it stronger, but it would be heavier. I don't know if that'd be a bit hard on you to wear though." Creating things for other people was difficult, because customization required you to know a lot about the intended user. Making stuff for yourself was easy, making a bunch of things and letting people choose what they wanted similarly so. This though, if he made any piece too heavy it wouldn't really be usable. Too light and it wouldn't be strong enough.

Gabriel could see the joy Tyr was having thinking of the countless number of things he could craft for Gabriel. Gabriel just wanted to be armoured fully, but not slowed too much.
Measurements of everywhere. This, Gabriel giggled at, he thought back the oncoming wave of things to say in his head and thought back to the task at hand. His vest could maybe use an upgrade (1 more iron) Gabriel replied to Tyr, "All iron please, full kit (4 iron for each cause of stats). Make anything you want too money isn't a problem. Take all the measurements you need and ask any questions you need too. My vest could maybe use an upgrade I could carry a bit more weight, and would the rapier still work well if it had a bit more weight aswell?(1 more iron in it). Maybe also a shield for my other arm if you could please. Don't worry about the money."

Tyr nodded, forging all of that wouldn't be too much of an issue. He had plenty of iron stored, all he needed was time. Money though, that wasn't really something he needed either. His Duchy was doing fairly well for itself, he had plenty of money. What he needed was people. People to go and do things for him, to be his hands for things he couldn't do himself. Asking someone that outright was difficult though. The commitment Tyr needed from someone wasn't something he could just ask for outright.
"Easy, it'll just be a bit while I forge it all. You're asking for fairly strong protection though, what are you planning on doing? Bandit hunting?" Most guards barely had as decent of protection these days. The state of crafted goods in the world was fairly low these days. Tyr worked through the chatter. He cheated a little bit, substituting some leather in for iron, but the armor wouldn't be any less useful, and would probably be a bit more comfortable.
Making gauntlets from 3 iron and 2 leather. Simple (30) + K (20) + Knowledges (Iron III, Tanner, Armor II = 30) = Threshold of 80. UbURmn6P
Masterwork check. Base 10 + 30 = 40, two degrees.
Two degrees earned.
Superior War Gauntlets: 48 DR, Req 16 Str, 8 Ag, 8 K
Tyr set the gauntlets on one of his tables, they were fantastic pieces. It was becoming a lot easier to make such masterpieces as time went on. Practice made perfect after all.
Tanner II! +2 Stat Points --Xynestro (my edit changed the rolls from 5 and 15 somehow)·

Gabriel watched as Tyr got to work again. It was like watching a master painter paint, but with iron, a fire, and a hammer. Gabriel thought he saw Tyr grabbing leather to put with the armour but he knew Tyr knew best and what would be strong. So he just forgot about anything like that.
Easy, it'll just be a bit while I forge it all. You're asking for fairly strong protection though, what are you planning on doing? Bandit hunting?"
Tyr asked Gabriel the question as Gabriel was about to nod off day dreaming. "I...I...I was planning on maybe doing some hunting, but it depends what comes around. There may be a few scraps on my life's journey, so I wanted some protection. When did you learn iron-smith Tyr, and at this level?" Gabriel stumbled on his words at the beginning, but managed to get his voice back on track to finish his sentences.
