Jonathon stood in the plains surrounding Fordeth, he'd left around midday and travelled as far as he could from the city, aiming to give himself some space to work on his skills, he would need time to perfect them and the month since he'd been released had not been enough time. He would need to make himself much stronger, yet practice was onyl one part of strengthening ones self. He would need to see a real battle first, hear people dying around him, hear their screams and be drenched in their blood, if he couldn't handle that then he wouldn't properly be able to fight.
Part of him loved it, the idea of wading through pools of his enemies blood, slicing into people and ripping their insides out, it revelled in the idea of blood and the bloodlust that could be, yet another part of him was afraid of what he would become. He had been forged as a soldier, as a killer, that was how he was made and it was part of him. Although he would admit it to no one, he enjoyed it, he enjoyed fighting, killing, it was something he lived for, the control of another person's life, the power to take it away, the sweet feeling as his blade connected with flesh or hit bone.
For now though, he needed to focus more on his magic, that would be his primary fighting source for the times when he could use it, although he'd have to be careful not to use it where others who could potentially report him would see, that'd be something he hoped to avoid at all costs.
For now though places such as these where he couldn't be seen were his best bet in terms of practising where he couldn't be seen. tonight though he couldn't find the will in him to practise, it was sapping to practise, yet he had trekked all the way out here from Fordeth so that he would be virtually undetectable to the people in the city.
Jonathon lounged about on the plains, sitting in the grass staring up at the sky, at the small glimmers of light and the red rings that went from horizon to horizon, stretching right around this planet in a never-ending loop. They were beautiful, the stars a glimmer of light amongst the darkness, the rings a swathe of red cutting right through both the dark and the light, was it supposed to mean something deep such as blood cutting the light and the dark. Probably not, it was just coincidence that that was how it happened, it didn't mean anything that was just his mind struggling to find meanings in the things he could see that would help him to explain the inner turmoil over his two views of light and dark and blood.

Torin's journey was not quick, he hobbled still. He was growing used to the strange movement required to get about, still his journey to fordeth was an arduous one. He had traveled several days already and it was very late in the eve, the night sky already illuminated by the moons, rings and stars. He was closing in on Fordeth, he hoped they had healers there, perhaps they could fix his leg completely with magic. It was perhaps not his smartest move, but it had to beat having a bum leg the rest of his life. Perhaps he could even coerce someone at the capital to teach him healing, it would serve as a decent follow up to his blood magic, otherwise he was going to carry obvious scars from his techniques.
Shuffle... step... shuffle... step... He shuffled through the field, quietly cursing to himself, "Wretched leg, if I didn't need you to walk I would obliterate you where you stand and get a new leg. Perhaps I should just try to brute my way through healing magic, though I am highly suspect as to the potential for that to make my troubles even worse. I'll just wait until I get to Fordeth, surely they have healers there..." With that Torin continued to trudge on in silence through the field, Shuffle... step... shuffle... step...

Jonathon lay quietly in the grass, flat down so most would not even notice the fact that he was there, coupled with the darkness it meant that he was fairly hard to find if someone wasn't actually fully looking for him. He lay there, peacefully, looking up at the stars and the rings that cut through the sky, considering the myriad of different meanings that people could pull from them, surely there were those who tried to divine by the sky. Maybe he should try and learn that at some point, it could become very useful if he could utilise it properly.
A noise broke him from his thoughts, someone was coming towards him, a very loud someone. Had this man no idea of stealth, you never knew what was waiting for someone in the plains between city's, could be bandits, wolves, giant lizards...or in this case a mage lying in the grass considering the stars and the sky. This person was very loud, they seemed to be saying something about obliterating a leg....
That in itself shocked Jonathon for several seconds before he had to stifle a giggle, the person probably couldn't hear him yet anyway, it was only his superior elkagr hearing that had allowed him to hear this person so as long as he was quiet the person shouldn't be able to hear him. That is unless this person was also an Elkagr in which case he'd probably already been heard. Jonathon wasn't exactly well versed in stealth but you couldn't exactly muck up laying down in the grass without moving from your original position.
But of course Jonathon didn't particularly feel like being trodden on or taken by surprise so instead he waited until the person got close enough to him, around 10 metres away, before slowly raising himself up from the grass, keeping his movement calm and slow so as to not spook this other guy. Upon standing up he saw the newcomer, he seemed to be favouring one leg, perhaps the other was injured, good information to keep hold of. "Hi there, what brings you out on this...lovely night." Jonathon said, trying to stop it from just being an awkward silence as he looked at the man.

