We lived our lives in our paradise, As gods we shaped the world around. No borderlines we'd stay behind, Though balance is something fragile. While we thought we were gaining, We'd turn back the tide, it still slips away. Our time has run out, our future has died, There's no more escape.

5:00 PM. 1 Hour after the previous battle.
-Allied Command Tent.

"Sir, the traitor talked. Just as you said he would. What do you want to do with him?"

"We'll have him purified and executed of course."

"Yes sir."

"Simmons, tell me what the traitor said."

"Sir. Enemies have been coming in and out through said fort. It is the primary breach in our nation's defenses, and has been the cause of most of the recent attacks in the area. He was unable to tell us how large the enemy force was exactly, due to the fact that troops are moving through it constantly."

"I see. We'll let the troops rest for an hour more and then send them to attack."

"They'll still be fatigued."

"And we don't have time to get reinforcements or to properly replenish our troops. The loss we took at their northeastern camp mangled our abilities to field these soldiers properly. We'll make do with what we've got."

"Sir, yes sir."

"Have their highest ranking officer report to me in forty five minutes."

"Sir."

With that Simmons left the command tent and went about his business. In front of most of the troops and the officers that were to be participating in the mission, the necromancer was dragged out of the interrogation tent, beaten and battered, was tied to the ground and set on fire. As he burned, another Knight beheaded him.

It was well known by all of the members of the Cruinthian military that that was the fate of a traitor and heretic. To be cleansed with fire, and then executed.

Condition of the Battle:

All PC's will be Fatigued for the battle.
-1/2 stats.
-2x MP cost.
-Automatically takes 2x damage from normal attacks. (Apply crit normally)
-All gear is still usable.

Furia was dead tired. She didn't want to fight anymore, but she knew it was going to happen anyway. There she lay in the dying sunlight, watching the sky turn to red. Red like blood. Today wasn't going to end well at all. She had that sort of feeling. It was going to be a battle to remember. Perhaps someone she knew would die, or it would be Furia herself whom fell to the enemy this time.

She was too tired to fight. No amount of magic could fix fatigue. Magic could fix wounds, but only as long as the body was willing. Furia wasn't hurt. She leaned against her pack, and drank a little. It was taking the edge off. For some reason she had a huge sense of impending doom. Like this was the end of it all. It was all going to boil down to this battle.

The course of the war.

Whose war was this anyway?

Furia was a foreigner, she didn't belong here.

But there she was, lying against her pack with her body armor off except for the parts protecting her waist and legs. The woman had finished the bottle of ale she had packed and left the other one untouched, as well as the sweet venom that no one was going to be able to stomach because it literally was poison. She had closed her eyes, and tried to pretend that she wasn't in the middle of a war. At least she had some time to rest.

((ooc/ I'm not sure if those conditions would apply to me or not, as the only mission he had been on was the Cave of Zombies, and that was a long time ago. If they do, just tell me. ))

Forde rode into the camp at a gallop, quickly dismounting before Sikke came to a full stop. He looked all shiny in his new armour, since Vince had just polished it the night before. Forde had returned from a long three-month tour of duty in the southeast, operating from Hillsfar. He had just been relieved of duty there a week ago, and had arrived in Sorath the day before. In the morning, he had received orders to report here ASAP. Forde had ridden out just after a quick meal. It was now evening, and Forde hurried to the command center, yari held point-up.

He passed by a smoldering, headless corpse, and passed through the opening of the command tent.

"Commander Halwurst, sir!" Forde replied snapping to attention. "Veteran Knight Forde reporting for duty, sir!"

He was tired out by the long ride, as was Sikke. It wasn't the return from Hillsfar that had worn him out, as he hadn't rushed it. It was the hard ride from Sorath that had weakened him so much. Sikke would have to rest, which meant Forde was going in on foot. Which was just as well; they were attacking a fort, not a camp.

Gun was laid out in the setting sun, his armor in pieces about eight feet away, each of his weapons and his shield was just within arms distance, and a few feet beyond his head, Erron was sitting with his head curled to the ground, facing his rider. To the right was his tent, erected by a Junior Knight as he was too damn tired to do it himself.

