Fabre did the best she could, sketching quickly and crushing her swatches of colors to squeeze out an ash of pigment from each onto her brush. She mapped them in the places they would fall, upon the head, eyes, skin, briefly. Her motions were always seconds behind Allyria’s words. Brush in one hand, charcoal in the other, Fabre would add physical features and colors in between. She would reapply the thin lined features with thicker charcoal after they were faded from the color, as not to lose the descriptive qualities of the creature that Allyria was describing. Towards the end, Fabre noted a few of Allyria’s specific qualities off to the side of her entry.
She had a hard time imagining anything prettier than herself, wanting to know what she meant by that. Fabre sort of saw “pretty” as being a subjective opinion and a vague description of something, but shrugged and did her best to depict something…. “Pretty” (besides a self portrait).
Once done with the quick-draw, Fabre looked at her work. She felt she had done her best with the man-not-man portrayal… That long hair though… She hadn’t heard what the form of the hair actually was besides long – had it been in some sort of braid? Let down? How were the bangs- were there any? Were they pulled back? Did they line the face? Did they shape the face? Were they off to the side? Fabre didn’t know, so she’d only guessed that they somehow shaped the face but were otherwise nonexistent. As for the nakedness – she didn’t know what not needing any clothes meant. Was she drawing a nudist – or perhaps someone with a lot of confidence so they wanted to flaunt it. It was only for Allyria’s sake – to save her from possible bafflement – that Fabre abstained from attempting to portray anything. She just let the skin color fill in certain areas that may otherwise have more detail.
The purple eyes were fun to fill in. Fabre drew slim eyes, like Allyrias and dabbed the irises with purple. Then she wondered Allyria had meant it had eyes like her too, with no irises at all but just a purple hue taking up the two cavities. She worried about it for a moment before moving on to add in the pointy ears and – oh… she hadn’t drawn an opened mouth. Fabre fixed the lines, dabbed white hear and there for teeth, then pointed them with charcoal lines.
Yeah, at the end of it all, she was still far prettier than the drawing.
“Um… and how is that even spelled?” She asked, putting down the “V” – for that was all she could make out.

"Vamerothan. Vee Ay Em Err Rho Oht Ti He Ay Na. Vamerothan."
Of course it was in the Drokagr way of spelling. It was just how it flowed out of her. They were all the same letters, just different pronunciations.
She kept her stone focused on the sticks in front of her. Then she stopped and readjusted the kindling and the stone. There was some trouble catching the light and focusing it to a point. The sun was getting closer to the horizon now. Her angle was low, almost like she was laying down.
Laying down, that might help. She laid down and her stomach started to settle. She focused the stone with her arm relaxing on her hip, and her other holding her head up. The half-breed appeared to be lounging, but it was very difficult to keep the point on the same part of the kindling.

When Fabre finally scooted over to Allyria, her journal open for the other to inspect, she had an unsatisfied expression on her face. She didn’t have a clear picture in her head of whom the girl was getting at, but hoped this would suffice as something telling to her companion. “Is this alright? I can make more, but you seemed in a hurry – so hopefully this can help for a start. You said this was the first. Is there more?” She asked, trading the stone in Allyria’s hand for the journal so she could examine the picture while Fabre tried to light the fire. She figured switching off like this might be more productive. Vamerothan

Allyria took the journal when it was presented to her and looked the image over. It initially struck her as sort of scary. Not at all what she had saw, but it was what she described. It presented to her a dilemma, rather the truth of a dilemma.
What one person can see is not always the case for another. Just because I have a clear picture of what it looked like does not mean that my words sufficed for Fabre. This will have to do.
"We can build on it. Based on what I told you I'm not surprised nor disappointed. It's ears were more angled up, about halfway between where they are now and its head. It's eyes weren't just purple. They were like yours and mine, except the ring of color was purple and the black part was more slitted like a cats. It reminded me more or less of a girl but not with the womanly parts. Like a tall child, not at all an adult. Cute like that. Oh, and it didn't have a belly button. Strange, I hadn't noticed that before."
Meanwhile, the half-drokagr had taken the stone back and was focusing it on the kindling. The assistance was much appreciated. Allyria felt like they had gotten farther with the campfire.
"The others though. There was another one. It's brother or sister of sorts. A sibling really, directly a sibling. Its skin was like yours: tan. It had golden hair, and its eyes were orange like fire. I had the feeling like they burned hot with passion. It did not have fangs, but it did have ears like its sibling."
She must be wondering where I'm getting this from...

