"Look at him go."
Richard said, pointing at the bronze knight that leapt into the melee.
"That's me in two years Rick, just you wait."
"Just keep it up boys, we're pushing them back."
Furia said as she knocked another arrow. She fired it at a zombie that was going to take a bite out of another soldier on the line. Then she readied her bow again and took out a skeleton knight, her arrow striking it in the face. It was a short distance off, but it was still within range. All that extreme range training was pulling off. She decided that she was going to start to pick off targets that were important, like the skeleton knights, mages and archers. If she could thin out their ranged attackers and heavier troops, then the allies would lose less people.
One shot, one kill. That was the motto of the rangers.
Her long siege bow was a powerful weapon, she could put an arrow through most targets with ease. Placing the arrow was easy, especially now that she used far vision on herself. It's magical properties boosted her vision and granted her precision beyond what was normal for her. She fired another arrow, taking out another knight. Then another, taking out a mage that was about to throw a firebolt at someone.
From her standing position she took a Dark Bolt to her side. Her armor did nothing to protect her and her flesh burned from the magic, her armor repaired her flesh as if the wound was nothing though. She looked for the mage that cast the spell at her, found it, and put an arrow through it's skull. Richard and James let the zombies have it, hacking off limbs and shoving their swords through the rotting corpses bodies. They held their position on the line easily. Lan assisted them by firing some arrows at enemy zombies that were attacking men that needed assistance. He healed others that were on the front lines as well. Keeping them from falling to the hordes.
Furia had managed to take out two more skeleton knights and another mage with her bow. She didn't opt for anything other than a head shot. Nothing else would do against the knights.
Furia Damage: 100 per shot. (100 *.7 = 70 *10 = 700, 100 damage at mages.)
Kills: 1 zombie, 4 knights, 3 mages.
Footmen: 38 damage per attack. (6 zombie kills.) Lan: 57 damage per shot. (4 zombie kills.)

Saint's kris cut a bloody furrow through a zombie's eyes as he dragged it through its rotting flesh. Without turning, he reverse-kicked another in the chest, not pausing to watch the havoc it wreaked as it went stumbling backwards into its less-than-mobile companions. He ducked a pair of hands that reached up to grab his face, and planted both of his daggers into the gaping eye sockets of the one he had blinded. Removing the weapons from the now-limp zombie with a sickening wrenching sound, he slammed his chill blade deep into the soft, pulpy throat of another zombie. Quickly withdrawing, he jumped at the reanimated corpse, slapping its ribs with both of the pommels of his weapons, cracking and breaking muscle and bone.
And then he found himself against the wall of the breach. The undead held for a moment, staring at him with eyes that had once seen, but now saw nothing but death. Saint's muscles burned as he leaned back against the shattered brick, preparing to stand his ground. The rotting dead leaned forwards in anticipation of a hardy meal.
And then there was a whine.
A fireball from one of the Cruinthian mages landed in the center of the massive group of dead, evaporating flesh from the bones underneath, and the zombies fell, separate from the main horde where Saint had drawn them. Nothing remained of the deadly corpses but charred, charcoal bones and flesh over twenty paces from the wreckage of bodies. Saint thought about how easily that could have been him.
Looking up at the wall, he spotted a black mage grinning wildly from under his hood. Saint scowled up at the man, feeling more than a little pissy at the proximity of the blast.
"Took your time, you bastard!"
The mage simply leaned down from the top of the breach, smiling despite the obvious venom in the drow's words.
"I just wanted to be sure that I got them all!" he shouted gleefully. "Besides, you grouped them so wonderfully for me!"
Saint would have thrown something at the bastard, but he HAD just saved his life. Besides, he could probably vaporize him with a thought. He decided to save his anger for a later point in time. Besides, he had more important things to deal with.
Like the crapload of skeletons coming through the breach.
"Oh shit."
Kills: 3 zombies. Possible additional kills from NPCs. I leave it up to you.