Torin was slightly unsettled when the man rose from the ground, he wasn't on the road, so the chances of crossing paths with someone was rather unlikely, but he supposed, not impossible. His hand instinctively moved to his sword, though he did not draw it. He was unsure if the man was a threat or not, but his inquiry seemed harmless enough. "I head to Fordeth, I prefer the light of the moons to burning sun, so I'm traveling." It was sound, and somewhat logical, though there were dangers to traveling at night, the sun was not one of them. "So what brings you out on this lovely night?" Torin echoed back to the man.
The pointed ears gave the man away as an elkagr, or at least elkagr blooded. If Torin had more experience in the world he might have picked up that the haircut was military, but he did not have enough experience to make such a judgement. "Seems rather odd to be laying down in the middle of an empty field..." There didn't seem to be a lot to pick up from the man, but that he seemed unarmed, something that due to the setting either indicated he lived around here and just enjoyed lounging in the field, or that there was more to the man than was obvious.

Jonathon regarded the man closer, he carried a blade at his hip, Jonathon had his own hidden in his tunic, although his was a knife and this man's appeared to be a full sword, it wasn't the weapon though it was who wielded it. And the fact that they were far enough away from the city that Jonathon could use his magic was also incredibly useful to him should this stranger prove to be hostile.
He was headed to Fordeth, and he travelled at night, not many decent fold travelled like that, most of the people who travelled at night off of the beaten tracks would be bandits or thieves, smugglers or the like. This man seemed harmless enough, especially with that injury it looked as if Jonathon could take him should it come to it, hopefully it wouldn't.
"Yes it is odd to lay in the middle of the field, but the stars are bright tonight and I found myself somewhat contemplating the sky and these great red rings around the planet." Great, now he sounded like an academic well versed in star gazing or whatever it was called for those that were well versed in it. When he said it out loud it sounded a lot posher than the fact that he was just looking at the the stars and thinking of blood and carnage and turmoil.

Torin looked briefly to the sky, the soft crimson glow of the rings cast a pale red hue on the environment. The night sky was beautiful, the man seemed too educated to be from the farms around here. "Who are you? You aren't from these farms... more than the stars brought you here tonight." Something about the man had Torin's senses on fire... it was a similar feeling to what teacher had given him sometimes, a sort of tingling in his gut.
The darkness practically called to Torin, a voice spoke in his head, end him now... there is no one around for miles.... no one would be the wiser... he might attack you once you let your guard down... The tirade of ominous whispers continued in Torin's mind, his hand clenched the hilt of his blade as the death of the man played out in his mind.
The spray of blood, the look of terror as the man's life left his body, staring up at Torin as he extinguished the man's spark. Torin practically shuddered in delight as the scene played out, then Torin shook his head, his grip noticeably relaxing... the wave of madness had passed. He couldn't just kill random people, it was not only wrong, but it would draw too much attention to himself if people were dying wherever he went... but no one really knew where he was... and it was unlikely anyone knew where this guy was.... No... it was decided, Torin wouldn't kill this man in cold blood.

It seemed this stranger had caught on, Jonathon was certainly to educated to be your average farm worker, even if that education mainly involved killing people it was true that he had some sort of education. Jonathon gazed once again at the stars, almost drawing strength from them, they reminded him that there was still some sort of beauty left in the world all he had to do was look and he would find it.
"I'm not from the farms around here, you're correct on that, I came out here for solitude and for time to think, it is so hard to find a space to be alone or somewhere out of public eye where you can just sit, in the city it is far to crowded and busy for that."
Jonathon noticed a slight shudder from the man, he shook his head as if trying to clear it of a thought and relaxed his grip, what had he been thinking of exactly that had caused him to be like that. "Are you ok? You look as if you are hurt" Jonathon said, motioning with his hand towards the fact that this man was walking and favoured one leg over the other.

So his observations were correct, he wasn't from here... would anyone miss him if Torin practiced his craft on the man? Torin unconsciously began thinking of his magic, subconsciously manipulating the shadows, bending them... warping them to his will. Torin quickly realized what he was doing and released his hold over them. Did he really wish to kill the man so much? No... hopefully he didn't what just happened.
"My leg is a mangled mess, guess that's what happens when you try to navigate underbrush in the dark." Torin gave a light chuckle, hoping to distract the man from what had just happened. For all Torin knew the man could be a mage-hunter, he shouldn't let such things happen so easily. It did indicate one thing to Torin, he was growing stronger, but that didn't necessarily mean he was more in control, if anything what had just happened indicated that the stronger he became in the dark arts perhaps the less control he would have.

He felt something. A stir around him, it wasn't a wind, it felt different from wind, it wasn't with his body that he was detecting it either. He could feel it, but not in a physical sense, something magical was happening around him. The shadows around the man were moving, not in a normal matter but as if they were being manipulated, and he should know what that looked like considering the fact it was something that he did very often. His eyes widened slightly as he recognised what was happening in front of him, but he quickly reigned back in his response.
Could this man be manipulating these shadows, surely not. Surely this man couldn't be another practitioner of the Dark Arts, Jonathon tried to remain casual as if he hadn't noticed anything, if this man was what he thought then should he be worried at all? If it was him and he knew someone had recognised his magic he'd probably dispose of them, but so long as he didn't let it loose that he'd recognised what the man had been doing then surely he'd be fine, although in case it went wrong he mentally prepared himself for a fight.
"Yeah it's usually not a good idea, the commonly travelled roads are much safer in that respect, although you do have to watch out for bandits and the like."

