Tocgar fails. With the aid of Tocgar though, Ssryl succeeds. Khamat stops bleeding.

The wolves had been fought off, Khamat wobbled slightly, on one knee as his vision swam around him and darkness creeped out of the edge of his vision and began to take over, he felt at peace but at the same time in conflict. He didn't want to die, he had much to do that couldn't be accomplished from death, he couldn't feel his own body nor could he form a proper thought, he'd lost far to much blood, more than one could lose and still be in a decent state.
Then suddenly the bleeding stopped, he didn't know how exactly but somehow it was stopped, one problem solved for now, but he was tired. So tired.
And with that the large and intimidating figure of the leader of the Flametongues crumpled, falling sideways into the dirt opposite the two other Skaldi who had just saved his life, Khamat had passed out without even realising what had happened.
Tocgar stood by, struggling to keep his own eyes open, the stranger had just saved his chief's life, Tocgar was greatful, but whilst he hadn't been hurt by that fight he had most definitely expended more energy than he could afford, the unharmed Skaldi managed to squeeze out several words before he to dropped off next to his chief. "Good job." As far as he was concerned the stranger wasn't anyone to bad, he had just saved both of the Flametongue Skaldi from a pack of wolves, although in the process he had showed them both how weak they were.

Ssryl didn't want to leave the two skaldi in the forest, but he didn't want to leave Thomas alone by the fire. He compromised and attempted to drag the two out of the wood line into the clearing. At least there he could keep an eye on them until they regained consciousness. He went back to the fire, sitting down where he could still see the two skaldi.
Thomas was staring at the two unconscious lizard men, clearly terrified by their presence. "s'kay Thomas, Ssryl keeps Thomas safe. Ssryl no let Ssryl's kin harm Thomas." The affirmation seemed to calm the boy to a degree, Thomas scooted closer to Ssryl leaning against the massive skaldi for support and protection. Ssryl was quite exhausted from the whole ordeal, and despite his best efforts, once the adrenaline began to fade, so did he. He was still seated, his massive frame keeping him upright, but he was not really conscious any longer.

Khamat lay in the darkness, visions of the last few moments flashing before his eyes as he contemplated his uselessness, he needed to improve himself, he quite desperately needed to cut this habit of passing out in a fight, it was getting rather embarrassing. And if he couldn't find a natural method of stopping it maybe he could find some sort of restorative that would help him out, he ran out of energy far faster than someone such as him should, he was like a hatchling in comparison to the rest of the world.
He knew that he had failed Tocgar, sure he had tried to make his desperate last stand so the younger Skaldi could run but even that had failed, and now both of them were lying side by side on the forest floor, protected only by another unknown Skaldi who could very well plunge a knife into their necks now and they wouldn't be able to stop him. They had no idea who this other Skaldi was yet they assumed that he was friendly or at least neutral towards them by the fact that he'd helped them scare off the wolves.
Khamat groaned, whilst the major bleeding in his leg had subsided it was still incredibly painful and caused him a great deal of discomfort, it would take a long while for it to heal and they couldn't afford to wait that time they needed to get back to the tribe as quickly as they could.

Ssryl's mind flitted about as he remained unconscious, Thomas unaware that his companion was no longer awake. The sturdy build of the dense skaldi allowing him to remain seated upright despite his unconscious state. Ssryl barely stirred as his mind replayed the events that had led up to this moment. The massacre perpetrated by his southern kin, his flight north with Thomas, and now this encounter with his northern kin. His mind played out various scenarios with the two skaldi he had rescued.
He was killed a thousand times over, his body tensing with each version of the events. He watched Thomas die a thousand more. His mind was telling him it was a bad idea to meet with his kin, whether it was well founded or just anxiety born of the events which had set his journey into motion mattered little as the scenarios played out in his head. Thomas stuck near to the massive lizard man, frightened of the wolves, the dark, and the two skaldi moaning at the edge of the wood. Thomas clung to Ssryl not wanting to let his guardian leave his side.
The fire began to die down to embers, no longer being fed by the skaldi. Soon the group would be cast into the darkness, the safety of the fire gone.

Khamat awoke, stirring slowly from his exhaustion, he'd managed to live throguh this by the scales of his ass. Straight away he tried to stand, and stumbled, it seemed that the damage he had sustained was severe, although that was not surprising considering that shortly before he went to sleep he had been bleeding out very quickly and only through the combined works of Tocgar and the stranger was he still alive.
Khamat raised himself to a seated position, leaning himself up against the back of a tree as he looked around him, he saw the trees and the sky and the other Skaldi who they did not know....and a human hatchling. Why was the human hatchling with the Skaldi, was this Skaldi Gorklu? They had been saved by Gorklu....
Tocgar also awoke, albeit much slower than Khamat, taking his time to stretch, revealing his claws as he did so before he to looked around, hiding his joy at seeing Khamat alive and sitting up, yet dreading the trek back to camp with the deadweight of his leader in hand. He then saw the other Skaldi who had saved them, and the human child once again. He hadn't said anything to Khamat yet but from the look on the Flametongue's Chief's face he had seen it already.
Khamat reached out one long scaled arm, tipped with a razor sharp claw, and pointed it at the human hatchling, "Why do you carry that with you?" Of course he wouldn't thank the Skaldi or anything yet, first he had to determine the nature of the Skaldi before him.

Ssryl awoke to the voice of another skaldi speaking sissak, it was the larger of the two he had helped save from the wolves. He asked about Thomas, he supposed it was strange for a skaldi to travel with a human hatchling, but he had his reasons. Now was as good a time as any to tell his story he supposed.
"Ssryl was gorklu, Ssryl travel with humans to sell goods. Southern kin, shadowscales, attack. Shadowscales kill all human, even old and hatchling. Shadowscales free all the gorklu, but Ssryl could not just stand there as they kill this hatchling. Hatchling watch his mother, father and clutchmates. Ssryl step in between shadowscales and this hatchling, shadowscales spare Ssryl and hatchling, but leave Ssryl and Thomas to fend for selves. Ssryl travel north to meet with flametongues, hoping flametongues better than shadowscales, not just murderers that justify human belief's about skaldi."
Ssryl considered it was likely that the two skaldi had some connection to the flametongues, there was little reason for two skaldi to be running around without human masters in this neck of the woods. Even if they weren't he hoped his kin wouldn't hand him over to the humans so easily.