Moris lobbed a couple more fireballs at the group of zombies he had struck with the flaming balls of death earlier. The direct explosions took out another two zombies, and the blast set several more on fire, finishing them off. He felt proud of himself that he was working to finish off the undead, and with little to no effort on his part! All he had to do was fire and forget, whether or not he destroyed all of the monsters he hit was out of the question. He just didn't care. As long as he wounded them or did SOMETHING to them, then he was alright with himself.
"Augh!" Peering over the wall, he suddenly felt a sharp pain hit him in the shoulder. He fell back onto the pathway, and then scrambled to put his back against the battlements, it was his own damn fault that he peered over the wall in the first place. That's why he was hit with the arrow. No more checking, just lobbing.
Moris pulled the arrow out of his shoulder and worked the arm a little bit. He was going to be fine, or at least he hoped so.

Fireballs, bolts of lightning and ice, poisonous gases, and arrows were flying about from the side of the defenders. Black mages could vaporize several zombies at once if they charged up their fireballs to the maximum level. Warriors and the like would have a harder time disposing of the enemy. They had to exert all their energy to physically destroy the undead, breaking the bones, slashing apart the flesh and organic matter, taking heads and breaking spines.
The undead were relentless in their attacks. For Saint to be facing skeletons already was very bad for him, he would be surrounded by zombies on one side, with skeletons in front of him. Completely isolated, as there was still a little less than a thousand zombies pressing for that opening in the wall. Moris was lucky to be hit by just one arrow, and in the shoulder no doubt. It was entirely possible for him to have been killed by an arrow right to the head. Furia was lucky as well, because her armor protected her from most of the damage she had taken so far. Being one of the larger targets on the field due to her efforts.
The Bronze Knight that was mentioned before waded through the enemy with his executioner's blade like the zombies were butter. The footmen around him were inspired by his glorious deeds, and viciously attacked the zombies, instead of just defending.

Quote:
OOC: back into the fray. lets hope i can keep it up
A shimmer and a glow passed over Gunlase's body.
He whirled around to see Arthur finishing a spell; two to be exact. A manic grin reached across Gun's face as he realized that he now had both types of magick based shield. He would have looked quite a demon for his facial expression, but his high end helm blocked all but his eyes from view. The broad smile shone in those eyes however. "Thanks, kid." He shouted to Arthur, then wheeled back about as the next wave of zombies advanced upon him.
"COME GET SOME!!"
Gun roared to the entire undead army. His armor was already giving him a massive defensive boost over his old plate and leather, but the magicks at work now meant he was all but invincible.
His dragon shield was tossed over his shoulder to protect his back and free up his left arm as he dashed into the mass of bodies, blades flashing in a wild fury.
Decaying nails and bones scraped helplessly off his shiny new armor as his relentless blades soared through the air, hacking off body parts by threes with the clawed knuckles, and rendering zombies to ash with his enchanted, high end blade.
Dozens of zombies fell before he stopped, hunched. His armor was weighing him down, and he cursed himself for not realizing this weakness sooner.
After a half a minute reprieve, which was only granted him because there was a pile of corpses blocking more zombies from reaching him, he jogged around the left side of the pile. All the while, a phrase was developing itself in his mind. An interesting and amusing little quote.
After another twenty fell before his might, he had it.
'Here, let me help you back into your grave.'
Simple. Suggestive.
Perfect.
He said it aloud to himself periodically as several more zombies managed to clamber over the mound of bloodied pieces and charred bones. A wake of death was left behind him, leaving a respite for any following behind him. Zombies coming from the left and the right around the pile of bodies, some thirty or so feet from the wall by the reckon of Gunlase's glances, were generally too preoccupied with other soldiers to go after Gunlase. Zombies were stupid, they barely realized he was such a threat, and simply went for those who they could see the quickest path toward.

