Jorkahn let out a rather hefty sigh. This wasn't working and was only serving to waste time. He had come across some animals, partook in some good practice, and even came away with a bit of loot and some extra knowledge, but it was simply taking too long. If he didn't have somewhere to be he could do this until he ran into something a little too dangerous for him, but alas he didn't exactly have the luxury of time. At least, he didn't feel right taking that luxury. He wanted to see his sister, the rest of his family too, he supposed. He missed her dearly and the bad feeling had never left the back of his mind. First, to get across this river.
He took Libby's bridle again and led her to the river. There wasn't really a place shallow enough for him to cross on foot, but his horse was taller than him and should fare much better trying to get across. He took his pack and most of his loose items and would tie them to the horse's saddle, almost as if they were saddle bags. He stripped down to his leathers and left all but a hand ax on his horse. After everything was secured he gave the mare a small slap on her rear and sent her across the river. Libby seemed a bit distraught but made it across with little to no problems. Now it was his turn. The novice swimmer walked into the cold waters and pushed off the shore with his feet.

Jorkahn got across the river rather, swimmingly. The current was timid at best and put up little resistance. When he reached the other side he would dry off and put all of his gear and clothes back on. When everything was back on the young half-breed's person he would attempt to mount his horse and continue on with his journey. Only a few days left, two, maybe three.

The boy raised himself up into the saddle a little too forcefully this time around. He nearly slid off the other side of the horse but was able to correct his balance just in time to avoid falling over. Some day he would get the hang of this horse riding thing, he just didn't think it would be anytime soon. With yet another small kick into his horse's sides, they were off again. Things were beginning to get awfully predictable, and even a little bit boring. But Jorkahn didn't mind. It was a nice change of pace from the past few months. Everything had been either so much fun, or rather terrifying. He had experienced so many new experiences, met so many people, even made a friend or two! He knew his sister would be proud, and the rest of his family would, at the very least, be surprised. He couldn't say for certain if the surprise would be positive or negative, their reactions to things never really made sense to him. The only person he felt he truly understood, or who truly understood him, was Valorie. He was looking forward to telling her all about his journey.

Once again Skaraptica was growing dark, the sun beginning to retreat beyond the horizon. It was always quite relaxing to listen to the sounds of the forest change as the light became more and more scarce. The birds that had been chirping all day would be replaced by crickets and other insects, as well as other types of birds. The sounds of owls could be heard as could the distant howling of wolves. Too bad they weren't any closer, he would get one eventually.
Just like the last few days Jorkahn would search for a suitable camping ground near the bank of the river and begin to prepare it for temporary habitation. First, the boy had to dismount from his steed.

The warrior landed quite gracefully upon his feet, almost as if he had been doing this for years. He would be proud of himself if he wasn't already so sore and exhausted. It seemed like the wear and tear of travel, even if on a horse, was starting to get to him. But he couldn't rest yet, it was time to prepare camp.

It took him a while but the half-breed was able to set up his tent, a fire, and even an area for his horse like he had many times before. Before hitting the hay, so to speak, he would sit at the fire and pull out some food for himself. Nothing too fancy, just some fruit a bit of bread. A small snack to prevent the pangs of hunger from waking him up in the middle of the night.
The young man's mind wandered to the events of the past three months, the good and the bad. He had nearly been outed by a mage hunter, with only his new friend Tyr to vouch for him. He had received his first set of gear that he could truly call his own. He made several new acquaintances, another he could call a friend. They had fought against one another in the tournament of Jewels and with each other against some kind of abominations in the guise of crows. So much had happened, it nearly made him dizzy just thinking about it.
And then the boy felt something he hadn't really experienced before. He felt lonely, out here in the middle of nowhere. Normally he liked seclusion, preferred it even. His only friend had been his sister, Valorie. Nobody else had really paid attention to him, even the other people in his family didn't seem to care too much about his whereabouts so long as he didn't embarrass them. It just occurred to him how strange a concept friendship was.
The lad would go to bed with a smile tonight.····