As Allyria began to delve a little into describing the strange portrait, Fabre had taken her journal back. She sat it in front of her on the ground, lying on her stomach as best she could and using one hand to brush over the first drawing. She completely grayed it out before redrawing the figure. Fabre avoided masculine features, keeping the shape of the body sleek. She could get a sense of what Allyria meant once she smoothed off the features. Fabre drew the eyes this time as if they were her own, angled and mesmerizing. She filled in the iris with purple then slit the pupils. It was such a small feature, but added an almost alluringly inhuman-indrakagr effect. Something clicked in Fabre that she had been avoiding for the sake of doing as Allyria asked. She looked at the girl, question bubbling in her mind. Where was she pulling all this from? This wasn’t your average ass/hat trick. Fabre let the girl finish her explanation, frantically following her words with the snap of her wrist, flicking paint onto the pages in a free-flowing manner. Her work was still sketchy, but she didn’t have time to fully render the designs until Allyria was done talking. Fabre figured she’d wait to ask anything about if the second fit the bill or where Allyria had seen such interesting people (?) until all of the drawings were done. She assumed there were more just based on how Allyria spoke. “How's this?” Fabre asked, briefly flipping the page so Allyria could see her new image of Vamerothan while she worked on the second character description, "Wait wait. Is the second tall or short? Are they childlike or have.... Well you know, actual body parts? And the blond hair, is it long or short?" Now that she knew the girl could properly describe something, she wasn't going to settle for vague visual descriptions. Fabre found it far more interesting to draw these creatures to just guess at their features. All the while she asked, Fabre had caught onto Allyria’s method of reflecting the light. Fabre took the jewel pendent connected to her short shawl and caught the light from her angle, reflecting it onto the same spot that Allyria was using her stone to heat. Hopefully, the added heat would somehow assist their efforts. Fabre was starting to get goosebumps on her skin (everywhere) from the chill. Vamerothan Redraw

"Yes, that's much better."
Allyria said glancing at the page that was presented to her. This one was much less scary, and much more childish and innocent looking. It also looked less of a thing and more of a person. Though it's lack of general body features like nipples and sexual organs, as well as an apparent musculature or belly button made it appear blob-like, almost amorphous. But that was what she had seen. A pretty creature of some kind that didn't fit into what was normal for living creatures. It didn't appear to have a sex, but it had a personality. It was intriguing to Allyria. She wondered if she presented this topic to Fabre if the girl would be confused. Fabre appeared to identify as a woman first, a person second. Not as any sort of insult, but a mere observation. That is what Allyria had picked out from her dress and demeanor.
"Um. This one was tall, and shaped more like a man. Large shoulders and arms and chest you know? But no it was also genderless like the one you've already drawn. This one's hair was shorter, maybe chin length, and it had a few random braids in it now that I remember."
She focused the stone where Fabre was trying to focus hers.
This was the most stubborn pile of sticks she had ever come across. Were they wet or something?
Then smoke, and then a flash of fire. Allyria dropped the stone on the ground and got her face parallel to the bottom of the fire. She started to gently blow into it near the bottom. That was enough to get it burning nice and hot. The flames started to consume the sticks, and they were in business.
"Now all we have to do is remember to put a log every hour or so this time, and sticks every twenty or thirty minutes depending on the consumption."
Allyria was beaming.
"Thanks for the help!"