The zombies seemed to be thinning out by their efforts. This meant that the tougher enemies were going to be on the front as soon as the zombies were finished off. Though that meant there was progress in the battle, leaning towards victory for the Cruinthians, it also meant that the tide of the battle could suddenly change. Furia didn't want to leave the foot soldiers to fend for themselves against skeleton knights. Sure, there were other officers around to help, but at the moment her capabilities for taking an enemy out at a distance were going to be the better effort.
Lan was busy healing a nearby comrade of his injuries, helping the warrior stay on the line of battle instead of having to retreat away from the line. With the white mages on the field currently, very few people fell compared to the scores of undead that were falling.
Furia had been firing her arrows exclusively at skeleton knights and mages. The knights were taking head shots easily, as a head or chest shot would be the only thing capable of finishing them off without using more than one arrow, and she wanted to conserve her ammunition. It wasn't in her interest to turn the enemy into pincushions.
Her arrows split the skulls and helms of the skeleton knights, a hit anywhere on a skeleton mage's body destroyed the minion of demons. Though she wanted to wade through the enemy, she felt she was doing more good here. An arrow landed in her shoulder at one point but she kept firing, breaking the arrow and leaving the head in her skin. When Lan came back he pulled the arrow head out with magic, and let her armor heal her damage.
These beings couldn't phase her, not at all.
Arrow Damage: 100 damage per shot. (290/350 arrows)

Moris hurled two more fireballs over the wall, using his staff as a focal point, and casting the spell from the tip of it. The two fireballs smashed into the remaining zombies, exploding on the same spot, tearing apart six of the monsters, and engulfing seven others in flames, consequentially catching four more on fire. These fires died down moments later.
"I guess I'm doing ok."
Moris said with his back against the battlements. He stood up and turned around and fired two more fireballs into the group. Blasting apart even more zombies. Yea, he felt confident. Up until he got hit in the belly by another arrow. He fell over and laid down on the ramparts. Groaning, he reached up and pulled the arrow out of his stomach, and tossed it aside. Breathing heavily he rolled over, blood trickling onto the fortifications. He crawled over to the battlements again, and sat with his back to them.
"Never mind."

The battle continued to rage on, and zombies and other foes fell quickly before their Cruinthian enemies. Men on the side of good fell as well, but not as many would die as normally thought because of the presence of white mages. One such white mage stopped near Moris and cast a minor healing spell on him, and continued on to help others. Perhaps this healing would increase Moris' resolve and convince him to further do damage to the enemies of Cruinthe.
Furia's sniping caught the attention of several skeleton mages, who promptly bombarded her area with firebolts, ice bolts, dark bolts, charged bolts, and other kinds of bolts. Gunlase was attacked similarly, except the Dark bolts would be the only things that would penetrate through his armor enough for serious damage. He'd have to take cover to avoid a good bit of damage.
120 damage from various magical attacks directed at Furia and her team.
90 damage from Dark Bolts directed at Gunlase.

This was not a good situation. Saint was trapped between the rapidly dwindling mass of zombified flesh and the newly approaching mass of skeletal infantry. He had no illusions of exactly how long he would last against that horde of bone: approximately three or four second. And that was generous. He figured that if there was ever a time to GET THE HELL AWAY, this was it. On the other hand, this was the perfect opportunity to try out his new trick.
Saint used the momentary lull between the groups of undead warriors to slip his Kris and enchanted dagger back into his sleeves. Then, unsheathing his new pair of swords from his back, he turned to the mass of necrotic flesh and began his painfully slow way back to the other side, where the chaos was more controlled. The fire dripped from the older sword of Furia Deimos, and he made a mental not to thank her for providing the awesome weapon as he effortlessly cleaved through the neck of a zombie not paying attention to attacks from behind.
Arrows began to fall on defenders and the dead alike, not discriminating between live and animated flesh. Saint was cutting the organs from a particularly obstinate corpse that happened to get in his way in the press of dead flesh when he was struck in the back with an arrow. He felt it as it slid deep into the muscles of his shoulder, scraping along his shoulder blade before lodging deep in the muscle behind his left arm. He tested it briefly before cutting the head from another undead with his other arm, and felt a ripping sensation. Yes, the arrow was certainly barbed. It would be easier simply to finish moving through the zombies and seek medical attention then to simply tear the muscles in his back further.
A explosion of fire tore through the ranks of zombies ahead of him, creating a temporary hole that he suddenly rushed into, sheathing both of his swords as he sprinted at a breakneck pace through the burning field of flesh. Slipping slightly on something that squished and groaned, he nonetheless closed the distance, and then suddenly he was through.
Saint moved off into the Cruinthian lines to find a white mage and a bow. hopefully, he'd be able to do a little better tha with his sword. He suspected, however, that the mages would be the real heroes of this battle.