His eyes were closed, his legs and arms were spread. He was wearing his old armorings. Blue and black steel plate, slightly mangled. Beaten and bloody shirts, gauntlets, leggings, boots. His veterans armband had remained fairly untouched, some magic of its own keeping from being stained by blood. Breath came in slow, deep, and silent into the stomach. Here he stayed while a horse galloped past at high speeds, and while Furia despaired some yards away. Gun probably could have used some of what ever she was drinking, but he was completely oblivious to her, her drink, the horse moving at full clip, the stench and sound of burning corpse.

Nothing entered Gunlase's mind until the tiny buzzing of wings smaller than any fly flittered past his ear and his eyes creaked open, letting the twilight flash through his shot through red eyes. A lady bug glided down in a small circle and landed on the tip of his nose. His eyes crossed to look down at the blurry little figure. The setting sun shone off its carapace in a limited way.

Its tiny mouth moved about, picking bits of dirt and sweat from Gun's skin. The Arcane Sword watched it trying to scrape out an existence from larger beings for about two minutes. It flew away at that point, and he lay staring at the bronzing sky for another minute, breath being held.

Finally, he breathed deep and kicked hard at the ground, muscles aching and stretching. He rolled back and stood up a couple of inches before Erron's side. The horse lifted its head and looked up at Gunlase as the man swayed in place slightly, a blood rush smashing into his skull.

His hands reached up and pulled off his thin steel plate and hard leather. Dropping it on the ground, Gun took off his gloves, outer shirt, inner shirt, and under shirt. His well muscled body with its slight tan was exposed to the setting sun. By all standards, Gunlase was a very handsome young man, the muscles in his back, chest, stomach, and arms were all well cut and easily discerned from the others. Slipping back on his gloves he picked up his sword and claws. The noxious flames of Gunlase's sword flashed into existence as he gripped the hilt with as much force as his exhaustion would allow.

The draconic brand on his tongue alighted. Eyes closed again, mana coursed his system, building it to near record breaking limits. The only time he'd ever focused this much mana through his system was when he'd fired that earth shattering fireball that had knocked him out cold when he had just started using black magic.

In recent times, he couldn't seem to be able to fire spells on that level any more. Something of the devastating power must have made the gods put a limit on the power with which each spell could be fired. But that didn't stop Gun's mana from coursing with all possible haste through his blood stream. His whole body started shaking slightly as he increased the levels. Half power, three quarters, four fifths. It slowed as it reached the top, and his swords flames flickered, as if reacting to the power that was leaking from Gun's body.

Sweat started to bead on his forehead, every muscle clenched in his body, making his torso take on an even more defined look, each muscle trembling with the power that beat beneath his skin. His teeth were grit and bared, revealing the powerful glow of his now blood red brand. In his minds eye, the whole of the surround was black. Ground, Sky, everything. Everything but his body, his sword, and his claw knuckles. Even the putrid flames of his sword were gone from his mind.

His skin faded to a reddish black, and the dark red of his mana could be seen by his mind through his skin, pulsing like blood, faster and faster. More and more, pouring from the glowing orb of energy at his core. The energy grew brighter and brighter until his whole form was engulfed in a bright reddish light.

Bright black eyes snapped open wide, feeling the massive power of his own body. Eyes narrowing with a set brow, his face gleaned a fierce expression. A quick glance of his body found that a slight heat distortion surrounding his form and that his muscles had ceased their trembling.

His right foot slid forward with a heavy step and his sword was hefted. The flames, before flickering, were now roaring healthily. An activation of a fully charged {Fire Strike} increased their size by a good deal. [My exhaustion is taking a toll on my mana control... Spells are taking twice the energy to cast.] He cursed to himself and slid his sword into its sheath.

Sheathing his claws as well, but never once relinquishing the charge on his mana, he gathered up his armor and stepped into his tent.

Twenty minutes later, he emerged in full regalia. Shield on his arm, claws and sword sheathed, armor shining bright. In his right hand was the Saturated Trident of Rivers. Its own magic, much like Gunlase's sword, gave it a unique trait, the double helix of aqua streams that swirled up and down the length of the weapon. The streams appeared to be larger than normal, and the minor heat distortion was still present around Gun's body, a barely noticeable swirl of heat that blurred his silhouette.