Just as her fingers were going numb from the cold and constant drawing, heat rushed over them. They had lit a fire! Fabre gasped and dropped her brush, a nasty smudge blotting her new page. Fabre watched how Allyria blew life into the pile of sticks until it was burning hot. She put her hands by the fire, letting her fingers warm before she went back to working. Once she could finally bend her fingers again, Fabre mixed a few lighter shades of skin tones from her samples. She jesso’d the new journal page and mapped out charcoal lines of a figure. Like Allyria had said, Fabre made the skeleton of the character squarer in shoulders. She filled in the body with a tan skin, much like the caramel tone of her own, and dabbed the top of the head lightly with a corn-golden yellow. Then, she used the charcoal to mix in shades of shadows and lightly define several features before outlining the entire character to keep it from getting to blobbish or muddy in texture. As she finished the drawing, Fabre realized that Allyria hadn't given her a name for this character, "Does this one have a name like the other?" “You’re speaking in past tense.. Have you met people like either of these characters before?” Or are you just crazy? Man I REALLY hope you’re not crazy…. Fabre eyed the girl suspiciously as she slid her journal over to show the second drawing, “Are there more?” Of your crazy imaginary friends? Fabre was naturally very curious about the creativity behind these beings. She’d listen if Allyria shared where she was coming up with this, but she was a bit worried. Her pal had just fallen ill for the second time today and started spouting about beings Fabre would otherwise never have been able to imagine. Though, if she were going to get more descriptions, she hoped she wouldn’t have to remind the girl to be exact in her details. Fabre could be a real bitch when she had to repeat herself.

"It does. Arahamail. Ay Roh Ay Hah Ay Em Ay Ii Il. Arahamail."
Fabre asked a question that Allyria hoped she wouldn't ask. Having no gall to lie to her newly acquired friend she thought of the best way possible to put the truth. She was having visions, that was where she was seeing these people. If one could call them people. But that was something hard to believe and hard to conceptualize if you haven't experienced that kind of thing. She'd have a hard time conveying how it felt to be there.
"I've met them in my dreams. They may just be imaginary, something that I gave life to while sort of sleeping."
How to say your body was here and now but your consciousness was not? This was hard to explain.
"It's hard to explain. It's like I'm there while its happening. Sometimes I dream of events that might have happened, I have no way to be sure. But other times there's events that are happening right now. I don't know, it's very strange and uncomfortable for me. Physically and mentally.
Allyria warmed herself in front of the fire, letting the kindling and sticks get good and burning until laying a larger stick amongst them, and then another. As she had gathered around her, she found a poisonberry, some reeds, and a catpad. Interesting combination out here in a field.

“Arahamail,” Fabre read back as she wrote it down in the corner of her drawing. Both had such peculiar names. They were unique.
The human listened to her drakagr friend’s explanation. It made sense. After all, Fabre knew all too well what it was like to be trapped in a dream. She tried to escape the nightmares every night. They were horrifying and all too real. Instead of reflecting on her own dreams for too long, she played with the interesting illusions that Allyria seemed to experience. She was a bit envious really – being able to see two captivatingly fascinating creatures behind your eyelids was not fair.
“I understand,” And for what was being told to her, this was a genuine response, “That’s amazing for you to be able to recall such characters like this so vividly,” She glanced back at the previous page. The purple slit eyes making her smile, “What an amazing imagination…” Fabre had begun to doze off in the middle of her sentence. Her journal had closed and her head laid on top of the leather back. She was warm and cozy by the fire – comfortable enough to start falling asleep next to Allyria.

"Thanks..."
Imagination huh... how convenient.
Allyria stayed up for a while that night. Working in her journal, writing about some of the plants she had gathered and breaking them down, trying to work out their properties. She had some moderate successes, and one disaster. As far as science is concerned, in her mind, she had made some serious progress for herself. Everything but the Catpad had yielded some kind of results for her to put down in her journal. That bastard of a plant would cause her some self-esteem issues temporarily.
She thought she was a good scientist. That one failure convinced her she was a terrible scientist.
It was really awful. Her eyes were wide open half the night because that was all she could think about. Lying there under the stars, waiting for sleep that seemed like it would never come.
Eventually she fell asleep though, but had fitful dreams.