And take cover he would.
He saw the dark bolts arcing toward him and fired a couple {Bolts} of his own, impacting two of them, negating their force. This was done with his right hand as his left gripped the throat of a zombie and whipped it out into the air infront of the warrior mage.
Dazed and confused, the Zombie was blasted by three of the four remaining bolts and was blown to pieces. Pieces which rained down on other charred bits of corpse.
There was one more bolt to be dealt with, however, and deal with it he wouldn't be able to. Gun caught it in the left upper arm, which dropped and was clenched into his gut. "Fuck, they go straight through armor." He realized, as there was no way in hell it had enough power to get through his boosted defenses. If it did, that sort of shot would have killed any normally armored unit.
Dashing forward over corpses, he called up a spell he hadn't used often as yet, {Choking Gas}. With enough power to kill any normal undead in seconds, and a knight in not much more time than that, a huge gas cloud, nine feet wide and nine deep (or is it 18? an AOE would make it 3 yards from the point of casting, which should mean 3 yards in every direction)
He cast it deep into the enemy lines, deep into the rear of the skeletons, straight for the unit of skeleton mages who had just fired at him and Furias group. The cloud must have passed over four dozen skeleton warriors and a handfull of knights before crashing into the dozen or so skeleton mages. With a wave of his injured, but quickly healing left arm, the cloud moved back and forth, sweeping across dozens of undead. Warriors, mages, knights, archers.
He released his hold on the spell as he felt the damage to his arm repairing as the white gem on his belt glowed, and within seconds, he was back against a line of zombies, on fresh ground, that is, not corpse strewn. The black gem on his belt took hold now too, recovering all of the mana he'd spent in that choking gas spell.
His sword lashed out and passed through four zombies as he kept moving. A quick swipe of claw ripped through two dead-heads, and another swing of the sword pushed him deep into enemy hands. Grinning, as he was now thoroughly surrounded on three sides and covered by three or four deep on the forth, he curled in with his weapons, letting them crowd in nnniiiiccceee and close.
In a torrent of furious action and a drawn out roar, Gun spun 'round, springing up and passing his two weapons through every zombie within five to seven feet. A pile of body parts surrounded him and he started moving off to the left-rear diagonal, getting himself out of the thick of things before he got screwed.
Periodic spin slashes in each direction cleared the air for him when the zombies started to get close as, despite their slowness, their sheer mass of numbers had them catching up to him every so often.

"Take cover!"
The footmen raised their shields to block the attacks directed at themselves, but their shields weren't tall enough to protect Lan and Furia. Lan leapt off the top of the ruined wall, and skidded down the rocky slope a few feet, damaging his ass. Furia was slightly more oblivious to the attacks coming in at her, as she was busy sniping the enemy. She had heard the call to take cover, but it, like so much of the battle, was so very far away from her at the moment.
A magical hell exploded around her. Fire, Ice, Dark bolts, charged bolts, slammed into her and the ground around her. She was knocked off her feet from the forces of each hit. She hit the ground face first, realizing what had happened to her a moment later. Her armor was smoking, and her flesh felt scorched, but she got up and grabbed her bow. Looking for the skeleton mages that had hit her. A gas cloud seemed to be poisoning her suspected attackers at the moment, and she decided to change targets to attack others.
Having picked off a few more knights that were in the crowd of skeleton warriors, she started to focus solely on the mages, whom were probably doing the most damage to her allies.
"Where's Lan?!"
"I'm right here... behind you. Took cover... what happened to you?"
"What does it look like?!"
"Next time take cover."
"No shit."
She said to him as he got his bow ready. She had punctuated her remark by putting an arrow through the skull of a skeleton mage, rendering it into nothing more than a pile of bones.