Walking out into the clearing infront of his tent where he had been laying, Erron walked over and nosed his rider. The Arcane Knight raised his left hand and patted the horse on the side of the neck before walking forward into the clearing.

He was battered, tired, and weak. His power had taken a huge dive, but that wasn't going to stop him. Nothing was. Trident rising, then slamming back into the dirt, a small amount of mana was spent with the {Earth Shaker} ability and a resounding echo released into the air as the ground beneath his feet cracked and shattered, leaving him in a small crater of up turned earth about ten feet in diameter.

Back into the fray. Back into war.

(Hillsfar is a huge distance from this camp. Definitely not a days worth of traveling, check the map.)

"Hmmm? Oh, hello. You must be a relief officer. Where were you transferred in from boy? Hillsfar? Sorath? Fordeth?"

To Commander Halwurst, the kid looked just as fatigued as his troops that had been fighting for the whole day and had little rest. He was betting his money on Hillsfar, which was a huge distance from the camp. Well over a day's worth of traveling at a normal pace, probably a weeks worth or more. If the kid rode in, his horse would probably be close to dying from exhaustion, or something of the sort. Lucky that he had made it then, the horse would be taken care of, but probably won't be able to be ridden soon.

"Sir, Agent Bloodwraith has returned."

"Send her in."

"Sir."

Halwurst would wait for the young officer to answer him before dismissing him to join the other young officers. There obviously were things that the Agent wanted to discuss. Perhaps she could offer him a solution to his trooper's fatigue problems. Perhaps she had bad news. He liked to speak with Martha, but she was usually the bearer of bad news, which made all their meetings somewhat uncomfortable before the news was out.

Furia drifted off to sleep and dreamed lightly. She didn't snore, but she did breathe audibly while she napped. It wasn't like the woman couldn't use the sleep, so far she had been in three battles in one day, and was about to enjoy a fourth one. Oh how the military keeps one occupied. Never will she know boredom if they keep working her like this.

Working her to death more like it.

So she dreamed. It was a nice and simple dream, she was sitting by the western lake with a fishing rod, fishing for something tasty to eat. Having traveled up the Mallon river to get to Cruinthe in the first place, she was quite familiar with the types of aquatic wildlife that graced it's waters and the waters of it's connected bodies. Such as the lake. The wind was nice, and smelled of freshwater. Speaking of smells, she had already caught a couple of baby river serpents, and a few fish of various types. It was a good day for fishing it seemed.

Then she smelt something burning. She turned around on the shore, and her eyes spotted a burning corpse. It was the body of that necromancer she had encountered in that battle a short time ago. Before she had realized it, she had drifted back into consciousness, and was blankly looking at the burning corpse. Like it was nothing out of the ordinary. Furia blinked slowly, and closed her eyes again.

This is going to be a long night.

Agent Bloodwraith walked into the tent like she owned the place. Passing by the soldier, and passing by Halwurst completely without even saying a word to him. She picked a chair, sat in it, and put her boots up on the man's field desk. Which wasn't much of a desk, more like a table.

Oh look, a soldier. I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I'll just sit here, and wait for them to finish before I give Halwurst my news. He'll wish he hadn't passed up that chance ten years ago when he hears this. Ha ha ha.

"Don't mind me boys, do continue."

She was feeling a little pompous today. But that's because she had a development that will partially solve Halwurst's problems. The man constantly needed a good bailing out. And Bloodwraith always made sure that she was the one that was doing the bailing out. Martha preferred it that way.

The more he owes me, the more I'll get out of him.

"Fuck man... The horses are almost dead after that mad dash." A rogue of middling height and rather slim build panted in an exasperated manner. He, Knicholase-...something something or other, and a large number of other soldiers, persons, animals, and who knows what else rode into the camp, their steeds about to drop dead from exhaustion. They had all just been sent in from the capital and other villages and cities around the countryside. Having had to rush in order to make it in time for the assault on the Corrupted Fort, it was almost questionable how much help they'd be, exhausted as they were.

