Nice Tunes (Dagon) « Thread Started on Oct 23, 2009, 10:45pm »
The atmosphere was dark and sinister; however, that is how things always were in Helkorth. He walked through the dismal and shadowy streets, hands stuffed inside his pockets, his eyes downcast. He was thinking about his future and what he would like to do in the Traitor Legion. He decided to stop by the popular tavern in the town portion of Helkorth. The place was called ‘Da Bones Tavern. It was an interesting name. When he first arrived, he thought it was some joke, but no! It was actually filled with skeletons and such, some actually served. What surprised him even more was he enjoyed it far better than when he visited the Scarlet Rose Tavern in Fordeth – when he was not a part of the Traitor Legion. ‘Da Bones had a far greater ambience, which Emarion enjoyed. There were constant brawls and that sort of interactions. Also, you could meet people who have the same personality as you: heartless, uncaring, selfish, and power-hungry. People Emarion enjoyed.
He threw down his hood as he entered the bar. From his attire, people might have mistaken him for a warrior of sorts; nonetheless, his eyes gave away everything as they seemed to spark with mana. Pushing through the small crowds, he found a seat at the counter. Looking to the skeleton server, he spoke in a rough voice, ”Black Tea.” He threw down his money and got his order. Slowly sipping at the tea, his shimmering blue eyes scanned the room to see if there would be any entertainment tonight.

Dagon had a night off! Haha! He had just been transferred to a new unit in the Traitor Legion, and already he was given a night off! He considered himself to be unbelievably lucky. So, what better place to spend a free evening than at 'Da Bones? He ran nonstop all the way from the barracks to the tavern so he would have the maximum amount of time here to enjoy himself.
He ordered a beer, salamander beef, turkey leg, and a wheat loaf of bread. Dinner was good! Best he had for a long time! The gruel he had been eating during basic was absolute shit, and the food at the new barracks wasn't that great either.
"This is the best place ever!" Dagon shouted for all to hear. "I'm coming here every time I get some free time!" And then he went back to his food, taking a huge bite out of his turkey leg. A few seconds later, he noticed another human sitting down at the counter. "Hey there!" he shouted, waving his turkey leg in the air. "Come join me!" he waved his free hand a one of the empty chairs at his table.

After a few seconds of settle in, another human man burst into the tavern and ordered a numerous items from the menu before proclaiming his overall excitement and joy. Fantastic. Someone with some positivity. Emarion thought sarcastically to himself. It is not that he did not enjoy the presence of upbeat personalities, however he certainly did not want to get accustom to it. He favoured darker spirits with greater schemes opposed to a cheery being; that is mainly why he joined the Traitor Legion in the first place.
The man had beckoned him over and Emarion thought it would be better not to be rude. Anyway, he was hungry and the man had some food; hence, Emarion felt compelled to bring something with him. Rolling his eyes and thinking over what he wanted, he threw down a few coins and mumbled, ”A whole grain loaf and mutton.” A few moments later, a platter was thrown down with his order on it. He grabbed it and leisurely made his way over to the exuberant man’s table. Taking the offered seat, he sat down with a large plunk. His clear, almost pupil-less, blue eyes inspected the man and he took a bite out of his bread. ”May I ask, what all the excitement is about?” Plain and simple, Emarion was blunt. He knew it, but it was another trait of his. He did not like rambling on. Clear and concise: those were his methods.

Emarion sat down and set his food on the table. That indicated he was going to stay. Good! The company of the skeletons were fine, but having someone to chat with would be even better! Dagon took another bite of his turkey as Emarion asked, ”May I ask, what all the excitement is about?”
Polite, ain't he? He swallowed his food, took another sip (gulp, more like) of beer, and then replied. "Well, first of all, I was good enough to skip half of basic 'cuz I have superior skills, and second, I've hardly had a chance to do anything with my new unit, and they've already given me a night off. And thirdly, last week, I was given a longevity potion at the Recovery Ward, and now I am even stronger! And finally, I just can't wait to kill some stuff! Get a piece of the action, y'know?"
He rotated the drumstick a little and took another large bite. "So, what's your name?" he asked while chewing.