A white mage had healed Moris as he passed by. Though the blackmage was now grateful that he didn't have to worry about bleeding to death, he didn't particularly feel like getting back into the battle. Inside his mind he screamed at the white mage.
DAMN YOU! WHY COULDN'T YOU LET ME SLIP INTO CRITICAL CONDITION SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO FIGHT ANYMORE!
DAAAAMNNNN YOUUUU!
"Thanks." He said instead. Moris got up and turned around, ducking behind the fortifications, barely dodging an arrow that whizzed over his head. That wouldn't have been pretty, but it would have been ironic. Getting healed and then getting shot in the face. Oh how the world works in funny and mysterious ways. Yet again, he charged up a couple of fireballs and lobbed them over the wall right down into the sea of zombies. The balls exploded setting several zombies on fire, whom set even more zombies on fire.

The zombies were definitely thinning out at this point. Less than five hundred of the creatures remained, lurching forward, hungry for the flesh of the defenders. The creatures were slow, but they tried their best to get to their enemies, biting at them, grabbing for them. They were driven by an overwhelming instinct to devour human flesh.
The skeletons on the other hand were still numerous, and wanted nothing but to absolutely crush their enemies. They hated them so much, they hated the living beyond what normal human hate could reach. Their empty eye sockets smoldered with a reddish glow, like burning coals. Evidence of the demonic corruption that was driving them forward.
The attack pressed on.

War is hell.
When arrows and magic are flying between two large armies, chaos breaks out in the melee, and death surrounds you, you realize just how fragile you are. You also realize that you have a duty too. A duty to win. Or to die trying. She had been filled with propaganda and Cruinthian beliefs from the moment she enlisted in the military here.
Kill the Heretic, Kill the Traitor, Kill the Undead, Kill the Demon.
Kill them All.
Furia fought some more. Firing arrows left and right. Taking down knights and mages. Those were going to be the heavy hitters in this up coming fight. The Knights, and the Mages. Those skeletons would pummel the footmen, and beat back their line. Despite the few officers they had up front. Meanwhile there was a group of Black Templar that were holding key positions in the city, in case this line here, at the wall, broke.
Furia vowed to die before that happened. She was going to beat the dead back here and now if she could help it. Ten Knights down, five mages down. She was picking off whole groups with her bow. Picking them out of the crowd, and firing at them specifically.
She was a dead-eye when it came to her bow. She didn't feel like she needed the Far Vision skill anymore, at least not when the enemy was all headed in the same direction. Right at her pratically. She was in the middle, at the top of the pile of rubble that the siege had caused. The perfect vantage point to fire at the enemy. Also the perfect vantage point to get shot in the face.
Dodging magic and arrows had become a regular thing today. The shields of the footmen were full of arrow heads, she had been shot at least three times, by everything. It was just a miracle that this particular moment in time was without injury to her.