Officers and soldiers alike directed the practical stampede to the stables where they would all drink a few gallons of water and get something to eat before preparing for combat. And that's just what Gunlase's two direct subordinates did before joining the knight who was sitting cross legged in the middle of the small crater he'd created, his trident and sword both drawn. The weapons respective magicks were displayed on heightened levels. Green flames raging. Double helix of water torrenting fiercely.

Nick noticed the heat distortion and said nothing, just sat down next to the armored statue, crossing his own legs. "What's up? Why so serious?" Achilles sat down too.

"Try using magick. You're probably about as tired as I am right now, and all of my spells are costing twice their normal. I'm also pretty sure I can only move at about half my normal speed right now." Without opening his eyes, face mask flashing every time he opened his mouth for the intense glow that was coming from his tongue.

"...Fuck...." Nick continued saying nothing, and began meditating as Gun had been. He could tell his own energy was relatively fucked at the moment, and began building his mana as Gun had, body shaking in a slightly violent manner before calming back down. Nick's mana wasn't quite so formidable that a heat distortion surrounded his body, but you could definitely feel the energy pouring off the white mage. [Wonder what would happen if Deephollow focused all her power like this....]

Achilles blinked at all the energy and intensity flying about, even from Knight Boy before sighing and crossing his legs tightly, entering a meditative state much more quickly than either of them had done. He was a martial artist after all.

Now all there was to do was wait....

"Thank you for reporting in, go and join the others. We'll be mobilizing soon."

Once the young man was gone, Commander Halwurst would look at the Agent of Deephollow with a cocked brow. He was expecting something from her, because she never visited him unless she had something to make him even more indebted to her than he already was. If she was a banker, he'd be bankrupt by now, and she'd have all his money. Luckily, banking didn't seem to be her fancy, or maybe she was a different kind of lender.

"So what do you have for me Martha?"

Legolas and Tyrael made their way towards to the rest of the group to see everyone was gathering together for this mission. Legolas had his hands in his pocket, eyes slightly closed as he made his way towards them. Tyrael was right behind him with his favorite expression of not caring upon his face. "You think you can hold your temper, Tyrael?" Legolas asked, opening his eyes to look over in the corner of them to look towards Tyrael. Tyrael scoffed, "I can't make any promises on that, but I'll try.". Legolas kept his word. He knew somebody was either going to piss him off or make mad, he was easily angered by other humans, but he could deal with Legolas and his ways of doing stuff without getting to mad.

"So. What are we here for again?" he asked with his tone low. "I heard we're going to be taking over a fort or something like that. Sounds pretty fun to me. It's the best way for us to work on our skills to get better. You know.." Legolas said, in a cheerful tone trying to brightening up Tyrael's day. "How bizzare." Tyrael replied, sounding not too enthusiasm about it at all. It came out very sarcastic, but that was Tyrael for you. Upon the group, Legolas and Tyrael sat down for awhile to await for orders or see what was going to happen next. They felt so behind on everything that happened, it was best to catch up with the surroundings before they even started trying make their self known or whatever. They saw couple of people here, so maybe they could help them out.

Furia woke sometime later and sat up with a start. Nightmares again. She should have dulled her nerves with more booze, but frankly, that would have been a bad idea because then she'd be drunk and fatigued for the mission. Standing up, she started to don her armor, figuring it was about time for them to get going. At least she thought so. It was getting late. Furia started with the body armor, securing it tightly over her body and locking it in place, so it would move with her, instead of shift in the middle of battle. Armor that fit protected one a whole lot better than armor that didn't fit.

That's around the time she spotted Legolas and Tyrael. Furia waved at them both and started to put her left arm's upper arm section on, securing it nicely. Lan came out of a tent around that time and sat on the ground next to her, munching on some rations. He handed her the left gauntlet, she put it on and connected it to the upper arm guard. It would twist with her wrist, like any piece of armor would, but it was more secure this way. The leather under piece that went over her shirt, the chain coat that went over that, then the plates. All fixed together with a variety of locks and straps. The suit was a perfect fit, and made her look slightly menacing, especially to small children. With the left arm taken care of, she put her right arm together, then donned her helm, strapped on her sword belts, her regular belt a part of the armor already.