Emarion watched for a moment as the man stuffed his face full of food and beer before following suit and eating a good portion of his mutton. He was surprised that he was so hungry. Then again, he had not eaten a decent meal for quite some time. Taking a few more chunks from his bread and another mouthful or two of his black tea, Emarion listened as this man listed off everything he was happy for. Superior skills, hm? Emarion shrugged the words off, but could not help but think of a possible way to prove these skills; meaning, via a duel. However, he was not prepared for one. He was still settling into his new life and he had to train a bit more before he felt ready for a bout or two.
The man also mentioned something about some longevity potion he took at the Recovery Ward. That sparked Emarion’s interest because he undertook that experiment as well. ”I participated in that foul drinking contest, as well. I am merely waiting for the results to arrive.” He spoke in an amused tone, intending what he said to be a joke. Kill stuff... Emarion’s thoughts returned to that of the night when he murdered his whole house. Sheer amusement that was and he wished to perform such deeds again. ”Killing will come in time. I would not mind slaying a Cruinthe soldier or two... Or dozens. Nevertheless, I am still waiting to join a unit. I just recently arrived so I need to get some affairs in order.”
”My name is Emarion Odelis, I am the last of the Odelis house and I am a pure Black Mage.” A little extra information in there never hurt. It was nice to know one’s status in their house, as well as their occupation. They were useful tidbits for the future. ”What is your name? And, if I may ask, how did you come to join the Traitor Legion?” It was a bold question for just meeting this man, but Emarion did not care, he was interested. He quietly sipped his black tea as he watched the man closely.

"Did you now?" Dagon replied cheerfully, after Emarion said how he had drank the potion as well. "Well here's to hoping that you'll have a long wait!" Dagon replied with a laugh, taking another swig from his tankard. He was, of course, referring to how their lives would magically be extended.
"Hmm, well, maybe you'll be assigned to the same unit as me," Dagon shrugged, slicing a strip of beef off the bone with his knife. Before he forked it and stuck it in his mouth, however, he held his hand out across the table. "Great to meet you, Emarion. I'm Dagon." Then he ate his beef. "Hmm, that's a long boring story. I kinda ran into a Traitor Legion unit after a battle, and expressed my desire to join them. Eventually, I was brought here to Helkorth, and assigned to a new unit they were creating. Got halfway through basic and, well, you know the rest."
He leaned back, chewing. "So, the last of your family, eh? I bet there's a story behind that!" He winked, leaning even further back. His chair was now balancing solely on its back to legs.

Emarion laughed along at Dagon’s joke. Emarion so longed for longevity, however, that it was not even funny. All the things he could do with several extended years are unimaginable. He felt himself zone out from reality partially, so he quickly returned to the moment. Dagon was talking about Emarion being placed in the same unit and in between bites of mutton, he responded, ”There’s always a possibility.”
Dagon extended his hand across the table gesturing a handshake and Emarion obliged. ”Pleasure to meet you, as well, Dagon.” After Dagon told his story, he, in return, asked about Emarion’s. He could not help but chuckle because his story was much darker than most. Placing his hands together on his laps, Emarion began his sadistic, little story.
”There is indeed a story behind it. A rather dark one at that. Though, it was not always so. I will skip over some unimportant details to keep this short. But, I had a particularly privileged childhood: I was born into a wealthy family and I was loved and adored. I was handsome and regal, and absolutely caring. Imagine the nicest fuck in the world. A guy who loved every little thing in the world. That WAS me. Then one night a Demon entered my room and I became corrupted. When this happened, I went on a murderous rampage, killing everyone in my family’s estate. Everyone from servants, to unsuspecting guest taking up lodgings, to my mother, sister and father. Everyone.” He paused for a moment to take a drink from his black tea before continuing. ”In one night, I inherited my father’s lands by means of blood of the people closest to me. And you know, after I realized what I had done... I was not guilty, I was actually happy and I felt the best I had ever felt. Consequently, I moved on in my life to travel around and finally, I came upon the Traitor Legion and joined instantaneously.”
Some details were missing, but they were unimportant. Looking at his cup of tea, he was surprised to see it was empty because he did not remember drinking it all. No matter, he beckoned to a random skeleton and gave it his glass, indicating he wanted another. Then he returned his gaze to Dagon. On a more casual note and changing the subject, he asked, ”So, what do you do for fun around here?”