It seemed the elkagr hadn't noticed his magical aside. Good, if he had of it would have no longer been an ethical struggle as to whether to eliminate the man or not... it would have been an absolute he must be eliminated. "I don't worry about bandits to much, sometimes I look forward to them..." Torin's mind wandered off again, imagining the justified wanton slaughter of men as they tried to rob and murder him. Once more he shuddered in delight as the images of blackened corpses, blood, and dismemberment played through his mind. He shook the thoughts off once more, "I mean what else is there to do around here? Highway robbery adds a touch of excitement to the life." Torin laughed at his own joke, an uneasy laugh covering his horrible thoughts.
"The name's Francis, what should i call you?" I like to know the name of my victoms... Torin nearly stumbled at his own thoughts as they crossed his mind. It was as if someone else was speaking in his own mind, the thoughts felt foreign, but he knew them to be his own. Was this a side effect of his magic? The price of his powers? Still he resisted the dark urges that were now infesting his mind.

Jonathon stood....Francis....could someone pick a fake name that was any more obvious. It was quite obviously not this fellows real name, why he was using a fake name Jonathon was unsure. Usually you used a fake name if you had something to hide, and this man obviously did.
The 'joke' by this man had not gone unnoticed, it seemed as if the man had a rather dark mind, Jonathon was on edge about whether or not what he had just said was exactly a joke, he had difficulty telling. Bloodlust came off of this man in bursts, almost as if he was trying quite heavily to suppress it.
Jonathon immediately became rather defensive, he didn't want to provoke a fight particularly, it wouldn't really be in his best interests, but if he struck first to defend himself then surely it was ok? Right?
While he considered that idea, he decided that for now he'd just keep an eye open, if this man made any moves towards him then he'd need to be ready to react at a moment's notice. "I'm James, nice to meet you. I can think of much better to do though than highway robbery that would give excitement, try hunting beasts that can be quite exciting if they fight back."

Torin didn't know how to take the statement. On the one hand, it seemed like a veiled threat, on the other it could be a sincere response to his own strange words. Torin pulled his short sword about an inch from its sheath, rather unconsciously... he pressed his thumb down on the blade until drop letter of blood began to form and run down the exposed blade. It was an attempt at quieting the demons which now screamed in his mind.
His body relaxed, his gaze becoming dull and distant, his voice as well. Blood was all he could see... this man knew... it could only end one way now. No one would know, no one would ever know what happened to the elkagr... no one would care... "Are you such a beast?" Torin laughed, differently this time, with a detached sort of madness. His blood dropped from his blade to the ground, soaking quickly into the soil.

He could feel the energies around him, he knew them almost as an old friend, they were exactly the kind that he would usually employ, it shocked him that this man appeared to be of a similar kind to him, both employing the Dark Arts as it seemed.
The man's blood dripped slowly to the ground, the crimson droplets sullying the earth around him, his gaze was dull, he appeared as if he was looking far off into the distance at something only he could see. This man certainly was not the kind that Jonathon particularly wanted to be in with, not just posessing the seeds of madness it seemes they had grown inside of him as in some men they did.
He considered his own safety before replying, he had no idea how this would go although from the appearance of things currently it seemed that it wouldn't end well.
Jonathon pulled out his small knife, creating a small cut in his arm with it before reaching into himself and drawing out some of his own power, the pwoer that ran thick in his blood, moulding it and forming it into a barrier around himself. He could feel some of his life leave him as he did so, but he would need to be ready for this didn't seem to be going well.
"I am not a beast, I am a man just trying to get by like any other, although I will happily help you hunt beasts if that is what you wish." His attempt at placating the man sounded rather poor, again it was something he had very little experience at.
Jonathon readied himself to move should the man attack him, he seemed as if he might be of the mind to do so, it was a sad day when one couldn't sit in a field without coming across a crazy.

That dark feeling welled up within Torin... it was no longer a casual thought, not a possibility that he could kill the man and get away with it. He now felt a need to kill, he didn't just want the elkagr dead, he needed to end the elkagr's life. To watch the spark fade from his existence. The other man was also a dark mage... Torin felt his powers, though he was unsure of the effect. Torin had never clashed with another mage beyond his practices with teacher.
The madness that was ebbing at the edges of his consciousness began to cloud out everything else. Suddenly Torin found himself exploding forward to attack the man cutting himself and unleashing dark profanities against the man as he attacked. Calling to the elkagr's blood, he wanted to feel the magic within the elkagr, he wanted to test it against his own.