She put her quiver on her back first, slid her military travel pack on next to it, and then her bow. All in all, she probably weighed at least twice her own weight in armor alone, at the least. She probably had twenty pounds worth of gear too. Normally one would consider that encumbered, but she was quite strong for a girl her size. Her bare fists capable of doing more damage to a man's face than a standard mace.

"Well. I'm ready."

"You looked tired."

"No, really Lan? Because I only fought a few battles today."

"Alright, Furia. Alright."

"Fighting three battles in one day is unlike you Halwurst. I was beginning to think you've gone crazy. But when I looked at your orders on your way in, I noticed that these missions had priority. What is it, reestablishing the security of the nation by reclaiming a fort that had been taken over by the enemy? Sounds important."

Martha cracked her knuckles then smiled at him. She was beating around the bush a little, it seemed to frustrate him from time to time. Especially when he asked her to spill the beans right away. Already suspecting that she had something for him. Was she so reliable?

"I managed to requisition some items that would help your fatigued troopers in battle, just to help you out a bit. A whole crate full of Stimulant Potions. Experimental stuff, it wasn't ready a couple days ago, but I lent a hand while you were busy fighting the first three battles of this day, and I got them prepared for you."

She smiled at him.

"Research and development goes so much more quickly when an Agent of the Archmage is on the job, or when the Archmage herself is doing something. You'll have enough of the potions to distribute two per officer, but that's all I could finish in time to get them here from Fordeth. The only downside is that the effects don't last very long."

A pause.

"You can praise me now."

Coran heard of the occupied front and the mission to reclaim it, he decided to ride out from Fordeth, taking the horse that had once belonged to a friend of his. Coran won it in a bet, his friend had challenged him to a drinking contest. Bad move.

For the upcoming battle Coran did not consume any ale, for he needed to be in a clear state of mind. Though on the long and exhuasting journey to the camp he wished he had one for the ride. He tried to amuse himself by singing old village songs, but soon that got boring as well, he just continued in dull silence nothing but the roads to entertain him.

Finally when he reached the camp Coran dismounted eagerly nearly falling over from exhaustion , his armor almost dragged him down but thankfully the chainmale was not so heavy and he had gotten used to it. He got himself together and walked his horse over to where the others were and headed to wards the command tent.

Upon entering the tent he announced himself t the commander. "Coran Demer here, I heard you were trying to take back the fort. Thought you could use an extra hand, or a hammer." He said patting his sheathed weapon."For a price that is." He added.

The time had come. Tristan, along with Markus and Marissa, had been sent to aid the Cruinthian Forces overtake a fort that had been overrun by Undead. Time was not on their side in this situation, however, and they had to get to the Fordeth camp quickly. Taking three horses, they rode at a breakneck pace. Day and night, they rode from Fordeth to the camps near the Haunted Forest. By the time they arrived, it had taken two days and the horses were near death and so were they. Exhaustion was distinct on all their faces, but Tristan’s – because he face could not be seen – and even exhaustion was clear on all the soldier they past as they made their way to the commanding tent.

Even though she was exhausted, Marissa still had enough energy to complain, ”What are we doing? Can’t we go and rest first? I am utterly exhausted.” On and on she went, but Tristan and Markus were used to her complaints, they simply tuned her out most of the time.

They finally found the Commander’s tent after a short walk through the maze of tents. As they entered, Tristan looked back at Marissa and she knew that it was time to be quiet. With a quick scan of the room, Tristan saw four people. One was obviously the Commander. Two were unknown to Tristan; one woman sat upon a seat with her feet up on a table, and the second was a male knight from what Tristan could tell. The fourth was Coran, a friendly-enough barbarian Tristan had met and talked to once or twice.

Nevertheless, pleasantries came after the needs of the military. Stepping forward, he announced their presence formaly: ”Commander Halwurst, my name is Tristan Terrald and along with my two companions, we were sent to aid the Cruinthian Forces.” His voice was hushed, but audible, his answer was short and sweet, the way Tristan liked it. He waited for the Commander’s response.

Only the brave defenders of Cruinthe stand in their way, fighting the bitter and bloody battle to their last breaths.

Date and Season
The year is 1053, the month is Ausoris, the season of Summer. Summer in Cruinthe is a season that is hot and humid.
