(This Journal Entry looks more like a large spread sheet. With words describing boredom written all around the numerical figures, and lots of question marks. Followed by what appears to be an outlay for a large event.)
Why was I tasked with this numbers nonsense? Don't we I have some servants with slidey bead things that do all this work? The cost of this food is fickle. What use does knowing what six sides of beef will cost me? Ucckkk.
Is one ritz per head too heavy? Even in a such a somber event, I must show that my house is not in danger of falling apart! The Lyethe name is still one to be contended with! I am not weak, and without an heir my line is still stable. Everything is perfectly normal.
(Little splatters of dried moisture and other gunk adorn the page.)
Is it appropriate to have liqueur at a funeral?
If not, how unbearable some of the guests become? Lady Helen is not tolerable without a couple drinks down her gullet.
Lady Josephine and her cats, on top of that. Always making the dogs go mad, she refuses to go anywhere without them! I hate those vermin, if only I had the bravery to poach their milk with liqueur. Last time we were but a misplaced tooth away from having funeral for one of those cats, it would probably be a more ostentious funeral than the one planned for my parents. Fate would also grant me the privilege of speaking for the miserable creature.
I wish I could have them put into the ground and left at that. I don't need another trail of suitors, or more presents. I have enough fruit baskets that the greeting room needs to be combed hourly for insects. Or wait! I can ferment the fruit and use it in place of ordering liqueur! Put into the fancy bottles, and such. Not that even a percent of these nobles would notice the difference! With the plants I could create garden like setting in the dining and ball rooms, sending the message that out of peril life grows anew. Or some stupid shit like that. A clumisly overturned spoon spends too far a message in this world. Then the plants can be burned so my passages will no longer be assaulted by them!
I'll be glad for this fuss to all be over.
Going to our my summer home in- (A trail of ink leads off the page).
Mayor? MAYOR? Sure I put my name in for show, but never thought-
FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

Well, today was the funeral. More ritz later than I would care to admit, and being sworn into office. Why on the same day? Well because without the wealth of my family the government just does not wish to run. Wow. Investors do not wish to give money if things do not seem somewhat peaceful within the city. I honestly have noticed little going wrong, but then again I haven't enjoyed the public light. Lately. But now, hopefully all these visits can end and my foyer will go back to smelling like normal. My eyes can stop watering, and I can get going on this being a Mayor thing. Whatever that means...or whatever I really have to do. All I feel I do is get blamed for things that are not terribly my fault. The sewer collapsed? Oh it's my fault because I didn't strengthen the road that was last redone thirty years ago....Awesome.
I wasn't alive then.
The funeral ended on a more alarming note than I had hoped it would. Roses in white, red carnations, Sweet Pea, Iris, and bouquets adorned with rosemary and baby's breath, all the usual mourning flowers with the correct meanings. Even a few bouquets of roses in red, bachelor's buttons, and purple violets. All shows not appreciated at a funeral, but it was to be expected. Everyone just has to display they are available...even a few family names that could cause a scandal. Pathetic.
But one was of particular worry.
Daffodils in a group is fine, but alone it is a warning. Red poppies, several meanings, but I fear it means magic. Magic. Who knows? Who could get those flowers in here? Who will talk now, it is a long leap but they were out on display! Of course Rhododendron also adorned the vase, why did my guards not remove this! Must they be educated in such open languages as flowers! Only inserting aloe could have made it much worse.
The only thing worse is the insistence of tax collectors wishing to make sure all money owed them is paid, along with some account holders that wish to go over minute details. Great, now scheduling a trip to Fordeth, on top of this new position that wants me to stay home. Perhaps I can stay at the El'Lor's Inn. That would be nice.

THIS IS WHY WE HAVE ANTS!
THIS IS WHY WE HAVE ANTS!
THIS IS WHY WE HAVE ANTS!
(There is a stack of about fifty papers with this written several times over, all in different hand writing, degrees of legibility, and style. Obviously each piece of paper was penned by a different hand.)
This is why we have ants... and all other sorts of bugs.
I get this mansion was old, my parents would rant about how it stood since the beginnings of Viktoria. Whatever.
The excuses of "Milady, it was an old building!"
"Milady, Mildred was slacking off!"
"Milady, we've all been grieving!"
"Milady, Frank's retirement party!"
"Milady, the actual party because Frank retired!" (Fuck Frank)
"Milady, they are trying to blame poor Mildred for everything!"
"Milady, my son broke his leg!"
"Milady, we had to find you a new guard!"
"Milady, what about my son Tom as your new guard!"
So nobody cleaned while I was away? Nobody? What else were they getting paid for? Leaving moldy fruit, then leaving the fermented moldy fruit out to rot...just gross.
As Lady of the house I should be able to leave without coming back to a mess, and half the kitchen exploded.
I guess I needed a new house anyway?
Now, that my residence has been condemned.
My future as being head of the Household, isn't too bright.
I better cover this up with having my house explode.
That should garner some real pity.
Ha!