Heresy was a big fuckin' pile of Skaldi shit, but Kill 'em all he could sure as fuck agree with.
His blades were relentless, flicking back and forth, a huge fucking grin plastered on his face beneath his helmet. His flaming blade whipped up and split the head of a zombie in half as he retreated from the enemy lines, letting them come to him. The flames of his blade ignited its head, quickly spreading the fire over its body, incinerating the corpse and leaving nothing but decaying bone and ash.
The hand of a zombie loomed into range, reaching to claw Gun across what ever it could reach, a flick of his claws and its hand dropped to the ground with a meaty thunk, followed by two more as slices of its arm dropped to the ground. Gun's arm reached out and with a wide swipe, the head of it and another zombie were gouged apart, both of them dropping into piles of decayed flesh.
Still grinning like a madman, he started to walk forward once again. The zombies were coming to a close, and he was overall closer to the wall than he had been when he'd started. Piles of zombie corpses were being piled by weaker warriors in the rear. Pyres would soon be dousing the light overhead.
Already overhead, ignoring the fact that most of the bodies would have already been dead, was a huge circling flock of gore crows and other scavengers. With a wide sweep of his blazing sword, he caught an upward glance as zombies began to close in on him. He stood staring for a moment at the spectacle of the swirling cloud of birds, waiting, watching for the combat to cease. He would have spit to them if he wasn't wearing his helmet. An absent minded slash of his left arm decapitated a zombie who was getting a little too close and his head returned to the matter at hand.
A sharp kick with his right leg snapped the knee out from under one of the zombies before the same leg punted off its head. His foot stomped back down as he slid forward, lashing his sword out, splitting two zombies in half at the torso. They were mostly ash before they hit the ground. Continuing a slow march into enemy lines, his arms whipped back and forth, his energy restoring as the limited action allowed his heart beat to slow to a more normal level. It was no more than chopping firewood. Clearing debris in a forest to create a new path. A path through corpses.
Decaying monster after decaying monster, he stood right on the front lines, hacking and slashing apart everything that came into range. It went on like this for some time until time seemed to slow.
Zombies slowed to a halt, his eyes panned around to see warriors halted in mid-swing. Archers pulling a bow-string to cheek, frozen in time. Black Mages, White Mages, Allies, Enemies, Animals, Fires.
All of it, halted. And then there was a zombie, right in front of Gunlase. It wasn't very decayed. Fairly fresh. Probably only dead a week. The face though.... That face. It was a man from Gun's Defenders of Order unit.
Gun's jaw dropped as the zombie inched toward him, time had resumed, but his eyes were glued on the face. After a few moments, Gunlase's features started to contort behind his helmet. The entire air about him took on a whole new visage. He finally realized why they were forbidden. Why necromancy was such a heretic art.... Bringing the dead back to life. No... At least that would have restored them to what they were, but this? To shit on their life with this grotesque state.... This was corpse reanimation. There was no semblance of the life that was.....
Gun's tongue set itself on fire as his mana burned through his system with a ravenous hatred. His left hand rose up in a fist, then opened as it was thrust out, gripping the zombies head. His eyes seemed to flash, sharing a moment of the glow of his mana before an enormous crack of lightning shattered the air as Guns as yet untried spell {Chain Lightning} Shattered through five zombies, dropping each of them but the last two as the lightning had cracked through their soft heads, blasting the decaying, maggot infested gray-matter all over the body strewn ground.
The zombie that was his former ally sagged in his hand, a gaping hole almost the size of Gunlase's armored palm in its skull. The neck tore and ripped until the body dropped to the ground, Gun's left hand still holding the head. He began to march forward, coming upon the next zombie, one of the ones that had survived his lightning attack. With a ravenous shout, his left hand smashed the severed head into that of the zombie still standing. Both heads splattered on the ground and the body dropped behind a Gunlase picking up speed.
With a guttural grunt, his sword was stabbed through to the hilt in the chest of another zombie, the wound igniting instantly, and the corpse burning off of his blade as he moved on, ripping, tearing, and slashing indiscriminately before his sword whipped behind him and shot forward, loosing a massive {Doubled Fireball} into the air. It arced down quickly, exploding in the midst of the zombies, a circular area with a twenty-four foot diameter of moving corpses was incinerated instantly as Gun advanced toward it with that fire in his eyes, and on his tongue.
